I wouldn't normally ask this, but...JEEEZUS, look at that. I don't suppose you'd allow a reroll?

And I think I've got some vestiges that could knock your socks off - I promise you NONE OF THEM are based on Justice League/Avengers members!

One reroll for gold is fine. That's a lot of ones. I know that thread pretty well, since I tracked down all of the official vestiges including the one from Shackled City based on the reports they sent out. And no worries on the homebrew vestiges. I've played this game in some form for way toooooooooooooooooooooooooo long, so I'm pretty good judge after 30+ years (I'm getting old. I remember ThAC0...)

@Derz yup reroll 1s and 2s until you get higher. I know, I'm such a power gamer GM. The point buy gods will punish me in the afterlife.

Show Me the Money!: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 1, 2) = 9 X 10 = 90 gp F&+$ing tomb robbers, right?

Given the nature of Shabti, would you be willing to extend them eligibility for the Breadth of Experience feat?

So... I have both the Young and Mature character options PDF's from 4 Horsemen Press. Would I be able to use them if I shared them with you? Also, if you haven't, In the Company of Unicorns is really well done.

Mummy's Mask creation rules

Pardon me for not asking this sooner - where can I find the Mummy's Mask creation rules and Campaign traits? I sure hope I don't have to own them myself....

Also, may I repurpose the Ustalavic Noble Regional trait to better fit the background of an Ancient Osirian Shabti (same benefits, but instead of an Ustalavic Regional Trait, make it either an Osirian Regional Trait or a Shabti Racial Trait)? The idea is that my character is the remains of an ancient dynasty somebody wanted forgotten....

In the free players guide...

@Hiding In Your Closet, Nope they are in the free player's guide. You can find it on Paizo's store. Yup Breadth of Experience fits as does the other trait. They can both apply to Shabti.

@Rungok Sure. I also have all of the monster paragon books from Rite Publishing. The Unicorn one is extremely well done.

Been thinking about Elton and I'm going to change his bloodline. Decided I'm not that into the Undead bloodline that much. Not happy with how that fits into his background, or with his most useful spells at higher levels (to leverage the bloodline).

Besides, I'd rather blow up undead than control them. :)

Will have him updated tonight.

I just need to get my backstory figured out, figured he would be a descendant of from the Pharaoh's family. Probably of an exiled brother who wandered the desert for years keeping the memory of his lineage from dying out in all the following generations.

Since it could potentially carry consequences down the road (a character's traits being limited to one per category and all, and I've been known to take the Additional Traits feat), would you now classify it as an Osirian regional trait, or a Shabti racial trait?

New crunch in profile.

Stormcrow, would you allow Elton to have both crossblooded and wildblooded archetypes? FAQ says no, but some DMs permit so I thought I'd ask. I've added stat block for both soloblooded and crossblooded Elton in the profile if you want to review.

Scarab Sages

I added the Spell Vulnerability (Abjuration) Major Drawback in exchange for Divine Defiance. Sound alright?

Also, what would you say to this as a custom Racial Favored Class Bonus for a Shabti Binder:

+1/5 additional Pact Augmentation; these must each be spent on a different type of Pact Augmentation in any given instance.

Sweet. I'm doing the stat roll now.

I have spoiler'd it cause it turned out longer than expected.

I think I want to make a Taurian Cleric. I'm excited since I don't see many DM's allow cool content like this and I have all the 'company of' pdfs since I'm friends with one of the writers and I like supporting the 3rd party scene.

I'll pull myself out of this one; though the character fits well, I'd rather let those people who want to do cool, not typically allowed builds while they have a GM willing to let 'em roll it.

Thanks!

@Kragmar sorry to see you go. Have fun with your other games.

