Advice for a trickster Sorcerer

Advice

Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice on a viable Trickster typed Sorcerer.

To elaborate I may be playing a Legacy of Fire campaign IRL in the not so distant future and had this concept for a Sorcerer who could essentially teleport at will and cast annoying spells to hamper enemies.

I'd also like to be able to jump into combat for short periods of time, namely when I run out of spells.

I've been having trouble working out decent viable ways of doing this, but have come to the conclusion the best way I can accomplish this is by going the Mystic Theurge route.

Now I've never used a Prestige Class, but I'll just throw out what's on my mind with this right now.

So, I was thinking of going down this route:

Trait: Magical Knack (Sorcerer, to make up for losing 3 cl's, only losing 1)
Campaign Trait: Wand with 20 charges of Magic Missile
Race: Aasimar (Standard)
Main Feats: Angel Blood, Spell Focus and Greater (Enchantments) and Angel Wings
Class: Sorcerer - Crossblooded (Rakshasa and Fey) 1st 3 levels.
Class 2: Cleric (Travel (Trade) and Charm Domain) for levels 4, 5 and 6.
Class 3: 10 levels of Mystic Theurge.
Last levels: Back to Sorcerer.

Cleric Variant Channeling to Harm: Contracts/Oath

The idea is to use Dimensional Hop from the Travel Domain as it allows me to bounce around as a move action that doesn't provoke AoO's, cast evocation, trickster spells like Sleep, Entangle, Suggestion, Dominate Person etc, fly around with a natural fly speed by level 10 and use the proficiency from Cleric to fight with Martial Weapons.

The character is good aligned and only wants to Channel Harm to debuff the enemies, so effectively the DC would be harder for enemies to beat when casting things like Command, Suggestion, Hold Person etc. The +2 to Compulsion Spells from Fey compliments this and I'd use most of the Rakshasa Bloodline Powers.

Does this seem like a good mix or would it be terribly underpowered?

With Magical Knack I'd only lose 1CL as a Sorcerer, but obviously a few Spell levels.

Any help or feedback on this would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you all. :)

I like the ifrit wish caster for turning people's desires against them. This is incredibly MAD. I would go Oracle or the wild blooded bloodline that lets you use wisdom. The ecclestitheurge archetype is handy since you can't use armor. Empower spell is nice to have. Word casting is nice because of the way boosts. (ultimate magic) god luck though, you seem to be in good shape.

As presented you will never get Dimensional Hop. Mystic theurge doesn't advance anything other than your spells per day/spellcasing level. It doesn't give you increased access to domain powers or I suspect even domain spells.

Also, sorcerer doesn't qualify for mystic theurge. You need to be at leas level 4 to gain access to level 2 arcane spells. Crossblooded is generally an awful trade for sorcerers, you are delaying spell access even further.

With this set up when you enter MT as sorcerer4/cleric3/mt1 you will have access to level 2 cleric spells and will just have gained level 2 arcane spells. You wont see a level 3 arcane spell until character level 10.

Also MT will not advance your bloodline or give you access to new bloodline abilities.

If you want to hop around the battlefield dropping control spells then a better idea is probably straight Arcanist with the Dimensional Slide arcana. You might also want to look into Magaambayan Initiate which lets you poach various cleric and druid spells.

Wow, so all MT does is allow you to have combined spells and little else? No Bloodline Powers or Domains advance?

That sucks. It's a pretty useless Prestige Class if that's the case.

I'm checking out the other stuff now. Of note, I can't use Third Party sources.

MT only increases your spellcasting with the class, you gain none of the other benefits. Clerics don't advance domains, sorcerers don't advance bloodlines, wizards gain no more bonus feats or free spells etc.

Yep, that sucks alright. So it's a case of attempting to use the new Arcanist Class or mixing straight up Cleric and Sorcerer together, meaning I'd probably only gain the power of a level 10 Sorcerer and a level 8 Cleric, as I'd be done when I get Dimensional Hop.

I guess it's a case of go Cleric or Sorcerer only, with a more basic concept then. It's a massive shame you can't be more creative with concepts/

There's a prankster gnome archtype if trickery is your want. I know it's not the same as your original concept but I'll be honest you seem to have dropped that so I'm less hesitant to suggest.

Spells, yes because it advances spellcasting, but domain powers or other funky abilities... no.

The route I took back in 3.5 when I wanted to do this was Rouge/Sorcerer/Arcane Trickster.

Liberty's Edge

Another option to consider is the The Trickster from Kobold Press

The Trickster class is essentially an arcane rogue type of class that has built in customization through its Forte class feature, which include Acrobatics, Arcane Accomplice, Spell Pilfer and Beguile!

From the store text ...
"Most tricksters are always two steps ahead of the competition. A few know how to win before the race even begins!

The trickster is a new Pathfinder Roleplaying Game compatible class which combines arcane magic with roguish skills. Use your Forte ability to perform incredible acrobatics, summon a magical familiar to act as an accomplice, beguile enemies, or steal spells as they’re being cast!"

Might be just what you are looking for! :)

Instead of sorcerer, I'd go with arcanist and pick up the Dimensional Slide exploit.

If you want a little more capability in melee combat, go with the blood arcanist archetype (Draconic bloodline), dip one level in bard (arcane duelist for Arcane Strike as a bonus feat) to cast without preparation, and four levels in dragon disciple. You have to wait until 5th-level arcanist to take Dimensional Slide (as blood arcanist gives up the 1st and 3rd level exploits for bloodline abilities), though.
