Need to find Wolfs bane.

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

My party has had a bit of a scuffle with at least one Werewolf clan, and now feel the need for a drink made from Wolfs bane. what are the rules for searching for, and finding, a plant in the wild? We do not have a Ranger or druid in the group, I'm hoping survival skill will be enough. So far the only two bitten have the highest fort saves, but I fear others will be bitten soon.

Do you have an Alchemist?
After finding the required plants, it would also require a DC-16 Craft(alchemy) to brew the wolfsbane as a poison.

The closest thing I am finding for searching for a plant is the "Scrounging for Esoteric material components" in the Unchained rules. That section suggests a DC-15 Knowledge(nature) check.

Someone in party makes a Knowledge (nature) check, if GM determines the roll is high enough, he'll tell you where you can find some.
If no matter how high you roll and GM says you can't find any, it means he doesn't want you to find any and you'll need to plan accordingly: invest in lots of silver weaponry and get away as fast as possible.

Survival is more for scrounging up food and hunting and wilderness skills, but finding specific herbs and plants should be knowledge (nature).

If no one in the party has knowledge (nature) simply because no one's playing a nature-themed character or it's not a class skill, then your party is boned by their own doing and should do the silver+retreat thing if lycanthropes are becoming a big issue.

Scarab Sages

Profession (Herbalist) would be the best skill for the job.

Knowledge (Nature) would work for identifying the plant once found, and knowledge of the general area one would grow. Finding it in the wild might be Perception, rather than a knowledge check.

Profession (Gardener) or Craft (Alchemy) could also probably be used to identify the herb, though neither would aid in finding where it naturally grows or locating the plant in it's native setting.

Profession (Merchant), Craft (Alchemy), or Knowledge (Local) might also work if you intend to purchase the herb (or to hire a herbalist to gather it for you), rather than locating it in the wild.

I agree with Protoman regarding Survival.

Thanks for the advice. We are three days from everywhere, so it looks like some of us may have hair on their palms in the near future. I have a +10 on my fort save so I "should" be ok.
