I haven't played Greyhawk since the RPGA shut down the Living Greyhawk campaign, so my savvy with the world of Greyhawk isn't what it was, but I'd be interested in playing... I know this character would need to be modified a bit for your campaign, and his background rewritten, but would he do?

Just as an aside, I am a frequent poster, most days available for posting multiple times per day if required.

Hello,
I can make à divine character tto round up the party

(I am been running a game and playing for the past three year in a few others as Well.

Do you mind sharing some of the plot hook ?

Daaaamn. If it weren't for the need of a healer this would be the perfect time to try abd go for a Suel Arcanamach.

I will check if I can combine both a healer and that concept, if you were to allow that prestige class. Maybe a Paladin heavy with Lay on Hands into it.

Very interested! Would prefer to play an oracle but would be willing to run a cleric or paladin. New to PbP and Grey Hawk so it might take a hot second to get me running but I'm always up for the challenge! Plus I have a LOOOOOOT of free time to post.

I assume that this is the Pathfinder system? Greyhawk works well with 5E.

*Apologies for not mentioning it before but it is using Pathfinder rules as I do not own any 5E.
*As stated above the group lacks divine and some thieving skills.
*The party is now level 2 so your characters would start at level 2.
*Set just before the GH wars.
*apologies for the rush but I would like to start after the weekend and thus will make selections before Monday.
*Will take two applicants for this.

Answer the forthcoming questions as your character would:

Times can be tough. You are out of work or looking for a thrill. You either just arrived in the Greatest City of the World, Greyhawk, Gem of the Flanaess, or lived here your whole life and yearn for greener pastures. Passing through the city streets you either heard about or saw a flier for employment. “Looking for brave souls to undertake dangerous jobs. Good pay, dangers aplenty. Room and board covered. See Wonders of the World. Weak willed need not apply”. Instructions said to appear at the ‘Hostel of the Golden Sphynx’ in the Foreign Quarter of the City.

You make your way there and see the location; a newly renovated two story building with a line of people waiting as well. You wait your turn and finally you are allowed to enter. A quaint man dressed in grey robes bids you enter introduces himself as Kolwyk and leads you to a room. Inside the room is a chair with a small table next to it with a jug and a mug sitting atop. In front of the chair are nine stands each with a clear crystal orbs of some sort resting on pillows. As soon as you entered six of the crystal orbs change in color as if filled with billowing smoke. Three others are silent. The robed man instructs you to sit and drink if need be. Then the questions come at you from him. As you answer the questions the orbs colors go from light to dark to a vibrant as if the orbs are communicating.

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
“Do you think you work well with others?”
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
“What can you offer the team?”
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"Who do you pray to?"

After each answer the orbs change the tone of their colors but you discern the colors are: black-grey; gold-bronze; white-silver; green-brown; blue-white; and red-white.

At the end the robed man escorts you out and thanks you for your time. He says you will be notified tomorrow since the task required is of the essence. You leave with some free bread and meats and exit the hostel as the next candidate enters.

answer the questions as your character would answer and come up with a detailed background set in the WOG. The interview has a large sway in the hiring process. remember you are level 2 and have accomplished some deeds. points scored for WoGH knowledge

no need to create an alias for this until picked.

Tzardusk enters the room, looking a little edgy. His clothes and armor appear a bit travel worn and with a weary expression on his inhuman features. His grey-green skin is pale and he wrings his hands a few times, a nervous habit...

a chat with orbs, spoilered so as not to spam the board:

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”

Tzardusk turns to speak to the orbs, feeling a little strange about doing so while there is a humanoid entity in the room as well. "Um.. hello... I am Tzardusk of the Green Hand. I come here from Arishagk, a small village east of Rel Mord in the Kingdom of Nyrond. I came here because I saw a notice, offering a chance to see the wonders of the world. I would travel and learn if you would have me."

“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”

"Yes, well, the continued brutality and horrific excesses of the orcish people are unnecessary and terrify me because they are so prevalent among my people and so unhealthy. Spiders scare me too."

“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”

"Individual freedoms are a good thing, but sometimes order and structure need to be imposed for the greater good. A balance between them seems to be the most beneficial, don't you think?"

