Oki, will do. I will create stuff for the swamp area as I go along the journey of life.
I already have some ideas on what the capital looks like, unusual to the usual urban cities, making use of the deadly swamp. Also how the swamp is structured. Will add all sorts of creatures in the swamp. This of course if you don't have something already for the area.
How big is the swamp? I take it the kingdom most likely occupies whole swamp.

@Chingo, Think in the Creation part of the book (page: 5), I think one must first start by choosing Race before Ability Scores adjustments, as most races have a CP cost.
I got too tired last night to begin building character. Just dotted swamp ideas for background. Think you like what I be coming up for the swamp kingdom.
Have started building this morning.
Kazurrariss is a female black skymp sorcerer with tarn linnorm bloodline. Currently neutral alignment, may go chaotic or evil due to linnorm lineage.

Hi Æroden.
So, Slam and Spell-Like Ability, and Fragile and Light Blindness. Heh.
For SLA, at will is a bit OP, so it'll probably only be like 3/day or something.
How do you want your mutant to look and where do you want him to hail from?
Wow, the thread really blew up yesterday!
That's totally cool on the SLA; I agree that at-will ends up being a bit much.
Honestly, I'm really fond of the mutant image you provided in the Player's Guide; he looks like some sort of half-tree, and I think that's rather cool. Light Blindness, however, suggests dark, so maybe modified a bit to be more "half-fungus," and have him hail from either a very dense swampland, or some underground cavern complex.
I'll get tuned on the mechanics and the rest of my CP buy later on today.

@DD lol :)
@Kazurrarris Ok DarkOne, but good that you are making progress.
@Master Han Del - Okay, let's see. Mutants are odd indeed, but they aren't an oddity in the sense of being super rare. Some have been around since the Great Blast, others are descended from mutants. What else would you like to know about them?
Gavmania |
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, you'll begin as level 3.
I've been looking at this, but won't you be underpowered if you use this system? I mean standard Wealth by level for level 3 is 3000gp, which costs 750CP, but you only start with 500cp, and you also have to buy Attribute increases, Race, Traits and Feats out of that. Is this intentional, to make it a low magic start?

The PCs will each get something to make up for it.

Let's see...
Are there any particularly famous or infamous ones? Are there any relatively welcoming or unwelcoming places for their kind?
Chingo Chaplo |
Here's some example of notable mutants in Aetheras:
There's Ariboli Vartush, a mutant brantar who is a famous traveling psion and wizard, and writer of travel books and historical works.
Zeira Vyl Bara is the Cerilian Arch Hierophant of Calisha.
Then there is Phasra the Faceless, an Astalarian vardeen (a common term which means adventurer or sword for hire) of some renown.
There's also Drexin Moruke, a crime boss of the Skrogus Vol (feared international crime syndicate).
Where do mutants live?
Mutants live in ghettos in the city, in the sewers, in tribes of mutants in the wilds, in alternative communities such as The City of Ghouls, etc.

K. I read the guide, and I think it's pretty cool. Nice job on the world creation, and the layout looks phenomenal. I would assume you are in graphic design or some type of formatting career. Noice!
I think a Mutant Kineticist would be perfect. I'm going to dip my toes in the crazy bin:
Mutations: 2d20 ⇒ (2, 15) = 17 Oh, did you mean a Bulbous Eye and a Slam? I would like to re-roll the slam, as I'm not sure it fits with a kineticist. That said, I can work with it...
Deformities: 2d12 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 Blind? Did you say Blind? With a bulbous eye? Bwayahahahahahahaaaaaa
Oh wait, I also have an extra head? Are both heads blind with bulbous eyes? I can't find extra head on the linked page to the pfsrd...
I have optimized mutations and deformities! I love this character already, and I haven't even thought about a name. Perhaps I will go with: Great Googily Moogily...
General Dissa Ray |
Ooooohhh yeah!!!
Can I trade my slam for some more fitting mutation? I'll let you pick or roll.
Maybe the one with the bulbous eye is blind to regular daylight, and the "normal" head can't see in low light or darkness. That would give a true daytime personality and a night time personality. Bulbous eye head could be nocturnal, and regular head could have a normal sleep cycle.
This is amazing!
Can I have until Monday to actually build a character? Those profiles are kind of labor-intensive...
Master Han Del of the Web |
Do you have anything in mind for the various types of magics?
Divine, as always, has a pretty obvious source and place in the world.
Otherwise, we have Psychic, Psionic, and Arcane.
Are they all different methods of grasping the same power?
How does the average joe view magic?
Is it relatively common?
Chingo Chaplo |
Googily - Yeah, a mutant can be small.
Crafting is an option. What sort of custom items are we talking about?
Han Del - Arcane draws on the arcane flux, an ambient force, while psionic draws on the power of the mind. That's the short explanation so far. Magic is viewed as just another strange and dangerous element of a strange and dangerous world. It is relatively common.
Googily Moogily |
@DoubleD: I thought that same thing about slam. Empty hands will be pretty cool for an Aether-based Telekineticist.
@ChingoChaplo: I would also put a link to the most current player guide in either the campaign thread or the discussion thread. The current link is buried in post ~30 on the recruiting discussion.
I'll probably change my name, per GM recommendation. I do think this character will be super memorable. Two heads! Bulbous Eye! Blind! It does lend itself to some silliness...
