Daily? As in the kind of daily that WoW did/does? *facepalm*
Once per 22 hours per account (I've seen per character and per account, so I'm not 100% sure which is true), a player can receive 10,000 unallocated skill points for killing any non-Concord NPC. CCP says that this is the first pass on providing daily rewards for activities and that it is mostly being used to gather data.
CCP is claiming that the change to make the skill queue allow for unlimited scheduling (instead of the previous limit of not starting a skill more than 24 hours in the future) has affected game activities negatively; that people had been logging in to adjust their skill queue and then getting lured in to play the game, while now people get their skill queue set for however long (weeks or months) and aren't checking back in to get in game.

I'd figure if the subs wanna spend their money on a few minutes/month, why would they care.
Because the less they log in, the greater apparent risk of not extending their sub. They might notice that they are spending money on a game where they spend a few minutes per month and decide to not bother anymore.

EVE Online has a F2P option now? *sigh* Do I really want to re-install it?
*starts checking what an alpha clone can have and if I can still use my Hurricane on my old character...*
EDIT: So, Alphas are apparently restricted to Cruisers and smaller ships... BOO-HOO!
It's impressive how severe the Alpha limitations are. Strikes me as their version of WoW's level 20 ftp cap. Difference is that it looks like it would roughly require about 9 months to trip over that cap.
The galling part is that you're stuck with your "racial" gear. For a new pilot that's not such a big deal. For salty vets, that's a kick in the 'nards as you may not have anything for your "race" besides some shuttles and a n00b ship or something.
At least the Yule goodies are pretty.

There is that small issue of me having many of those skills already learned to a various degree (often above the Alpha cap), and some skills that are Omega only... Like my lovely Battlecruisers. So both Hurricane and Cyclone are sitting in hangar...
Yeah, I installed it and went to fly around a bit. Even done a few Level I missions in my Rifter*.
Though for a change I did learned Mining Frigate skill, bought one, and tried to mine, but all the asteroid belts around were pirate infested.
*Got a winter skin for a Rifter as a Yule gift, looks nice.

Maybe, but the only thing I installed on that Venture was mining laser and nothing else. It has 10 meter drone bay but because mining drones are Omega skill, I didn't bothered with any. Even three Hammerhead drones I had on my Hurricane seemed to require Omega skill.
EDIT: Alpha Minmatar and Caldari seem to be restricted to Drone 5 and Light Drone Operation 1, Amarr and Gallente can access much wider array of various drone-enhancing skills.
Also, I get that I can't fly my Hurricane but not being able to make it active to look on and play with its fittings is very disappointing. It definitely makes me even more unlikely to bother with earning enough cash for an occasional PLEX than now.
If I am to grind mindlessly, I prefer to grind favor in DDO or deeds in LotRO.

I'd agree with that. As things stand, popping in to snag free goodies at the Yule holidays is all I'm worried about.

Mining trip part two...
I went to mine some more. piRATes appeared after a few mining laser's cycles.
Run away again. Visited neighboring system (Rens) where some basic combat drones were available as well as 200 mm autocannon. Loaded the former into drone bay, fitted the later onto the second turret slot. Fitted a smartbomb into the third high energy slot just for funsies...
Flew back to Frarn (seems there are no asteroid belts in Rens) and started mining.
One full ore hold later (5k cubic meters), still no pirates.

And now three CONCORD Police vessels are floating some 60 clicks from me for some unknown reason... Of course they completely ignored Angel Cartel baddie that started shooting at me...
CONCORD sit in their hybrid ships eating donuts, chugging vodka-infused Quafe and smoking while putting together dead pools. Navy cops are generally more cooperative - you usually won't see 'em in belts unless enemy faction peeps raise a ruckus.
