Multiclassing Chained and Unchained classes

Rules Questions

Can you multiclass chained and unchained versions of the same class? Answer is probably no, but heck, I don't know so I ask.

It has always been my interpretation that you can not. The same way that you can not take classes in both Rogue and Ninja, or two different versions of the same class but with different archetypes.

You cannot, the Unchained book specifically says you can't take levels in the chained version of the class.

(although individual characters must use one version or the other exclusively)

Edit: 6 seconds to find the link isn't bad... :)

Why would you even want to?

4 levels of Monk (Chained and Unchained) stack for most things and gives you 4 feats.

That is why someone would want to.