@Elton So in this case you're losing one more spell known, but gaining a +2 damage to all fire spells of which you have none at 1st level which is essentially being elemental twice. And you get a penalty of -2 to Will saves and really only have one bloodline power variant at 9th. So you're a really elementally linked dragon sorcerer. I assume to brass or something else that's a fiery dragon who lives in deserts? The extra two points per die is a nice boost, but it's only with fire magic, so it's controllable. Hmm, a pyromaniacal Halfling? Fire Fire Fire, Burn, burn, burn? Well keep out of the wooden tombs for that guy.

@rungok May I suggest something other then a cleric? We have two clerics already as submissions, so a different type of divine caster like a druid, an inquisitor, a shaman, hunter, oracle, etc? Or even the unicorn archetype and go the priestly route?

@Fionnind sure. I would suggest something other then a scarab stalker, since we had one in the group before and someone else submitted another a bit ago. Dinosaurs and reptiles seem to be the general theme.

@He's Hiding in My Closet I would go with a different spell vulnerability. With the exception of glyphs of warding and symbols, there aren't many damaging abjuration magic spells. Evocation or conjuration or transmutation or enchantment would make far more sense.
So at 20th level you would have eight pact augmentations, and if everything Smilo Dan did was allowed you would have DR 16/epic? Let's knock that down to a bonus to binding checks or improving DCs on powers, etc.

Well there are the nasty prismatic spells to be fair and some counter spelling if I recall correctly.

I'm starting to feel like my simple character concept is kind of lost amid all these optional rules and third party stuff that I'm not that worried about right now.

Should I withdraw? Does this simplicity give me less chance at getting in?

No Hoss'r it does not. After rungok, fionnind, derz, and I'm hiding in your closet finish their characters, we're closing this recruitment down and letting the players and I decided on what they want to run with. Otherwise I'll have 87 more submissions before dinner.

And we have a couple of simple builds in the game already. There is a stock cleric and a human bard archaeologist already, and then we have two 3rd party archetype or class (paladin/time thief). All of them are base or planetouched Paizo races, (Aasimar, human, half-elf, and half-orc).

Scarab Sages

Abjuration makes sense since as a Binder I'm sort of 'destabilized' in my place in the planes, but I'll switch it to Transmutation (flaw in the Shabti-making process, I suppose).

stormcrow27 wrote:

Please let me clarify: It would actually be 9 (by 20th level), but I specifically made it so that super-stacking like you posit there would NOT be possible. "These must each be spent on a different type of Pact Augmentation in any given instance." In other words, each of these bonus Augmentations would have to provide a different benefit from the lists (and we could even say that they also had to be different from any of the regular Pact Augmentations I chose). Does it sound more reasonable that way?

Favored class boons fra paizo are usually 1/6th or 1/8th of a feat, with maybe a handfull being 1/4th of a feat. Is there a feat for "extra pact augumentation"? Or is that too powerful for a feat? Either way getting 1/5th sounds like pushing it...

Scarab Sages

I don't think it would be too powerful for a feat, or inappropriate for one...but there is no feat for such, presently (bear in mind this is an unofficial update to a 3.5 class published by Wizards of the Coast). The trick with an hypothetical "Extra Pact Augmentation" feat is that, due to their nature, a cap would need to be placed on how many times it could be taken. Most of them don't grant "abilities" as such, just incremental statistical edges, so they're not more powerful pound for pound - the thing is, they can normally be stacked (which is why I put the limit of these extras not being stackable). Otherwise, I'd consider them more powerful than Ki/Grit/Evolution points (the kinds of things Favored Class Bonuses usually grant in 1/4 installments), but less powerful than Rogue Talents/bonus combat feats/Arcana/Discoveries/Hexes (usually granted in 1/6), so by that rubric, 1/5 seems about right.

Let's go with 1/6 for the time being.

Scarab Sages

Ok.

Scarab Sages

LOOK UPON MY WORKS, YE MIGHTY!

I think that this about covers it, aside from purchasing more stuff.

I'll go over the Tome of Magic vestiges and PM you Pathfinder-updated versions (mostly for rules adaptations, only for power adjustment in some cases), then some of my custom specimens later.

