Mtg:Zendikar / Dnd 5th ed crossover game Interest Check

Recruitment

So I saw this. And yes its official.

Zendikar Dnd 5th edition

And kinda got the itch to start a game. Anyone out there interested? If so, I'd probably make it an expedition party of sorts, have a five player group, each player representing a different color of mana.

I'm interested, and would be interested in blue (my favorite color and also my favorite magic color!).

what level of game would you be looking at running?

Not sure yet. I'm looking into the creature guide in the supplement and seeing what would be best.

White or Black would interest me! I wondered when they would finally get around to this type of crossover at WoTC.

As with Vrog above, I am certainly interested in the details.

Liberty's Edge

I'd also like to express my interest in the game, I haven't played MTG in awhile but I'm familiar with the settings, and I've been itching to give 5e a try in a game that hopefully doesn't fail. From my MTG days I'm a primarily mono-black player, but I've also been known to dabble in black/red, so red could also interest me. :)

All kinds of interested. Zendikar was probably my favorite block I ever played in.

My tendencies are toward W/B (with the occasional dip into R or G), but I could settle on just one of those if need be.

If I could ask/offer a suggestion, it might be fun to play planeswalkers. I know that we would have to be higher level, but that could be fun too. I haven't played anything 5th edition higher than 5th level, so I would like a chance to try the higher end of things.

If enough interest, I intend to have the group as a expedition group to fight eldrazi (non-canon occurrences because I don't have time to read weeks of material).

But, there is a distinct possibility something might....*spark*

I'm interested (particularly as a relative of Jori En). Where on the timeline of superfriends interference are you thinking?

Since there isn't much interest in Green as of yet, I'm thinking a disciple of Kiora could be fun.

This actually looks fun. I played MtG when it first came out and then off and on til about 7th edition,so I'm a little out of the loop storywise, but I love dnd and would be happy to join such a game. I see a lot of interest in Black, and that would have been my choice (Sengir Vampire deck anyone? ), but since it is so prevalent, Blue or Red works too.

Interest so far:

Vrog - Blue.
Kiradia - Red or Black.
Storyteller Shadow - Black or White.
Jiggy - Black or White (but could live with Red or Green).
Petty Alchemy - Green.
Shadow Bloodmoon - Black (but could live with Red or Blue).

We have more interest than colors! :-) Unless you count artifacts as the 6th color...

Looks like a decent amount of interest.

For a recruitment thread, do you guys think we should stick to the usual 1 submission per player, or expand to two since I'm going one of each color specific?

I would say two in this case just because you have certain criteria that the characters will need to fit into that isn't very generalized. That way, each interested person has a chance to play what they want and you are almost guaranteed to have a well rounded color group.

I would support two as well.

Sure two, why not.

So much yes. I'll do a character when I get home.

Dotting this. I'll see if I can work something (preferring White and Green as second).

By the way, why specifically are you doing a party of single-color-aligned PCs? Does color alignment do something in-game? (I haven't had a chance to read the document.)

Not that I've read in my cursory reading, but one of the themes of Zendikar is Allies working together to overcome various obstacles. I'd like to keep that spirit going.

So, like, getting aligned with white wouldn't keep me from learning burning hands or whatever? (I'm a fan of versatility, both in M:tG and in D&D, so being put on monocolor makes me a little leery.)

The color pie is full of overlap.

For the white/burning hands example, I'd say you're well within color. After all, Light domain Clerics are surely White, but get Burning Hands/Fireball as domain spells.

Could be thought of as damage to attacking/blocking creatures.

Thinking about it more, while creatures are usually divided by the five mana colors, there's a lot of fun and flexibility when it comes to secondary colors as well.

So as well as the possibility of a *spark*, you may also be exposed to another color.

There's seems to be enough interest, so I'll be putting together a recruitment thread sometime today I think.

I'd be interested as red character (I love goblins), with white and blue as secondaries.

However, I would be willing to use any colour except for green for my character. I have ideas for every colour except that one.

When I play MTG, I usually use a blue/black deck, so I'd be interested to see how this turns out.

I'm considering throwing in an elf ranger or druid (green of course, with a bit of red for that primal essence) and/or a human wizard (blue, with red as secondary).

Official recruitment thread is up.