“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”

"I speak the common tongue of course, as well as the language of my people, though I'm told I have a distinctly southern accent to my orcish. In addition, I've studied and learned the language of dragons and that of goblins as well... Annoying little creatures, but a viable threat when they gather in great in numbers."

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

"Where? as in location? I don't know, as I have taken to being a wanderer and could be anywhere... I think I will have to go to the north eventually, and try to bring my northern cousins into the fold. If you mean where as in what condition, I would hope I could settle into a community of the faithful and serve them as their resident shaman.. though perhaps seeing more of the world, that goal will change."

“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”

"Oh, absolutely, for doing so will give me a chance to convert as many as I can. There are folk who say hobgoblins and goblins are distantly related to my people.. I don't know that that is true, but I'm sure Raurvir would accept them all."

“Do you think you work well with others?”

"I do my best to be friends with all people. I have been in many stressful situations that required a great deal of cooperation and I do feel I handled such adequately and with a smile... I am not a good tactician but I can stick to a plan and follow orders. I do tend to put healing before my own glory, so jumping into a fight is usually not my first inclination unless I'm needed... and then I CAN hold my own for a bit."

“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”

"Perhaps it is not a good thing to admit this, but aye, I would do that... I don't like to see anyone suffering."

“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”

"I have never been gainfully employed before, so I don't really know... but knowledge. travel, and a chance to spread the word of Raurvir are the things I value most."

“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”

"I've never been one to follow unjust laws or edicts, even rules of my own people... My beliefs are important to me, and laws need to be made for the benefit of all the people, not just one, or a few. I will not follow or condone a selfish, evil, or unwanted law."

“What can you offer the team?”

"I am a healer with spells and incantations that do other things as well... I can fight," he puts a hand on the hilt of his falchion as if to emphasize the words. "I do have an eclectic range of skills and abilities I can use to help a team of travelers, explorers and adventurers. I can survive in the wilds, open locked doors, and talk my way out of most fights as well."

“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”

"Life is suffering... If I undertake a mission, no suffering is too large or small to be endured, if the mission is worth staring, it's worth finishing." He looks at the orbs with a resolute gaze.

“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”

"I hope this doesn't lose me this 'position', but I have to say I'd save my companions first. Alone, I'd have little chance of completing the mission and it would fail. But if I save my companions, we can continue on together and complete the mission after they are saved."

"Who do you pray to?"

"I pray to Raurvir, goddess of harmony and the tended fields. She is known as the 'fair one' as well, though I am starting to learn she may be older than I thought and go by other names, too." Raurvir is also Merikka, just under a different guise and name, see his background in profile for more info.

Grand Lodge

I think I have a great character to be added to this group. Jordas Brandywen, a Human Cleric raised among Halflings.

Jordas seats himself in front of the orb, adjusting his travel cloak and setting his shield on floor, propped against the table leg. His morningstar set on the table beside the orb, getting more comfortable before staring into the sphere before him.

Questions Answered:
Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.
"Uh.. Jordas, Brandywen. 'Place of Origin'.. I guess Goldplain? And I got here by horse, then a bit of walking."

What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?
"Horrors? ...I can't really think of any off the top of my head. Only one that comes close was this cloaked figure I fought once. Hard bloody fight, too. Dunno how I'm still talking about it, actually. But, after the fight, he just vanished. And I had this pounding headache afterwords for days. Like I was many times hungover."

Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?
"Ooh, good question! I suppose I value both. Without order and structure, there'd be no cities, or roads, or guards to patrol at night to keep people safe. But without choice, everyone would be exactly the same. There'd be no crime and riots, sure. But there'd also be no art, no good food, no friendly neighbors or compassionate, helpful strangers."

What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?
"Well I can speak Common, Halfling, and a picked up Elvish from a retired Elven Swordsage a short walk from Goldplain. A grumpy fellow, but he really liked our honeyed brandy. Tended to loosen him up and tell all kinds of stories and actually sing when he was in a really good mood."

Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?
"Hmm... Married would be a nice place to start. So would living peacefully. I certainly don't mind the whole adventuring business, but it tends to be quite hard on one's health."

Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?
"Goblins... *sigh* I don't much care for 'em. Orcs are only slightly better because I actually met a relatively friendly Orc as he was passign through. Gruff fellow, but he could hold a conversation. 'To get the job done'... If they're willing to co-operate, I don't see why not. I wouldn't invite them over for dinner, but I wouldn't kill them in cold blood afterword either. If it can be helped."