Do we have a list of applicants? I'm still interested, with Nenet as the submitted character. :)

Just for the sake of asking, should the limit on major drawbacks be 2?

We can take up to two flaws/major drawbacks and up to two drawbacks.

A list and a deadline to finish submission would be nice... Before this weekend? Saturaday? Over the weekend?

Thanks Zariya, I'm done my character mechanically speaking, just making sure all the numbers add up and everything. There is something I need to ask you but I will pm you about that.

Ok i can go full unicorn. That sounds fun!

Silvermane exemplar it is!

Over the weekend is fine. I'll put together a list tomorrow.

I'm resubmitting Taegan for this. Just found the thread.

Do you have a backstory for Taegan?

List of submissions

Taegan Nightwind Avariel (flying elf) Magus Singer of Blades
Rungok Silvermane exemplar unicorn
Ja'far Mahavira Human Separatist Cleric
Nenet Human Psychic
Ozymandis Omega Shabti Binder
Hoss'r Stonekind Oread Phalanx Fighter
Bygone Vanaran Cleric Herald Caller
Elton Thistledown Crossblooded/Wildblooded Dragon/Primal (fire) Sorcerer
Fionnid Mac'Cuainn Half-elf Hunter
Nyssul Rapolton Mereitaur (half-minotaur so to speak) fighter
Aaliah Lashunta Scarab Stalker Hunter
Seraia Drowtouched Elf Custom illusionist/tracjer
Alexis Elf Custom Sniper
Will Erland Human Zweihander specialist (Warder)

Still waiting on a couple. Recruitment ends on Monday.

Fionnid SHOULD be up to date now. I was going to scrap him and make a Swashbuckler but I didn't have the stats for it. I'm happy with how he turned out though.

It looks like you forgot to pick hunter spells, Fionnid, along with the racial traits for a half-elf like skill focus. Your HP should also be 9 with a Con of 12. You can also take two flaws or major drawbacks for more feats if you like.

Scarab Sages

So, does it look like I'm missing anything?

Scarab Sages

Maybe add links to visages/copy/paste visages?

Mainly useful if your using a bunch of custom ones. Common stat mods with frequently used ones if your feeling organized :)

Small Size: Re’em are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a -1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.

replaces the nature’s ally racial trait.
Aura of Purity:Re’em exude an aura of purity, as such, all conjuration (healing) cast within a 10’ radius have their caster level increased by 1 for the purpose of determining damage healed, or damage inflicted upon undead.

Quadrupeds are limited to using the following item slots: armor, belt (saddle only), chest, ears (earing only), eyes, headband, horn, neck, shoulders, and wrist. Armor for quadrupeds is double the cost of armor for a humanoid of the same size.
Quadrupeds have a greater carrying capacity than humanoids, multiplying the carrying capacity value for their Strength as follows: Fine x1/4, Diminutive x1/2, Tiny x3/4, Small x1, Medium x1 ½, Large x3, Huge x6,
Gargantuan x12, Colossal x24. Quadrupeds also gain a +4 bonus to CMD against overrun and trip combat maneuvers from their extra legs.

