GenCon 2016 - Way too early pre-muster

Silver Crusade 4/5

I'm looking for people to play with! I'd love to get together with some of the people I've talked to here on the forums over the years, so who wants to pre-plan some tables together? This isn't just a thread for me, though. If the rest of you want to plan other sessions without me, feel free to post here to coordinate, just so we have one big thread to work from.

We probably should have started this a week ago, since event tickets go on sale tomorrow. Here's a link to see the PFS events. I finally figured out how to make that work - search for PFS in their event finder, then click the "Start Time" at the top of the list to sort it by date and time. Hopefully, my link already does that, but in case it doesn't, now you know.

So as for my own schedule, I'll be GMing 7-21 The Sun Orchid Scheme (1-5) all 4 morning sessions. The group I normally go to GenCon with isn't going this year, so I don't have much in the way of plans otherwise. I'd like to leave at least one afternoon open to wander the vendor hall, and I might still do a True Dungeon run without my normal group, especially since I know some people who GM that. But other than that, I'm fairly flexible.

So who wants to plan to play together? What event tickets should I buy for PFS sessions? I was thinking of maybe just buying tickets to the specials and using generic tickets for other PFS tables, so I can play whatever's available without planning too much in advance. That worked pretty well last year. But for the Friday night special, I don't even know what sub-tier to buy a ticket for, since I have PC's at every level 1-9 I could play.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Nobody wants to play with me? I feel so unloved.

I have a ticket for the 10-11 table of the special. I also have tickets to the 2 other specials.

GM wise I have 5 tables of 7-21.

Fromper, we've played together at a local convention.

I have a pile o' generics because I have no clue what will be available come GenCon (and post-PaizoCon)

I'd be game for joining a table you play at?

Grand Lodge 3/5

I signed up for a Thursday game, so maybe I'll get your table! Thinking of bringing a Pyrokineticist for funsies......

Silver Crusade 4/5

Had a very busy day today so haven't had a chance to buy event tickets yet. I still haven't decided which sub-tier to buy for the Friday night special, or which other games to sign up for in which slots, because I don't know who I'll be playing with.

Anyone actually want to use this thread to try and muster groups?

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

I would be game. I am actually only playing on two tables. The others I am going to GM or checking out the rest of the con.

I have the Friday special at tier 10-11. I will have my 11th level Unchained Monk (with a dip into ranger). It is likely the special will be my last table before he dings 12th level.

I also have a a 9am table on Sunday of 7-22: Bid for Alabastrine. Not sure which character I will be playing there.

Good news on the Friday night special - you don't have to decide tier! Everything is sold out but 1-2, according to the site.

Which really sucks, I wanted to retire a character with that.

Bob mentioned possibly re-balancing the tiers for Friday night to match demand. Keep an eye on the GenCon threads and check the event list later this week.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Gary, unfortunately, that won't work for me. I don't have a 10-11 PC to bring to the special, and I'm GMing Sunday morning.

Keith, in the volunteer thread, Bob said they'd be adjusting the ticket availability by tier for the Friday special. I probably want to get in on tier 3-4 or 5-6, since that's where my most interesting PC's are these days. I'll have to keep an eye on the web site today.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Ok, so I definitely want to play Saturday afternoon, and probably either Thursday or Friday afternoon (I want to spend one of those two afternoons in the vendor room).

For the adventures I'd like to play, I'm thinking Twisted Circle, Captive in Crystal, or Thralls of the Shattered God as my top priorities, since I missed playing them with my local group, and I don't know when they'll be offered again locally. But the newer stuff that isn't out yet is an option, too, especially the new season 8 scenarios.

Who wants to join me for one of those at those times?

And as I said, I'm hoping to get in on tier 3-4 or 5-6 for the Friday evening special, though I could do 7-8 or 1-2, too. I don't have a 10-11 PC. Right now, just waiting for Bob to re-arrange the available tickets, and then buy one as soon as they become available at higher tiers than 1-2. Or does anyone know if I buy a 1-2 ticket, can I return it for credit and get something different later?

Thursday afternoon is out for me, because volunteering. Friday afternoon is possible.

Have played Twisted Circle (in Core), so any of the three would be an option, pre-gen if I don't have someone in range and not adverse to that.

It's kind of weird, I can grab some of the pregens and just 'run' with them, introducing personality and making them live. Other ones are... bleh.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Want to do 8-01 Friday afternoon? It's a low level, so you can bring your own PC instead of playing a pregen. Or we could do 8-02, which is a 3-7. I'm not sure what level PC's you have, but I'd probably prefer the low tier on the 5-9 adventures, since I'm now up to 3 PC's at level 6, and I want to get them to 7 so I can start using them in 7-11 scenarios.

