Yes! This is a thing! And it's already funded and going strong with unlocking even MORE stuff!
I will straight up admit that the rules don't interest me as much as the iconic minis. Which they're a lot of ^w^
Want to kill your PCs with Ornstein the Dragonslayer, The Pursuer, or Manus, Father of the Abyss?
Or have your own character represented by iconic armor sets such as the Darkwraith's or Havel the Rock's?
You can totally do that now :3

I was taking a look the other day. Minis look good, and the fact that it's Steamforged Games is a good sign, I've never had an issue with their quality for Guild Ball. Price per mini is generally a little high, especially when you look at the resin versions of the teams, but always good quality, and on the odd occasion where there's a miscast or a missing part, they're very quick to send replacements.
Haven't even looked at rules yet, given that I'm trying to stop spending too much on Kickstarter...

It's hard!
Trying to quit Kickstarter that is. No idea about the game, but considering what it's based on...

If it were just pics of the graphics I would be concerned but a bunch of them are of the prototype minis.
Dark Souls is basically a post apocalyptic dark fantasy video game series and this board game incorporates various creatures from the series into it.
They had a AmA recently but most of the rules for the board game are still up in the air.
As I said in my first post I'm mostly backing this to get some iconic Dark Souls minis ^w^

Yeah, the base game renders look alright - maybe not upto 'Blood Rage' or 'Conan' quality, hopefully there won't have to be too many changes to make the actual physical product.
Pity they mentioned the AMA's but not what they are, where you could find them or any actual information - but I suppose they are really for the Souls diehards. I just hope the rules are half decent, or at least elegant; a comparison to an existing game would be useful.

Rules not having been designed yet is definitely worrying, but I'm only backing this for the minis, so... Meh. I've got enough dungeon crawling board games, anyway...
I just want to throw Ornstein and Smough at my Pathfinder players. :p
^ THIS
But yeah it would suck if the game itself isn't any fun to play, but I'll still have the minis, and that is what I Iz after :3

Um they did mention where they were having them, did you not get the emails?

Looks like the next set of addons will all be NPC invaders. Which is fine, I guess. It'd be nice if they get to doing some more big non-humanoid monsters soon, although I guess "dude with a sword" is what Dark Souls does the most...
What I'd love to see added: Queelaag, Sif, some drakes, the Rotten... probably more I've forgotten, doing this from memory. And still working on Dark Souls 3, so can't think of any recommendations from that yet! Although the Crystal Sage would be an interesting miniature, at least.

They haven't actually specified any bosses beforehand to my knowledge, we just end up unlocking them. I believe anyway.

That is so true. Actually, knowing the quality of their Guildball sculpts I was somewhat disappointed by the work in progress pictures we've seen. It's as if the sculpting quality has been lowered overall. A lot of refinements and finishing touches simply aren't there. They don't look like miniatures. They look like .... board game playing pieces.
Admittedly, as playing pieces for a boardgame go, they are pretty amazing but, as a man with a large collection of miniatures, the quality of these sculpts seems slightly disappointing. Not massively disappointing 'though. I've wanted a miniature of the iconic Dark Souls knight for ages now. Finally I'll be able to start seriously considering a Darkest Dungeon/Dark Souls inspired "Crusader" in my games of Pathfinder without having to look for a less appropriate placeholder mini :).

For those interested in the AMAs this was just posted in a Kickstarter email update a few hours ago:
"Today on Reddit (/r/boardgames) we will be hosting an AMA starting at 12:00 till 13:00BST. This will give you a great opportunity to ask those burning questions to the game's designers. We'll be putting the post up at 11:00 so you can ask your questions early so Rich can start answering immediately."

Up next, Oliver the Collector!
... who I have absolutely no recollection of ever fighting...
Oh, he's THAT guy. Yeah, I remember him killing me...
He's only in Scholar of the First Sin edition of DS2, so is a bit more obscure than the other invaders they've added.

Oh yeah!
I remember him now! Mostly because I didn't fight him cause the game never summoned him where it said he should be.
Annoyed the crap out of me >_<

I think it's Fencer Sharron from SotFS. I remember her killing me several times just outside Iron Keep, too!
Rysky |
Ah ha! Thankies ^w^
For some reason I thought she looked like something else, but then again in the Dragon Aerie I sniped her so I didn't get the best look, and I got killed by her real quick in Iron Keep and when I went back I fought Armourer Dennis instead.
Weird... but wouldn't be the first screwy thing involving invaders in that place *shakes fists at Oliver*
