preparing a Wizard emergency kit

Advice

How would I go about making a hidden stash for my wizard that I could get to even if imprisoned and all my stuff has been taken?

Secret chest would be great if it didn't require a miniature that could be taken from me.

Well, you could always swallow the miniature, or have it surgically implanted in your body. It's not actually magical, so it would be pretty hard to find and confiscate.

That's not a bad idea, are there rules for surgical implantation that I don't remember?

As a secondary question, are there any lower level options?

Reading the thread title, I was picturing a Wizard in a glass box with a sign reading "In case of emergency..."

Silver Crusade

Put the miniature in a Pathfinder Pouch, it's very difficult to find, and actually tailor made for when you had to sneak things into/out of a place.

Take a level of tattooed sorcerer and give your stuff to your tattoo familiar?

Go a step further, put the pathfinder pouch with the mini chest on the familiar and turn it in to a tattoo.

Or a less extreme example, have a small unnoticeable familiar like a rat and have it run away with the mini chest.

The problem really is that once you're a high enough level to cast Secret Chest, you're a high enough level to cast Teleport. If you can teleport, escaping capture got a whole lot easier.

And further, if you're in a position to use your Secret Chest stash, you're almost always also in a position to cast Teleport and vice versa.

Part of the reason I'm making this arrangement is because I selected bonded object, which fit my character concept well, and it is not necessarily certain that I'll make that cast without my bonded object.

I have selected the teleportation focus school, so I'll be able to get free with short range teleports, I just want a chest full of wands and other magic items that I can use, and re-arm my party, to get our stuff back.

Besides all that I'm following Harry Dresden's advice and preparing, since that is what ensures a wizards success.

I have plans for this as well using time stop, contingency, and a spell that I can't remember the name of to create a spare body stuck in time.

Yeah, when you're at the point that you're casting time stop, you can do all sorts of great stuff.

Create Greater Demiplane (add the Timeless trait to your personal plane) and Clone will do that for you. That's kind of the ultimate backup plan.

If you get mythic levels, there is an arcane mythic ability that gives you access to your own extra dimensional space to hide stuff, even yourself.

I don't think I'll be getting mythic levels, but if I do I'll look into that

Cast magic aura on a Glove of Storing and make sure you have another glove that matches it.

Sure, guards are going to confiscate weapons, armor, jewelry, and magical items, but they're probably not going to strip you naked and issue you orange prison clothes, so you'll be able to keep your own clothes.

Et voila! You've got a spellbook in your hand!

The Spell Mastery feat allows you to turn your brain into a spellbook -- memorize multiple spells that can never be taken from you.

I'm trying to figure out how to set this up largely because I have a bonded object, and I'm trying to stash gear to help me avoid the drawbacks of losing my item. It's not so much about not being able to prepare spells the next day, but the potential inability to cast them without my bonded object.

Sure that kind of thing could happen, but what are you really worried about?

Stolen, Sundered, Disintegrated, etc?

It's mostly general paranoia, which is fitting for the character, not as much for the GM.

The situation I'm looking at here is having zero equipment. Like being held captive with all my gear being taken from me.

If its sheer paranoia, perhaps consider having a wand or scroll surgically implanted in your thigh? Pick a spell that'll be most useful. Then hope forcing it out doesn't kill you.

But from a normal game play stand point, this is the kind of thing that might only happen one or 2 times in the entire campaign (unless its a weird one I guess). its only going to happen if your GM does it some how (even if its precipitated by foolish moves on the PCs part).

The PCs in my game were taken prisoner and searched a few months ago (after being knocked unconscious). The rogue had a dagger in middle back and the wizard had a somewhat disguised wrist sheath for a wand. I had them roll a slight of hand vs perception to see if the searchers found it during their pat-down, compared to how well they'd stored it the last time.

Since its "probably" never going to happen, you might have just as much (or more fun) just using that paranoia flavor for your PC to always be on the lookout for the perfect "bare-naked" bug-out solution, while never actually finding it. Sort of your own little never ending side-quest/twitch.

I'm not above doing things to PCs if they make very bad choices, but I've typically offered some "out" as well. But if your GM starts sundering the fighter's weapons, wizard's bonded item, and poisoning the animal companions just to see how you overcome it.....probably better to find a new GM.

I don't think my GM will start doing any of that

It is more for my characters flavor, so maybe I'll include this as an ongoing personal quest as suggested. I alluded to it earlier, but I'm playing him as obsessed with preparation like a magical doomsday prepper, but mostly focused on immediate survival.

Have you seen Pulp Fiction....
