What are the pros and cons of the Prometean Alchemist and the Homonculist Alchemist?

I love the flavor of crafting/having a useful little gargoyle-like familiar, and these archetypes both seem to give me that. But I know NOTHING about the alchemist class, how it works or anything else, really.

So any advice as to what either archetypes do well, or whether theres a different option all-together would be great!

Any suggestions? I've looked at a couple of alchemist guides, but they dont mention these archetypes...

The Promethean gets a better if non-standard pet and a very little crafting (constructs only, no potions) but is crippled by the amount of things it has to give up. The Homunculist crafts the usual (for an alchemist) potions and has a 'normal' improved familiar and keeps the alchemist bombs which should make it easier to play.

If you want an alternative you might look up the Construct Rider archetype. It too sacrifices a lot - it's not a strong archetype - but it's better than the Promethean.

I'd note that crafting constructs is not as useful in a standard game as almost any other crafting feat. Potions are just one step above that. If you want to do a lot of crafting you probably want to go with a different class.
