Advice / Suggestions on magic items for a (White)Necromancer.

Advice and Rules Questions

Hello all I'm currently in a campaign playing a White Necromancer(specially going into Grave Bound) and while it might be a ways off I'm trying to find some good magical items to be thinking of crafting or going out and looking for later.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on magical items that would be good for my character/class or just a Necromancer in general?

Well, it's basically a themed sorcerer. Which means almost anything a sorcerer would like, your white necro would. Assuming that your undead companion is one of the incorporeal ones (which seems most useful and least socially painful) then they play no part in your equipment choices.

Any specifics that you could mention? Also no I'm going with Skeleton and I got ideas for equipment for him already.

A wand of enervation -- expensive, but this lets you use your 4th level slots for fear instead, plus your improved familiar or corporeal undead companion can use it too.

A necromancer's athame would be good if you were a wizard.

Sorcerers like pages of spell knowledge, a ring of spell knowledge and/or mnemonic vestments to expand their spells known. I think any of these would work for you. A few scrolls too whether or not you get mnemonic vestments.

As a charisma based caster a circlet of persuasion helps your concentration checks, besides the skill benefits.

Boots of escape are worthwhile at some point unless you're going to focus on being able to cast in a grapple.

Metamagic rods, obviously.

Dweomer's essence once you're rich enough to occasionally spend money on spell penetration checks.

And the standard headband, belt and cloak.

The undead companion looks pretty weak to me, and keeping an incorporeal one makes it both a decent scout and quite hard to hurt. Touch attacks would be useful in a fight given the effective poor BAB. Sure you want a skeleton? What for?

Backstory reasons and flavor, it's also more powerful due to houserules

Liberty's Edge

The Gravebound might be my favorite archetype for the White Necromancer class - it's filled with flavor and role-playing potential.

The trick to a skeleton companion is to think like you're equipping a fighter - magic armor, magic weapon(s), belt of physical might, etc. Have fun and embrace the fact the it is corporeal :)

Normally, when a party is going through treasure hoards and finds a magic weapon, and the fighter-types in the party don't claim it because they already have their own, the spell caster says "Well, I sure don't want it!" A Gravebound White Necromancer with a skeleton companion gets to say "Hey, cool - I'll take it!" :)

The White Necromancer can also be found in the New Paths Compendium from Kobold Press

Yeah I know about the the stuff I'm going to be getting for my companion just wondering if there are specific magic items that would be good for my actual character.

Just curious for people that might know is there a magic item that get's me more turnings? Or would allow me to get a control undead channeling pool?