Do you think you work well with others?
"Oh my yes! 'Be good to others and they'll be good to you' my Papa would tell me."

If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?
"Well... I'll try to help them, at least. Because I imagine the reason they're suffering is because of someone much bigger or stronger than them and they can't do much against said individual. I'd maybe offer 'em some healing, or buy 'em food, or just comfort 'em in some way. At the very least."

Besides wealth, what else will you work for?
"Good will, long, peaceful lives, gold, job security, or answers. Just to name a few."

Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?
"Hmm... If breaking the law will cause not only myself, but my allies and innocents as well, then I'll force myself to stick to it. Otherwise, I'll have some choice words to the nearest Officer about their silly laws."

What can you offer the team?
"I'm a decent cook! I'm also a good fighter and can cast a number of helpful divine spells. And people tend to like me, so I'm good at talking with people, and telling when they're lying. I can't stand liars."

Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?
"Well of course. Life itself has suffering. And if I can make it this far in life, then one mission shouldn't be too much more difficult."

Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?
"Companions. Because if I choose the mission, and I end up all on my own, there's a very good chance I'll still fail. And then I'll have failed AND be dead."

Who do you pray to?
"Cayden Caliean, Halfling god of Drinking, Travel, and general merriment."

I was an avid Greyhawk player back in the day, and would love to be involved with this.

Here's Horst IronBrow, Dwarven cleric of St. Cuthbert

Interview:

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”

Horst of the Ironbrows, dedicant of St. Cuthbert. I come from Verbobonc. On foot.

“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”

Fiends. Undead are enough trouble, but when creatures of pure evil start pulling the dead from their final rest to kill the living, something needs to be done. They need to be wiped from the surface of Oerth.

“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”

Things run smoothest for everyone when everyone knows the rules and lives by them. The hope is that people -choose- to live in a way to get along with their neighbors. I'm not one for tyranny, but The Saint tells us not to lie down while selfish folks run roughshod over innocent folks.

“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”

Dwarven and Common. I suppose it would be good to learn some fiendish language so they can't put one over on me and those I run with.

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

Castellan of a fortress on the border of Iuz, serving and advising a noble Lord dedicated to pushing those bastards back to hell!

“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”

:visibly bristles: I won't stand aside while orcs or gobbos kill innocent people, I'll tell you that for free, and it this is that sort of outfit, I'm right out!

:collects himself: But... You can't always win every fight, and sometimes negotiation is the best way to protect people. If I had to work alongside them to battle a greater evil, well: if fiends burn the world, they'll burn the orcs along with it, so they might want to throw in with the right side for once.

“Do you think you work well with others?”

:scratches beard thoughtfully for a moment: ...Aye. Don't have much patience tor roughnecks who think knowing how to use a sword makes 'em better than plain folk, and bigmouths and fools can get under my skin, but most people aren't like that. I've gotten along with most people I've worked with.

“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”

Yes.

Unless that puts more innocents in danger. :frowns: That's the way things tumble sometimes, eh?

“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”

Making the world safer by eliminating threats to good people.

“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”

:low whistle: That's a good question. Right off the bat: I don't hold with slavery. I won't stand for it. The Drow are good for raiding folks and taking them down to work and die for them, and it's always the regular folks: Rich folks don't get taken as slaves, and it's the rich folks that profit from it.

But maybe there's a law against drinking. My people take drinking as a sacrament and a ritual of bonding together as a community, but some folks don't care for it. I'm not going to start a revolution over a week or two without ale.

“What can you offer the team?”

:smiles, pats bicep: A strong arm, :taps temple: a strong mind, :taps holy symbol brooch clasping his cloak: and the aid of a strong god.

“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”

:solemnly: That's why St. Cuthbert chose me.

“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”

It depends on the mission. If the mission is to grab some gold, I'll save my companion, because good people are better than gold. If it's a mission to save a town, or a nation, or the world... well, I hope they'd choose the mission over me, in that case.

"Who do you pray to?"

