Wish List for Magic Items

Product Discussion

Some magic items I would like to see are.

A "sword of sharpness"- I miss these items and they are from the Jack the Giant Killer story. Also from the same story I would like to see a "cloak of darkness", and the "cap of knowledge".

For the sword I would like the ability to sever limbs on a critical hit like the old days or at least something cool that fits the name.

For the cap I think a +5 competence bonus on all knowledges checks, can do knowledge checks untrained, and has limit use per day power of taking a 20 on any knowledge checks.

For the cloak that ability to create darkness/deeper darkness centered on the cloak sounds cool. Also the ability to see normally in darkness or at least the darkness effects the cloak creates.

More magical items that do healing and/or curative effects would be nice. I remember a magical gem that you could 1/day use one of the following effects: cure x wounds(I think serious), remove blindness/deafness, remove disease, and maybe a fourth choice. I would love more stuff like that.

syringe of....... gathered health.
it extracts heath from one target willing or during combat. then can be injected into someone that needs the health.

Hmm, I would like...

...cheap...

...fun...

...useful...

...thing...Yeah, that's the ticket.

Seriously, though. It would be nice if we got more Gloves of Reconnaissance and less Smuggler's Collapsible Robes. It's depressing when I flip through newly released items on Archives of Nethys and get mildly interested in some of them before realizing that most of the neat little utility effects cost more than a +3 cloak of resistance.

"Golden needle" that is a one use curative for petrification or maybe acts as a one use "cleanse" spell.

A magic weapon enchantment that adds 1d6 force damage.(a +1 or +2 cost)

A magic weapon, armor, and shield enchantment that grants your metal equipment immunity to rusting(even rust monsters) and corrosion.(set price cost)

A magic weapon, armor, and shield enchantment that grants your wooden equipment protection against spells/effects that affect wood.(set price cost)

A magical yo-yo would be awesome.

A portable tent, house, shelter type magic items would be cool. Make them look like regular stones or cubes made of wood, stone, or metal.

A vial of goo that transforms into a monster(aberration, ooze, or monstrous humanoid) under your control.

A cloak created in the first world that grants you the ability to travel from the prime material to the first world or vice versa at will. Maybe grants some protection from the inhabitants or the environment of the first world as well.

The fighter in our current game has a weapon we've been calling his "bungee flail."

We haven't been able to find the weapon quality that allows this, but the GM claims he took it straight from the AP we're playing (Carrion Crown; we took it off an opponent we killed.) Wherever it comes from, it magically has 15' reach, so we've been picturing the chains extending like the elastic string on a paddle and ball toy.

I don't remember such an item in Carrion Crown but sounds cool none the less. Maybe your DM is just added some fun stuff or tweaking existing items for fun.

I can tell you exactly where it came from if you want to look it up; I don't want to look at it myself because we haven't finished the AP yet (it's damn near finished us several times.)

Pretty much the first encounter in Ashes At Dawn; the flaming flail with 15' reach was wielded by a headless horseman on the bridge on the way into Caliphas.

He has added some stuff, but insists this one is straight from the encounter, as is.

Heh. Actually, that's just a +1 flail. However, the dullahan (headless horseman) wielding it has a special ability where he applies flaming and reach to any flail he uses. I suppose that could be interpreted to mean that the weapon gains those properties permanently, but I believe the intent was for them to work only while in his possession. It's an alternate version of the Chilling blade ability most dullahan's get.

Huh. I guess he misread the encounter write-up. I remember questioning the "huge reach" property when the encounter came up -- Medium creature wielding a Medium weapon type that normally has no reach, somehow has 15' reach? WTF? -- and the GM told us "that's what the book says his weapon does", so that's what it continued to do after we killed him.

Hurrah for misinterpretations that work in our favor! :)

A magician's top hat that acts as a small bag of holding, can summon small animals and/or objects, and maybe a few other gimmicks.

A bracelet that grants a constant shield spell effect.

A weapon property that grant the benefit of any one critical feat(stunning critical, blinding critical, etc.) for limited amount of time per day.

A third eye jewel(magical attaches to the forehead- head slot) that grants a +1 to +5 bonus to hit with all kinetict blasts.

Magical stones that a kineticist can use for 1 burn each. Can use up to a number of stones equal to your round limit of burn.

A melee weapon enchantment property that gives the weapon the ability to fire ray that does at least a 1d6(+ the weapon's enhancement bonus) as damage at will(maybe even get multiple rays as a full attack). The damage would be fire, cold, or electricity at +1 cost or fore at a +2 cost.

