CRB-only Skull and Shackles

I'm a level 5 cleric starting the second part of S&S in a core rulebook only campaign. What can I do to mitigate the chances of drowning?

Wis 18 (16 + 2 racial)
Cha 16 (14 + 2 headband)

Swim isn't a class skill and I've a poor strength so investing skill points into isn't really worthwhile.

So what spells and/or items can I have found in the CRB that will help with my poor swimming ability?


Water walking and water breathing. Both spells are 3rd level spells and you can cast them as 5th level cleric. Ring of water walking, potions of water breathing. A necklace of adaptation. That's about it really. There are more option if it's not CRB only. CRB seem strange for S&S as the AP uses option from the Ultimate Combat book.


You missed a great item: Cloak of the Manta Ray. At 7,200, it is probably too expensive until high level, but it gives water breathing and a swim speed. That means full mobility in water, unlike the water breathing spell only.