I'll rework the mechanics of the character tomorrow but here's the interview. The Character's history might need a couple of minor tweaks but it's pretty much complete

The interview:

Jezalane thanks Kolwyk and takes a seat. Before she can speak, he starts the interview.

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”

Jezalane considers the orbs, not particularly liking the blind questioning. Are they akin to crystal balls allowing a cabal to consider potential agents without revealing themselves? Are they some unique species that manifests as orbs? Are they ... too many choices and not enough information. Speculation is pointless at this point but she’ll have some sort of answers of some sort before she agrees to work for them.

She looked from one orb to another, trying to get a sense of who they were, what they were but they remained a mystery.

“I am Jezalane Ki Nightfalcon, scion of House Nightfalcon. I am the reborn jest of Zagig the mad. I am the studious daughter of Sisters of the Unchained Verse and a Child of Lirr. I am honored to name myself as the pupil of Brolentae Half-Handed. I am she named Blacklock.”

“I arrived in the city three days ago to visit family and it was from a cousin that I acquired a copy of the flyer you cave cast about the city. When I saw a chance to “See Wonders of the World” and dwell in a place named for the greatest symbol of the unknown, I couldn’t resist.”

She knew some of what she said would be a mystery to them and then wondered how much they would know. She suspected that they would know her family’s name as a major merchant house with significant interest in the city. Would they know the name of the mad god Zagig, would they recognize that the Sisters were an order dedicated to Lirr, would they know of Brolentae , the elvish Master of Stars and Song? As she considered the questions she suspected they would. Even so, it was a good opening.

“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”

She considered the question and a chill ran down her spine remembering falling beneath the blades of the undead servants of the necromantic priest of Mellifleur. She remembered the sight of her hand, lying in the dust as it clutched uselessly at the sword she had been so proud of. She remember the horror her eye had been ripped from her at the point of a spear.

She didn’t want to answer but mysteries always had a cost and the truth was a painful coin to pay. “I fear the restless dead. I have suffered their violence and will always remember the face of death. I fear the horror of the fallen, to again be helpless and maimed.”

She poured herself a draft of the thick dark ale in the mug, not something she normally drank but it would do for now. Slowly she exhaled but the tension in the back of her neck didn’t relent. This was the point, tell the truth or walk out the door. The temptation was strong but she wouldn’t let her fears get the best of her.

“The true horror that haunts me is my blood. If you observe me through the will of any divine force you will see that my blood carries a taint that goes back hundreds of years. You will be able to sense the taint of evil I carry with me. I tell you true I have spent everyday of my life resisting it and swear I will not give in to it but it would be a lie to say that it doesn’t call to me.”

She looks around at Kolwyk and pulls a platinum piece from her purse and flips it to him. “Can you get me a decent bottle of wine. An elvish white, preferably a Shandell or a Frostwine would be ideal. If all the questions cut this deep I’ll need something better than this.” With that she takes another deep swig of the ale and looks again at the orbs.

He looks at her for a moment and then steps over to open the door and address someone who waited without.

“You want to know what scares me? You want to know what keeps me up at night. It the dread of the day when I’m not strong enough to resist the call of my ancestors and give myself to my darker desires. It’s the day I lose this battle for my soul and become a monster.”

From near the door Kolwyk continues with the questions.

“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”

Almost shaking with anger at the ease in which they change topics, Jezalane almost misses the odd phrasing of the question. Truly something most sell swords would never contemplate.

“Freedom.” She considers for a second then decides to elaborate. “I value freedom but a freedom that is limited by the good and the just. Order is only righteous if it empowers the individuals freedom and allows them the ability to seek the good.”

“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”

“I speak Common, elvish and Old Oeridian. Given a chance I’d learn every language, especially those that are rare and hide secrets lost to time.

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

Jezalane smiled. “Hopefully having mastered Elenthornae and having returned to my studies with Brolentae in Courwood.” she replied referring to the elvish epic her mentor had presented to her as a test to master before she was ready to return and continue her studies. “I’d like to think I’ll have a family and have put my adventuring days far behind me in pursuit of music and knowledge.”

“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”

She considered this for a moment and despite her native misgivings about the orcish races, who was she to judge anyone by anything other than their actions. “It would depend on what form that support would take and what the consequences would be but that is limitation on ny action. I don’t know what the goal of this council is but unless you give me reason to trust your judgement over mine, I will always ask if a course of action is the correct one. blind obedience isn’t in my nature.”