One use magic items that restore 1-2 points of ki, burn, grit, etc. or 2-5 rounds of bardic music.

Also for the energy ray property make it were it does a d6 per actual enhancement bonus of the weapon(5d6 max). That way it scales better then getting up to a +5 damage bonus on single d6.

I would love to see magical third eye items make a comeback, loved those in 3.5. Basically a magical gem that attaches to the forehead(head or headband slot). They could grant a variety of abilities like a constant darkvision, see invisible, greensight, lifesense, etc. or a at will ability like detect magic, detect psychic significance, detect poison, etc. Also some that grant bonuses on checks like a +5(+10) perception, +2 spell penetration checks, bonuses on scrying checks, etc. You could have types that fire beams of energy, enhance kinetic blasts(hit and/or damage) damage bonuses on evocation spells, psychic attack, increased DCs on illusion or enchantment spells, telepathy, and much, much more.

I wish there are a set a tyrant artifacts for all dragons. At the moment we have Horns of Naraga for black dragon. Tyrant card in Harrow Deck for Blue. What about Red, green and white?

Also what about some heroic artifact for Silver, Gold, Brass, Copper and Bronze dragon?

Overall, as long as they are not one use items like the Tyrant card and not weapon or armor, I think it will be fun. And they have to be usable for every class. Like the Horn of Naraga, it might not be ideal against undead, but you can just take it off. Imagine someone collected all the dragon artifacts and became lord of all dragons without the need of orbs of the dragonkind. Then unite all dragons to war against something greater! Something other worldly!

- A ride armor/mech armor/giant riding robot armor suit, similar to the Steam Armor in the WoW D20 RPG.

- Clockwork arm variants to finally be detailled:
* arm that can transform into a firearm (that's mentioned in Magical Marketplace)
* arm that can double as an autograpnel (Bionic Commando style)
* arm that can transform into a light/one-handed weapon

- The equivalent of specters from Forgotten Realms, which were wands/rods that could hold up to 6th-level spells and more than one.

- Item sets, such as Regalias (crown, specter, orb)

- Items that can allow iterative attacks with natural weapons (gauntlets for claws, mask for bite, etc.)

- Magical siege weapons

- More weapon and armor qualities related to acid and sonic; seriously, those two are ALWAYS left out for some reason.

An armor ability and/or a ring that grants force resistance.

A weapon ability that lets you turn your weapon into various items like a ring, bracer, bracelet, glove, etc.

A weapon ability that lets your weapon change into different weapons of a similar size.

Oh, here's something I would like to see:
- An enhancement for gauntlets that bestow whatever other enhancments the gauntlet has to thrown weapons.

A +1 flaming gauntlet that grants the flaming property to daggers, javelins, shurikens and whatnot I throw using the gauntlet.

Hey, if bows, crossbows, slings and firearms can have it, so could gauntlets.

A magic glove that grants a weapon property of your choice to thrown weapons would be cool. It would have a selection of weapon properties to choose from.

I would love to bring back those magic stones/gems that attack to weapons and grant them additional abilities like extra 1d6 vs undead or extra fire damage.

I know, right? The thing is that bows, crossbows, slings and firearms transfer their enhancements to their ammunitions, so by that point, I question the lack of a similar item for thrown weapons.

Most of them are destroyed when used, so investing in magic thrown weapons is rather useless. A gauntlet-exclusive enhancement that transfer whatever enhancement it has to thrown weapons would solve a LOT of issues.

Sure, it wouldn't make the weapons indestructible, but at least it would make them powerful for a short time.

There are pieces of non-magical gear that do something similar, called channel foci, including the meditation crystal, which restores ki.

I would love to see gauntlets of ogre power make a come back. Maybe they grant a +2 to +6 size bonus to strength, allow you to use bigger weapons(without penalty), or some other bonus in combat. But whatever it does as long as it stacks with belts of giant strength.

Also are there any magic items that grant characters the giant's rock throwing and/or rock catching abilities?

Items that play with existing items! Examples: robe of infinite twine vines for druid-type characters; an armor training version of gloves of dueling, possibly as sabatons; pipes of the sewers pest control that drive away rats, small vermin, and swarms of same.

Pipes of pest control sounds interesting.

Maybe make the armor training item a vest.

More magic items that grant immunity to status ailments/effects like paralysis, charm, sleep, sickened, etc.
