Monk dip and two-weapon fighting.

Rules Questions

Say I dip a level of monk for the unarmed damage and flurry of blows and then take the rest of my level as in another class (say fighter for arguments sake). If I want to get the improved and greater versions of two weapon fighting, does the flurry of blows class feature count as TWF for the prerequisite or would I have to take The feat separately. I'm only planning on fighting with unarmed strikes. Thanks.

The original monk or the unchained monk?

I assumed they be the same, but if they're not regular monk. I'm fond of the archetypes for this build.

Neither of them work as neither of them are TWF. Now 2 levels into brawler could do what you're talking about.

Flurry of blows just references TWF for general mechanics. It doesn't acutally count as having the feat, and you cna't use them together.

Brawler's flurry DOES explicitly give you TWF, but an upgraded version that has the monk advantages (such as using 2 handed weapons). So go with brawler dip. Works great with ranger/slayer, since they get free TWF feats that lets you focus on strength.

Scarab Sages

You need two levels of brawler though, as they do not get brawler's flurry until 2nd. It has some weaknesses though, in that you only have TWF when making a full attack, so any feats that have TWF as a prerequisite are also only available on a full attack. This might matter for Shield Slam, Bashing Finish, or Two-Weapon Defense.