Bummer. Guess we can wave at each other was we are running our respective tables of The Sun Orchid Scheme.

Sure, let's do 8-01. Getting ticket now.

I'll bring my paladin of Andoletta and give the NPC noted in the flavor text a firm wallop with a quarterstaff for being an idiot if it turns out to be necessary.

Andrietta could use some play time.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Cool. I signed up for 8-01 for Friday afternoon. I also picked up a ticket for Captive in Crystal Saturday afternoon, if anyone wants to join me for that.

I thought I had most of a team put together for the 9-11 tier of the interactive special, but it fell apart post registration. :(
So, I have an 11th level Duelist/Lore Warden looking for teammates for his final epic adventure.

Speaking from personal experience, a new batch of tickets usually becomes available the day of the event. The last three years, I've tried to sign up for the special early, gotten rejected, then have been able to go down and purchase tickets for it the day of.

OK, that's 2/6 of a party, with minimal magic so far. My Duelist can use his free hand to UMD really well.

I will be gming seeker arc part 1, all for immortality this upcoming july. Something to consider Bob, if you need another table. Would not mind giving up a table of Sun Orchid Scheme, if it's not needed.

Friday night is sold out... Hopefully, there will be some tickets pop up for the Friday night special as they did last year, otherwise I will be sleeping... I know I got 1 of 2 that morning at the ticket booth. I told someone else to run down and get the other as they asked (I was marshalling). I wouldn't hope too much, besides, you have to go down and buy some dice and Pathfinder books...

BTW my "dark gnome" wizard with "tiny shadow dragon" familiar are just 11th level. I'll have to meet up again with the goblin and crew from the cube-o-snakes.

Same here. One of the group has never been to a gaming con before, another has only been to a small regional con where they managed to play an interactive. My girlfriend and I are taking them to their first Gencon just so they can see the spectacle.

I and 2 others from my local PFS group are in that tier, but we may not be the best match given the other PCs listed.

Dwarf "chained" Rogue 10, archery focused
Human "chained" Monk 9
Halfling Investigator (Empiricist) 8 / Ranger (Freebooter) 1, aid another and bodyguard build

I could run a 10th level Wizard or a 9th level Cleric (Archer) instead of my Duliest, if there is a dearth of spellcasters available. (Thanks for bringing this up again, Gary)

We had a core table of 4 druids for the 7-00 special at a con earlier this year. That was hilarious. Glad the GM was able to roll with it too.

Still hoping to find a table for my 11 Warpriest to retire out.

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Nebraska—Omaha

Well, so far here is the call for a high tier special group.

Eric Ives: 11th level Duelist/Lore Warden or 10th level Wizard or a 9th level Cleric (Archer)

Gary Bush: 11th level human (unchained monk-10, Ranger-1) I play him as a mobile striker.

Athos710 and friends: 10th level Dwarf "chained" Rogue, archery focused and 9th level Human "chained" Monk and 9th level Halfling (Investigator (Empiricist)-8, Ranger(Freebooter)-1, aid another and bodyguard build)

Keith Apperson: Warpriest-11

That is 6. I have 1 real concern. The potential lack of front line tank. I know a Warpriest can be an effective tank (saw one hold off 3 mummies) but not sure how Keith has his speced out.

But I am more than willing to go with this group.

Eric, I would say play what you want! Have fun! I have not seen a Duelist before. But the punch of a wizard could be very helpful.

So yes on this group and see if we can get Jack as the GM?

You'll have no problems with Alandar (Keith's warpriest). He's plenty effective... and has some interesting history, now... :D

I'd love to have you all at the table -- will be a lot of fun!

On another note:

If there is a table looking for a consistent GM for the seeker tier running FRI-SUN, I am running this series, and would love to be able to pre-muster the table (to be able to at least get some of the prelims done for part I before we meet).

So, if you're planning on playing in this series of slots, and would like me to GM for you, please let me know!

Between Keith's Warpriest and my character, Bartok, the front line sounds secure. Bartok passes out +7 to AC with Bodyguard (Helpful trait and Benevolent armor) +5 to attack for Aid Another, and can Aid Another as a standard, move, or swift, plus he has some minor party buffing abilities. He's built to identify the threat and make everyone else better at fighting it.

BTW, with the new Anointing Discoveries from Arcane Anthology he can make Alandar's Light Fortification act as Medium for 8 minutes, or just provide an extra +1 to a weapon or armor, and can do that 11/day.
