(PFS) Emo Goth Poser Character Concept

Advice

Scarab Sages

Hi, my name is VampByDay and I'm an alt-aholic. I can't stop making PFS characters instead of just playing the ones I have. I have, like, 12 characters and only one has reached the level of seeker.

So, for this little pit of insanity that popped into my head, I came up with a concept for a character that I thought was super fun, and I just want a little help fleshing out the mechanics of him. Half because, while I've read the rules for kineticists, I'm not super solid on them, and half because, well, I think it might work but I'd like a second pair of eyes.

Character Concept: Nothing really grabbed me as a Kineticist for a while, I just didn't have the urge to play one . . . UNTIL Occult Origins came out and I noticed the 'void' element and thing's just . . . clicked. The idea is that the character is a super goth poser guy, like you've all seen, I'm sure. The kinda guy that southpark lambashes with their goth group.

(important note: No, this is not hate speech. I'm saying I want to make it perfectly clear that this is a poser, and goes down the checklist of things just because he thinks its 'cool.' If you truly like that lifestyle, go nuts, I'm not insulting you. I'm lambasting the flakes and the posers that the lifestyle seems to attract.)

Character Name: Janus "Bloodangel" Penderghast (Real name: Jayce Rice)
Male human

Str:10
Dex:18
Con:16
Int:12
Wis:12
Chr:7

FCB: Hitpoints (I know, I KNOW, as a human I should take the extra wild talent, but it would only net me 1 extra wild talent in PFS, and really, there aren't enough void talents to make it worth while.)

Traits: Pragmatic Activator, ???
Skills: Acrobatics, UMD, Know-Dungeoneering, Craft-Disturbing sketches (Treat as painting), Perception, ???? (stealth? Intimidate?)

Level 1) Void: Gravitic blast: Point blank, Precise Shot, Infusion: Extended Range
Level 2) Utility Wild Talent (Skilled Kineticist, it sucks, because there are no 'void elementals' but it is the only option other than 'void healer.)
Level 3) Toughness, Infusion-Kinetic Blade??
Level 4)(+1 dex or con?), Utility-No Breath (Breathing is sooo mainstream)
level 5) Weapon Finesse (or weapon focus??), Infusion-Darkness Infusion
Level 6) Utility-Gravity control (Pssh, you sheeple always follow the 'laws' of gravity)
Level 7) Expanded Element-Void (Negative Energy), Feat-Spell penetration
Level 8) (+1 dex or con?), Utility-Eyes of the void
Level 9) Feat-Improved spell penetration, Infusion (Singularity?)
Level 10) Utility-Greater Eyes of the Void (I am truly one with the darkness)
Level 11) Feat: ???, Infusion ??? (Mobile blast? Snake?)

I'd appreciate any advice so long as it isn't "This is a stupid character concept and also I hate your face!"

I like your concept fluff wise, but cannot offer any advice due to not being that experienced with the Kineticist.

I'd take a look at N. Jolly' kineticist guide. He's written a pretty comprehensive break-down of the class, and is still updating it.

I would, however, strongly suggest not sticking to the void element when you get expanded element. Versatility is a big part of the kineticist, and only having a single element (especially one with so few talents) is incredibly limiting.

Surely a Dhamphir? Possibly even a skinchanger, I think I remember reading that some of the emo subculture went that way after Twilight.

No way. A dhampir would be justified in being a goth. You need something that really has to stretch to be dark and broody... like a gnome. In fact, gnomes are great kineticists!

My roommate said to go Dwarf. You don't want dig in the mines. They just do not understand me! Though a Gnome is a hilarious idea.

As to the other element Aether said that it is rare so it is special and misunderstood. I personally would go for fire. You know to light the candles and cigarettes.

I don't trust massive posers to make that distinction.

To all others:

1) Human seems the most appropriate to me, and it allows me to get point blank and precise at level 1, which is important.

2) While other elements are appealing, all of the utility wild talents I want are in Void. That is to say no breath, eyes of the void (and greater) and gravity control. Also, bludgeoning or Negative Energy damage seems good to me. I realize that neg. energy doesn't work on constructs or undead, but it does work on just about everything else, as no one resists that stuff (except me!), so if I encounter constructs or undead I just gravity blast them.

I wince a little whenever I see Cha 7. I'd warn you that PFS seems to be getting heavier on social skills with each season, so having a -2 to all of them will not be pleasant.

Definitely make intimidate one of your skills, bring Cha up to a reasonable level and you can ditch pragmatic activator. Consider traits that boost your will save.

I'd advise taking weapon finesse before toughness. Finessed kinetic blade is that good, even before you get infusion specialization.

I think you'll do fine with pure void. Its selection is not great, but it hits the basics (flight, magical breathing, supernatural senses).

I wanna say that this is one of only 2 characters with Charisma 7. Most of my other characters have a decent charisma score, and even those with charisma 8 (like my Samurai) have ranks in diplomacy and intimidate such that they can at least auto-assist.

I actually purposefully tanked his charisma here. I figured goth posers were such monumentally hated people that everyone would want to automatically punch him in the face :P

So the point of this character is to mock actual real-world people? How well is that going to go if you end up in a game with a goth?

I won't play him at that table?

A real goth would laugh cause he would get the poser joke.

Not everyone is hyper sensitive gets offended by every little thing.

Hexcrafter Bladebound Elf Magus will be a nice "emo" charatcter.
Half-elves drow blood are nice too

And you can make that i lose his lover and her soul is coucht on the blackblade forever... and he cut himself with it... so EMO!
