Traditional magic class?

Advice

Is there a class that represents traditional theurgy?

That is to say, not the Mystic Theurge, but one that represents traditional occult practices of calling on spirits and deities, summoning, and ritual magical behavior.

It may be I'm just thinking of a very specialized cleric, but I wanted to see if there were more obscure options I was missing out on.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, as a whole, that tends to fall under Cleric.

That said, several of the Occult classes also dip their toes in the waters you're talking about. Occultist is big on Magic Circles, just for example.

Occult Adventures also has rules for ritual magic, which is usable by any Class and might be some of what you're looking for. Found here.

I haven't played one yet, but the shaman might cover this niche.

Witch or summoner or a sorcerer with the right spells/bloodline?

Here are the rules on Occult Rituals. Most can be applied to any class.

As always, ask your GM!

Or a Conjuration Wizard.... or an Oracle with the Ancestor Mystery.

The answer is yes,but not one, many.

Certainly all of the above. I think Wizard might be the least compatible, and you could still easily flavor the spellbook as incantations to call spirits to create magical effects.

PC:Spirits of the masters of the deep, arise and seize the disbelievers! - I cast black tentacles.

Especially if your GM lets you use the Occult Rituals, I would look into the True Silvered Throne Shaman Archetype.
