Jinkin Gremlin Damage

Rules Questions

So, a Jinkin Gremlin (Bestiary 2) stabs at an unsuspecting adventurer with its tiny short sword and scores a hit for normal damage plus 1d6 sneak attack damage.

Tiny short sword damage = 1d3-4 plus 1d6 sneak attack.

Let's assume a roll of 1 on both rolls. What's the total damage?

1 - 4 = -3 (which converts to 1 nonlethal) plus 1 lethal (since nonlethal sneak attack damage cannot be dealt with a lethal weapon)?

So...1 nonlethal + 1 lethal?

I wouldn't assume you can't do non-lethal sneak attack damage with a lethal weapon. You can't intend or choose to do non-lethal damage when sneak attacking with a lethal weapon. But if the dice come up with less than 1 point of damage, then I'd still say the attack does 1 point of non-lethal damage - even though a sneak attack was involved.

Nope, you can't purposefully deal non-lethal sneak attack damage with a lethal weapon, but if you deal so little damage that the total is a negative number, the whole gets converted into 1 non-lethal damage.

Sneak attack and weapon damage are a single pool of damage, they apply together for things like DR but in this case also for determining whether the damage penalty reduce the total damage to nonlethal or not.

The damage is 1d3-4+1d6. If you roll snake eyes you get, 1-4+1. 2-4=-2, which becomes 1 nonlethal.

Thanks guys!
