Kitsune Vigilante

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

If I was running a Kitsune Vigilante, who is fox form for Vigilante, and human form for Social, would both her Appear Human + 10 Disguise and her + 20 Disguise to not know stack (assuming a character got a check in her social form)?

I would say they stack because they are from different sources

And the +10 from Change Shape, which applies more broadly.

I'm inclined to believe the sources would stack.

Its a bit more complicated a question.

If they are trying to determine your race with a perception check, you would only get the bonus to appearing human. If they beat that Disguise check, they will know you are not human and may potentially know your a kitsune. Assuming they make the appropriate (knowledge local?) check to determine your a kitsune and that kitsune can sometimes turn into foxes, the racial bonus would probably not stack.

That being said, if they were merely trying to figure out if you were the vigilante and couldn't care less about your race, there are situations wherein the two may stack ("we are looking for a fox. You are a human. You check out.").

"This humble pilgrim has no clue what one is speaking of. Rabid, frothing foxes demanding justice and screaming bloody murder? Downright terrifying, if you ask me."

I play a Kitsune Vigilante in PFS; no table GM has ever challenged the disguise stacking for me.

The Concordance

Seamless Guise is a reactive disguise check for when someone suspects you to be the same as your alter ego. It's not a disguise check to "appear human" and won't stack with those bonuses. However, using that insanely high (+20) disguise bonus for human form, you can avoid the situations where people would think you are the same.

You're gonna have a hard time if you're using Vigilante talents in social form though. You won't get the Seamless Guise bonus and likely won't get the human form bonus. Vigilante Talents are your style of fighting bad guys, and that's what the bystanders are recognizing... Not your race per se.

The Exchange

I agree that it very much depends on why one might suspect I am not what I appear to be. Is it that I appear too sure of myself to be just a beggar on the street? Or perhaps the way I decry "the end is nigh" as I stab your kidney is too similar to the local indigent?

Silver Crusade

As I read it, suspecting that you are a kitsune and suspecting that you are a vigilante are two different things.

If someone sees your human form, (social or vigilante), and they suspect you are a kitsune, you receive a +10 bonus to appear to be a human. If they succeed, they realize that you are a kitsune, but unless specific circumstances dictate that it would, they do not realize from this that you are a vigilante.

Now, if someone sees your social form, with you being a human, and they suspect that you are a vigilante, you receive a +20 bonus on the check to fool them. If they somehow succeed on their perception check, they know you are more than your social identity seems, but by default do not know that you are a kitsune.
