A guide to Golarion - For newbies by a newbie

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Golarion is a pretty confusing place. Sure, there are wikis...but putting it all together is hard work. And without knowing what is what, much of pathfinder just doesn't make sense. That is why I've decided to just map it out, so that if a name comes up I'll know the basics of what it means. And because it'd be a crime to keep this to myself if someone else needs it, I've decided to post this. Please correct me if I am wrong on any detail. Also, how do I show a picture in this post, as I'd like to show the map that I'm using.

Part 1: The North - Inner Sea

http://s32.postimg.org/xp6h6r47p/Innser_Sea_North.png

(1) Lands of the Linnorm Kings
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Lands_of_the_Linnorm_Kings

• People: Ulfen (Human), Dwarves and Gnomes
• Once Viking-like raiders
• Grudge with Irrisen for an invasion 1000 years ago which took much of their land
• Cold and Icy climate

(2) Irrisen
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Irrisen

• People: Humans (Irrisen or Linnorm descent)
• Ruled by the White Witches
• Conquered by Baba Yaga and her witches, used to be part of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings
• People are not adventurous and are loyal to their rulers (not known fear or adoration)

(3) Realm of the Mammoth Lords
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Realm_of_the_Mammoth_Lords

• People: Humans (Kellid Humans – Barbarians )
• Full of giant pre-historic beasts
• No government to speak of, the last place where Kellid humans rule their own lands according to their ancient customs

(4) The World Wound
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Worldwound

• People: Demons
• Used to be the Kellid nation of Sarkosis. Then the god Aroden died, the planet slightly shifted between planes, and a gate to hell erupted.
• Full of ancient, ruined cities (including a lost dwarven skyhold)
• Still expanding its' borders…

(5) Mendev
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Mendev

• People: Originally Kellid. Now full of crusaders of all races.
• One of the youngest nations, ‘founded’ to stop the expansion of the world Wouldwound.
• Not doing the best job of it. Lost the city of Drezen at the end of the first crusade.
• On the 4th crusade, with the goal being to just contain the demons. Not a good sign for the world.

(6) Lake of Mists and Veils
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Lake_of_Mists_and_Veils

• It’s a lake.
• Something intelligent lives beneath the waters, who rise up to make deals with locals. Maybe.

(7) Brevoy
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Brevoy

• People: Humans
• Once two nations who hated each other. 300 years ago both conquered and forced into one nation.
• Still on the verge of tearing itself apart.

(8) Numeria
http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Numeria

• People: Humans-Kellid & Gearsmen
• Ruled by the Black Sovereign (evil)
• Has Silver Mount (gearsmen), from this comes sentient androids (robot people and beasts)

(9) Ustalav
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Ustalav

• People: Humans
• 500 years ago conquered by the Varisian family.
• Then the Liche known as the Whispering Tyrant conquered the country. He ruled it for 600 years.
• Liche defeated by the Shining Crusade.
• The reborn kingdom soon fell apart due to two civil wars, it now has 12 semi-independent provinces.

(10) Varisia
http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Varisia

• People: Humans, Dwarves, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Halflings
• Wild Frontier of independent city states.
• Large Chelish presence, but not control.

(11) Belkzen
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Hold_of_Belkzen

• People: Orcs
• Centered around the conquered dwarven city of Urgir, this is the only land that is controlled by orcs.
• No real centralized government, many warring orc tribes

(12) Lastwall
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Lastwall

• People: Descendants of the Shining Crusade (mostly human)
• Founded 900 years ago to free Ustalav from the Whispering Tyrant
• Still around to guard the remains of the Whispering Tyrant to ensure that he does not return, and to guard against the orcs of Belkzen

(13) Nirmathas
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Nirmathas

• People: Mostly human and half-elf (some dwarves)
• First a province of Imperial Cheliax. Rebelled. New rulers as bad as the last so rebelled again. Now a mostly unruled ‘nation’ of individualists and free spirits who can’t raise an effective army.
• Also has the independent dwarven sky hold of Kraggodan, which was part of the shining crusade

(14) Razmiran
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Razmiran

• People: Human
• Once a river kingdom where rulership changed constantly due to violence
• Conquered by Razmir, self-stylized god-king (really just a powerful arcanist)
• Seeks to expand its’ borders, often at the expense of Ustalav

(15) River Kigndoms
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/River_Kingdoms

• People: Pirates, anarchists and exiles
• City states and fiefdoms with no unifying force
• The only law agreed upon in the river kingdoms is that an oathbreaker should be killed painfully

(16) Lake Encarthen
http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Lake_Encarthan

• Central lake, one of the most widely traveled bodies of water
• Site where the now deceased god Arodan put down the Whispering King for the first time

ah lake Encarthen.

the lake where isle of terror will be.

i got quest to the island. knowing nothing but doom :<

FYI, a number of the links posted by the OP go to our old website: pathfinder.wikia. It sadly still exists, but people have not updated it regularly for more than six years. Our much newer site is at PathfinderWiki.com. You should check it out!

Damn! Alright looks like I'll need to redo it. Thanks for the heads up!

Not bad.
Couple of things, though. The Inner Sea is the entire region shown on the big map, consisting of Avistan to the north and Garund to the south of said Inner Sea.
Also, the portals in the Worldwound open to the Abyss, not Hell. There is a difference (Hell is Devils, Abyss is demons).
Lastly, if you look under the box you type your text into, there is a button next to the words "How to format your text". It show you how to make your web page addresses into links.

• People; Humans-Shoanti, Orcs, Half-Orcs
• Wasteland inhabited by tribes of Shoanti nomads
• Sothern Varisia
• People: Humans-Varisian and Cheliaxian, Dwarves, Elves, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Halflings
• Wild Frontier of independent city states.
• Large Chelish presence, but not control.

Thanks! I'll get that updated and will keep expanding this

Annoying Nitpicking for Accuracy:

Words with * in front are misspelled.

(4) *Sarkoris

(5) *Worldwound (you have it as "world Wouldwound")

(9) *Lich

(11) The area is always referred to as The Hold of Belkzen, it is almost never shortened to just "Belkzen."

(15)*Kingdoms, also there are five River Freedoms that apply to all of the kingdoms with more or less actual legal weight behind them:
Say What you Will, I Live Free
Oathbreakers Die
Walk Any Road, Float Any River
Courts Are for Kings
Slavery Is an Abomination
You Have What You Hold

(16) *Encarthan, *Whispering Tyrant

Pretty good. One thing though, the Black Sovereign isn't actually evil, he's just being manipulated by the Technic League, who are evil.