CLASS FEATURES:
Weapon/Armor Prof:The silvermane exemplar is proficient only with natural attacks. She is proficient with no armor or shields.
Alicorn Ability (Su):At 1st level, the silvermane exemplar learns to channel their innate power through their horn, granting them a pool of magical energy to utilize in order to fuel their various abilities. This alicorn pool builds as their experience increases, totaling ½ of the silvermane exemplar’s level (minimum 1) + her Charisma modifier. So long as a single point remains in the silvermane
exemplar’s pool, she can cast mage hand at will as a spell-like ability. The pool refreshes once per day. At 1st level, silvermane exemplar can expend 1 point from their alicorn pool as a swift action to grant their horn a +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute. For
every four levels beyond 1st, the horn gains another +1 enhancement bonus, to a maximum of +5 at 17th level. These bonuses can be added to the horn, stacking with existing weapon enhancements to a maximum of +5. Multiple uses of this ability do not stack with themselves.
At 5th level, these bonuses can be used to add any of the following weapon properties: axiomatic, benevolent, conductiveAPG, corrosive, corrosive burst, flaming, flaming burst, frost, ghost touch, holy, icy burst, keen, lifesurge (UE), shock, and shocking burst. Adding these properties consumes an amount of bonus equal to the property’s base price modifier. These properties are added to any the horn already has, but duplicates do not stack. If the horn is not magical, at least a +1 enhancement bonus must be added before any other properties can be added. These bonuses and properties are decided when the arcane pool point is spent and cannot be changed until the next time the exemplar uses this ability. These bonuses do not function if the weapon is wielded by anyone other than the exemplar.
Additionally, at 1st level and every 2 levels thereafter, she may select one of the following abilities:
Alicorn Translocation:As a move action silvermane exemplar can expend 1 point from their alicorn pool to instantaneously teleport to any other spot within 25 ft. +5 ft./2 exemplar class levels. Activating this ability does not provoke an attack of opportunity nor does teleporting into or out of a threatened square. If the spot chosen is
within line of sight, she arrives there unerringly. If the destination is not in line of sight, the exemplar must be able to visualize the spot or state the direction and distance to it, but the hop has a 25% chance of a mishap and she cannot take any further actions until her next turn. No matter what the destination, a silvermane can transport only herself and a maximum of 100 lbs. (or her maximum load, whichever is less) of objects she can carry or touch. A silvermane exemplar cannot transport any creature except her familiar or an animal companion or cohort of up to Tiny size (whose weight counts against
her load limit). If she suffers a mishap or arrives in a place already occupied by a solid body, she and any creatures with her take 1d6 points of damage and are shunted to the closest random open space on a suitable surface of the intended location.
If the exemplar is at least 8th level this may function as dimension door instead. If a silvermane exemplar selects this ability a second
time and is at least 9th level, this may function as teleport. If she has done this and is at least 14th level, this may function as greater teleport. If she has done this and is at least 20th level this may function as interplanetary teleport. (See Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Ultimate Magic).
Improved Natural Amor:As long as the silvermane exemplar has at least one point in her alicorn pool her hide becomes thicker, giving her a +2 bonus to her natural armor. This alicorn ability can be taken once for every five levels the silvermane exemplar possesses.

Herd (Magic):Many re’ems specialize in expanding upon natural magical gifts, allowing them to rival the greatest mortal mages.
Herd Ability – Add 4 points to her alicorn pool. Knowledge (arcana) is a class skill for those of the Magic caste.

Glimmermane's History::

Glimmermane is still a relatively young foal of the desert Re'em, the unicorns of the Osirian desert. He, like many of his young bretheren, know taht avoiding two-legged life was necessary, but their history was just so fascinating that Glimmermane couldn't help but slip into their ancient ruins and sand-buried temples and investigate on his own. He wasn't the strongest, or toughest of his kind, but he had a talent for popping out of sight of potential hunters.
Lately, though, things have been changing. His tribe, mostly unicorns with red and orange coats, have been growing concerned with his still snow-white coat and have been fearing for his safety, since he was much more easily identified as one of the Re'em by two-legged spectators. Glimmermane has since sneaked away from the tribe and seeks out adventure both to prove he was capable of taking care of himself, but also that not all two-legs are terrible people.

I'm more than willing to expound upon this background if I get selected and know more about the party I'd be playing with. I can tailor it to help fit me into the group with less shoe-horning required.

Thanks! I was editing in the feat now. Took Alicorn Versatility. I never did flaws before, got any suggestions? I will be selecting traits in just a bit.

[Edit]Traits and Drawback Selected, I think they fit well with my character's personality. Still don't know about flaws though.

No worries you can use either as you wish or not.

Do we get traits of feats for Drawbacks?

Feats for major drawbacks/flaws. Traits for minor drawbacks.

Is there a list to distinguish between them? I took Paranoid and Doubt but can't tell what level they are.