A moment later he returned and put a bottle and goblet in front of Jezalane. She picked it up and considered the wine. It wasn’t a Shandell but rather a Crunavae which was a fine white. Not quite as a complex vintage but a fine wine none the less. Jezalane looked up at him for a moment and smiled. “Thank you.”

“Do you think you work well with others?”

“Yes.”

“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”

“It would depend upon the mission but in general that would be my native inclination. Rarely is good achieved by tolerating evil situations>”

“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”

She thought for a moment and considered how to phrase her answer. “For Good and Justice. For Love, for knowledge and for ego.” She considered a bit more. “For Family and for honor”

“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”

Jezalane laughed. “I can’t say I’d break the law but I strongly suspect I’d resist it. Obedience to unjust laws is the pathway to evil. More often than not Tyrants seek to maintain their position through a series of unjust laws.”

“What can you offer the team?”

“Loyalty, knowledge, and limited magical support. Songs and good cheer. I also offer a perspective that believes that often the best answers are achieved by soft words, clever planning and a sheathed sword rather than by blood and carnage.”

“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”

“Again, it depends on the mission but if our cause is just then I would pay what price must be paid.

“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”

“Depends on the mission and the consequences of failure. If the cause is right I would die for the mission and so I must accept that it possible that it would be necessary for an ally, a friend to do the same. In my youth I was with a group of adventurers who encountered a priest of Mellifleur. A number of us fell before his necromantic hoards. My allies were forced to fall back and it was only by Rhazels luck that they were able to haul me back to the city with them. If they had left me behind I would have perished but if saving my life could have cost them their chance to regroup and seek reinforcements, it wouldn’t have been worth it. My life wasn’t as important as finding a way to stop the necromancer and his undead horde.”

“I’m very glad they were able to save me but in that case it was less important than the mission.”

"Who do you pray to?"

“I give due respect to all the divine. They are the underpinnings of the world we live in and each has his place in the natural order and should be honored for such. Even so, I trained in convent dedicated to Lirr and it is she who is my most worshipped patron.”

As Jezalane walked away from the hostel she took a deep draft from the bottle of wine in her hand. Whether they offered her service or not, there were mysteries afoot and she wanted to know whomever or whatever was behind the globes and what their mission was.

I am playing the grey elf wizard in the game. she specializes in illusion and enchantment magic. She has the gold hair and purple eyes of the faerie grey elves. If you played a ranger maybe we could be related or at least know each other>

Right now we are trying to get to a city which is soon to be under attack by orcish hordes.

Sovereign Court

Is a drawback allowed for the extra trait?

@Galahad- Drawbacks are allowed, also note that Aldori Dueling Swords are considered elven swords like the curved blade in my campaign. Not saying you cant use it as a human.

In terms of the Greyhawk setting the campaign takes place just before the start of the Greyhawk wars. The group is sent on missions by a secret group of benefactors in conjunction with another group. Right now they are travelling to a walled town sitting along the path of an orcish army. whoever is picked would end up being caught at the wrong place at the wrong time and arrived at the town by mischance as well and then join the group.

And the elf Tanariel used her wily magical charms to bypass a pirate encounter i had laid out...

Sovereign Court

lol, I see you noticed my style :)

Consider this a preemptive dot pending a request: Would you allow me to take levels in the 3.5 edition Suel Arcanamage prestige class?

I know it isn't a common request but I love its flavour and how its prerequisites and such feel like developable RP wise.

I would most likely start as a fighter or swashbuckler with a liking for things arcane and step by step make my way into the PrC.

If that request fails, I still am interested and so will think about it and submit something soon.

