Rules Questions

I'm about to start a campaign, with a cougar
Animal a Companion.

My question is; is Handle Animal required like a 24/7 thing,
So the animal don't wander off?
Or is it mostly just circumstances that decide if a roll is required?
Like is it going to chew on something or someone.

I know Handle Animal plays a big part in training for tricks.

Also does the Huntet gain the +4 circumstance bonus
That comes from the Druid side. I'm thinking yes because the classes
are somewhat tied together.

Any help and info would be great. I just don't want to over think this about AC actions and Hanfle Animal..,,

Shouldn't be a 24/7 thing, Your AC should stay in your vicinity without the need for a check. You should only really need tricks to perform tricks. If you or your GM are worried take the heel or defend trick. Once you assign a task you don't need another handle animal check until that task is done or you want to change the assigned task.

You gain the +4 to handle animal checks for link. It is part and parcel of having an animal companion.

Getting an AC to do tricks that it knows is pretty easy. 1 rank +3 for class skill and +4 for link and assuming a charisma of 10 means at first level you fail the check on a 1 (or a 3 if it's imjured). By 4th level you pretty much can't fail if you have maxed your skill ranks.

It is a lot harder to push your AC to perform a trick it doesn't know.

FIRST thank you so much for the help... You have been great....
OK- round 2-----
So if my first FREE trick is Attack do I need a handle Animal roll to tell him to attack?
Will I need to Handle Animsl if I want him to stop or if the target is dead?
If so what's the DC and where do I find that?

And when a new trick is learned either by level or training is it required to roll a Handle Animal and if so where do I find the DC? Like Heel for example does he just heel because he knows the trick or is there a DC? If I don't know heel and I need him to heel what's the DC for the untrained?

Can I take the-- Guarding (DC 20) An animal trained to guard knows the tricks attack, defend, down, and guard. Training an animal for guarding takes four weeks... As an initial trick? Or do I need to get each trick one at a time by training?

to get the animal to do a trick they know is DC 10. +2 if the animal is injured.

The DC to get the animal to do a trick it doesn't know is 25. Again +2 if the animal is injured.

You find these in the handle animal skill section.

Handle Animal linky type thing.

You need to make a handle animal check every time you want you animal to use a trick. Whether it is free or trained makes no difference.
This is why it is sensible to get your handle animal to +11, at that point you don't need to roll (1's on skill checks do not automatically fail).

You need to use the 'down' trick to stop your AC from attacking.

The DC to train is the DC listed in brackets after the name of the trick or purpose.

Getting your AC to use a trick it doesn't know is called 'pushing' and is DC 25.

Training for a purpose doesn't save you any time, but only requires one handle animal check to learn all the tricks listed in that purpose. A purpose doesn't save you any tricks your AC still needs to have the ability to learn 4 tricks to learn 'guarding'.
