Elf Equivalencies

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

If Pathfinder was set in a general fantasy environment, would the standard-build elves or tower elves be more akin to high elves?

Define high elf. I bet the process of describing what you mean will answer your question for you.

Mordant spire elves are distant, aloof, and segregated from normal society. So if that is what you want in high elves, then sure, fine.

But they aren't in a high enough general positon for what I view high elves. That would be the upper echelons of Kyonin.

Really, if you want a clear high elf/wood elf separation, you aren't going to find much of one. At least not at a satisfactory universal level. You might find wild elves of mwangi, and label them your 'wood' elves,a dn then the standard ones 'high' elves... but that again, doesn't seem appropriate since kyonin elves just have a much more expansive influence and presence.

Really depends on what this "general fantasy high elf" is like.

Would the difference between say a High Elf and a Wood elf be reflected in their racial abilities? Or would it be more of a cultural difference?
I imagine wood elves being rangers/witches etc more, and High Elves would be Paladins & Wizards.

Is it something that you can manage with role-playing & class differences (generally, you can of course have the occasional Wood Elf Paladin & High Elf Ranger) or are you looking to make them actually different races?

Dragaera has only a single race of elves, but there is confusion over if it is the Dragaerans (7' tall) or the Easterners (5' tall). The other race is human.

Darksun has desert elves.

Asgard has elves.

LotR has elves.

Lots of choices for what your elves are.
