What is the range on the recall effect of the Companion Life Link spell?

Rules Questions

This is a spell from the ACG.

COMPANION LIFE LINK
School necromancy; Level druid 2, ranger 2, sorcerer/wizard 2, witch 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Component V, S, M/DF (a drop of eidolon ichor)
Range touch
Target one of your animal companions or your familiar
Duration 1 minute/level (see text)
Saving Throw Fortitude negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
You create a life link between yourself and the target. You sense whenever the target is wounded and are made immediately aware if the target is slain. If you are wounded or slain, the target is made aware. As a free action, you can call out to the target, causing it to return to you (if able and willing); doing this ends the spell.

Unless I'm misreading it, it seems to have no boundary or distance limitations. How are folks adjudicating this?

I would adjudicate it as having to be on the same plane at least, but like you mentioned, there is no apparent boundary or distance listed in the spell you quoted.

However far your companion can get in 1 min/lvl, I suppose.

Snakers,

Beyond scouting and assasination uses:

That could be a long ways. This let's you leave a companion in a supply depot, teleport somewhere, evaluate the situation, communicate and then cheaply pull a supply ladden AC forward without an additional pair of teleport spells.

Not broken, but very powerful.
