I want to create a Play By Forum (PBF) Game.

Is there anything special I need to do?

Should I list the game here?

The players would need to create Paizo Accounts and give me their numbers. I can type up, or even sign and scan, chronicle sheets and email the PDF's off so they can print them up.

Is there anything else I would need to take into account?

You need to stick with the official chronicle sheets. You can not just create your own. Also, maps are still required for PFS. If you have ran PFS online, it is the same requirements.

I had planned on using the official chronicle sheets. I have never played/ran PFS online, is there a link to the requirements somewhere?

I am going to be running this on https://rpggeek.com/ They have a 2016 PbF GM Initiative. I have ran about 5 Society games in person, but I have never ran an online game/play by forum game before. It should prove interesting and enjoyable.

Some concerns, A one-hour session might take upwards of 3-4 weeks depending on how well/fast posts happen. I know most modules have max time limits and optional encounters if you're running short/long on time. Should I just go ahead and include the optional encounters since PBF essentially removes the time constraints?

I will be using the provided maps. This will be done through multiple image uploads (Google Drive) and paint.net to move character tokens and mob tokens.

Anything else I should keep in mind?

I wrote up some advice for new PBP GMs.

If there are a lot of doors, ask the players to come up with a standard door opening procedure and marching order. Pre-roll initiatives, perceptions and party saves. Keep the action moving, and use hooks to engage your party and keep them always acting.

I've finished scenarios in about three weeks, but I know that the average is generally a little longer.

Good luck!

PBP is Play by Post, which is the same as your PBF. One thing to be aware of is that the characters involved in the PBP cannot be used in other scenarios while the PBP game is ongoing.

You can absolutely do so, but ask yourself: does the optional encounter provide story opportunities? I've found that most are a distraction from the story and I leave them out anyway.

Hmm