Mamma elf didnt raise no fool, lol

Here is my submission for Ollok Stoneguard

Conversation:
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”

The hill dwarf eyes the orbs with disdain making no attempts to show his true feelings about addressing these orbs. Dropping his pack and gear into the chair he pushes it aside and stands before the orbs. Reaching down he picks up the jug and sniffs it before taking a long swig of it. While he drinks his gaze slowly drifts between Kolwyk and the orbs until finally he puts the jug back on the table and speaks,

”So I’m to speak to these glass bowls? Seems to be a lot of mystery just to find some work but let’s be done with this. I am Ollok of the Stoneguard clan. Second-born of Duruk that was born of Brer, who the last son of Merhad Stonesplitter”

“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”

Under his breath you hear him say something in dwarven (“blasted wizards and their magic”)
”My blood be from Karakast which lies in the Cairn Hills. What horrors haven’t I seen? To the south of my home lies the giant tribes and to the north are the cursed orc tribes. While those tribes know to give us berth every now and then one of their foolish leaders think to invade us for our riches. Slow as the giants be, I can tell you from my own eyes that if you don’t respect their strength when their club drops watching your kin be turned into a bloody mess can haunt you for many a decade. Seen one too many deaths that way and that ain’t going to be the way my bones will be rested. That answer your question?”

“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”

”Order and structure. If you think individual freedom will get you anywhere go ask the orcs and giants how far that gets them. Since I could hold an axe I’ve been wielding one. Trained by my father’s father. Without order we would have died to our enemies generations ago. ”

“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”

” Dwarven, Common, Orc, Giantkin.”

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

”Ten years? That’s a short time. Hmmm I couldn’t tell ya – I’ll likely still be here talking to glass bowls. I wasn’t planning on heading back to Karakast for at least 20 or 30 years. So travelling the lands and hopefully cutting down a hundred giants in my wake seems like a good start. Heard word that south of here is the Yatil Mountains and that there is plenty of work there for one of my skills. Even heard that there are tribes of giants and other wretches that live up there. Lots of people have been lost in those mountain passes so heading there is in my near future. ”

“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”

”By the Father of Battle! Work with them? Why would anyone want to do that? It might better to ask me to cut my beard off, because if a dwurfolk were to walk into any of their tribes those wretches would do just that if not worse! Next question.”

“Do you think you work well with others?”

”For the last two decades I have been a Trailblazer in Karakast. You’d likely call me a military scout. Hunting and taking down giants, not so much orcs mind you, takes a combined effort. Better question is can the ones that you put me with work well with me. I don’t believe in dragging my feet like some bored halfling. If things need to be done then I’m for getting them done now.”

“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”

”The mission comes first, but don’t be thinking if I can help innocents from suffering I won’t do my best to come back and aid them. I understand that there are times when hard decisions need be made.”

“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”

”Well I am a simple dwurfolk. Enchanted weapons or armaments always will get my attention. I don’t work for books or any of that other useless stuff you probably have troves of. Hmm there is one thing I am looking for. It’s from an old dwurfolk story. It speaks of a hero of my kind, named Rigi Honoranvil. Rigi was said to have crafted many powerful items for our people, but his greatest creation was an axe forged of the rarest metal, Honor’s Call, that when thrown would fell any opponent it met. So great was this weapon that Rigi crafted a gauntlet of the same ore and only when one wore the gauntlet could Honor’s Call be wielded. It was lost like all of Rigi’s creations. IF you can find me reliable information on this it would be worthwhile to me. ”

“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”

”Sounds like you just asked this question. But I value the law. You cannot have order without law. Thought you would have figured that one for yourself. So I could respect the law even if it is against my own beliefs. ”

“What can you offer the team?”

”A battle hardened dwurfolk is worth ten of anything else you could possible have on this team. Along with my axe skills I can provide this team with one who is skilled in scouting, trapfinding and if need be I’ve had experience opening locks. The bloody giants like to throw the unlucky ones in their pens for eating later. Had to a sneak into a giant camp a couple of times to free some of my kin. Couldn’t think of a fate worse than to be food for one of those brutes.

“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”

”What exactly is this mission? Lots of questions from you and lots of me speaking to these glass bowls. These bowls don’t do any speaking but they seem to communicate enough. If I’m here it means I'm willing to endure suffering to complete this mission. I am dwurfolk giving our word is not taken lightly. You should remember that the next time you speak to one of my kin.

“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”

”You ask a difficult question. If I’ve given my word to complete the mission then mission it must be.” Ollok sighs his eyes show a certain sadness you had not thought possible from this gruff dwarf.“Yes mission it would have to be. If a dwurfolk cannot be trusted on his word he is not worthy to sing the songs of battle that we dwurfolk learn as a babe. There is no shame in this. We all know that the mission is greater than any one of us. And if their deaths, or my own, meant the mission was successful then their last breaths were not in vain. Tales of their glory would be heard instead of whispers of their deceit.”

