Seelah's Helm vs Fiendish Tree

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Selah's iconic card of course can be revealed to reduce damage, and recently it was ruled that this can happen only once per check

What I am unclear on is if Before you Act and After you act damage count as being different steps.

My intuition tells me that they are, but I do want clarification!

Yes, they are different steps of the encounter.

Yup, Seelah's helm is fantastic in Wrath; it's worth Seelah keeping it through the whole AP.

Agreed

All the Reveal to Reduce Damage stuff is awesome. Playing CD-Sajan is great because he's a walking eat-3-combat-damage. It was heartbreaking to pick the Monk of the Four Winds, because while I only wanted ONE of the Temple Guardian's powers, it was an AWESOME one (ignore 3 points of ANY kind of damage...).

I still whine about that.

I kept Seelah's helm through all of RotR. Other people got cards or powers that were ALMOST as good around deck 4. But I think it's the best of the iconic heroes promo cards. Don't play Seelah without it!

I used the Black Robe (redeemed) the same way throughout Season of the Righteous; reveal to reduce 2 damage of any type is sooooo good.

Our Meliski has been taking it during Season of the Righteous ever since it got uncorrupted. It's definitely still awesome in AD 5.

I'm about to take it into AD 6 with Seoni in SotR! Still helpful! Plus the +2 to Arcane/Divine checks!

Yeah, that bit's why my Monk hasn't tried to wrestle the Robe away from our Bard...

Ezren's Arcane Robes are almost as good. They were absolutely vital to my RotR solo Feiya playthrough.