"Who do you pray to?"
”I have been blessed by the Father of Battle, Clangeddin Silverbeard. May his hand always guide my axes! “

I present.

Dream Interview:

“Aren... Aren! Wake up! Carvosi has been summoned by the local magistrate, he's ready to talk trade. ”
Arendyl Gilvanus slowly opened his eyes and blearily looked at the speaker. “wwwhat?” “Alright. I'm up...” He picked up his head and willed himself to sit up. That seemed to be enough for the young elven man standing in his doorway and the door closed softly. Just as quickly though, Aren rolled back over onto his bed for what he said to himself would just be for ten seconds.

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.” Aren was sitting in a chair inside of a small room. A table with a nondescript jug and a similarly mundane mug resting on top of it were in front of him. He seemed to be addressing nine strangely colored orbs, though the question came from a grey robed man standing to his left side.

”My name is Arendyl Gilvanus, I hail from the Faerie Kingdom of Celene.”

“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?” The grey robed man continued.

”Honestly? I'm afraid our Lady Rhalta of all Elvenkind is going to finally crack completely and build a wall around her kingdom. Expelling every non-elf from inside or even worse executing them. Queen Yolande's policies of isolationism are going to eventually spell the end of her rule. I know I'm young but anyone can see that.”

“Do you value individual freedom and choice or order and structure?”

”Freedom and choice, for sure.” he said nodding. ”The people up top have no idea whats going on down here with the common elves.”

“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”

Aren raises an eyebrow. 'Elven, of course, common, I'm sure you knew that already since we're speaking it. I've always wanted to learn gnomish. One of my tutors as a young elfling was a gnome. I always wanted to know what he was saying when he was upset with me.”

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

With a glance to to the robed man, Aren says ”You realize that's like me asking you what you're doing next week right? Uh, well, I imagine I'll still be exploring the lands around Celene. Although, my father used to ride Hippogriffs for Yolande's military. I always thought that was fantastic. The Hippogriff riding part anyway. At the mention of his father, Aren seemed to become a little sullen as he drifted back to a brief memory.

“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”

Aren raises both eyebrows. Where exactly are we going with this? Those beasts killed my father! He looks to the table, pours himself a mug of the mystery liquid. After a slow tug off of the cup, he continues as though a thought occurred to him. It would have to be a pretty serious turn of events for me to consider that.

“Do you think you work well with others?”

”Oh yeah, for sure. I've been a caravan guard for a while now. Traveling down the Wild Coast. I've met many nice folk of all sorts. I've been able to fit in well with the caravan and those I've met along the way.”

“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”

”I guess it depends on the mission. The greater good and all that. In general though? Yeah, nobody should have to suffer, let alone those that don't deserve it.”

“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”

I didn't leave the forest to get rich. I took the job with the caravan to experience the world. I imagine that could be considered a form of payment.

“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”

I'm not a fan of people telling me what I can and can't do. Id rather just take care of the problem and we can work out the rules issues later.”

“What can you offer the team?”

”Well, I'm a pretty solid woodsman, survival; tracking; trapping; you name it. I'm good with a sword, better with a bow. Oh, I've also been taught some pretty basic arcane spells to help get along with other non-elves.”

“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
That depends on the mission. If it's for wealth only, I might be less willing to sacrifice myself. If there is something more at stake, I'd pretty much go as far as I needed to go.”

“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”

[b]”Totally situational. Saving my companions would be heavily weighted in favor of though. It would have to be really critical for me to abandon my friends.”

"Who do you pray to?"

”Well, I was raised a follower of Corellon of course. In my time with humans though I've found the teachings of Trithereon to be quite inspiring. Ah, what's the quote again? “All deserve life and the ability to choose their own place in the world, and those who would place others in shackles or control them with oppressive laws must be toppled.” That just seems right to me.”

Everything fades away into fog and Aren hears his name being called “Aren! Damnit! You were supposed to have been up. Lets go!” Aren bolts back up to a sitting position and sees Von at the door again. “Right. Sorry. I was just having the strangest dream. I'll be ready very quickly.”
