Becoming a God

Rules Questions

I read the entry on the Test of the Starstone and thought my summoner might make a fine God at some point. My question is, what kind of perks come with godhood? Immortality sure but what else?

This question is WAY beyond a rules discussion. There aren't any actual rules I've seen as far as what a god can or can't do. There's a reason for this.

I think a short listing is: a Reserved Parking Space, a Key to the Really Executive Bathroom, and a 20% off Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupon which arrives by messenger to only the most special people in the world.

Also, the wi-fi password. It's 'b00bz' with zeroes instead of o's.

If it matters, all of these benefits are considered Extraordinary (Ex) and function in an anti-magic field.

Gods are gods, they can do pretty much whatever they want :p

ULTIMATE COSMIC POWER... itty-bitty living space.

Mythic rules have something about that, like you can have 2 domains and provide spells as a deity to clerics of yourself.

About all you really get is bragging rights. Once you become a deity your character becomes an NPC and is no longer under your control. Your former character can now do anything the GM wants him to just like any other deity.

Up to four domains and four subdomains, depending on how many times you take the Divine Source ability.

Of note is that it doesn't make you naturally immortal or anything (though other Mythic abilities can).

Ask your GM, since Gods have no in game stats.

3.5 had some more concrete rules about the Powers of Deities. They are not almighty nor allknowing nor omnipresent, not even the greater ones.

You can find them at the d20SRD.org. or [LINK]http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineRanksAndPowers.htm[/LINK]

Divine Ranks and Powers

Hope that helps the link work.

I still have my trusty Primal Order book for when PCs become Gods. It's a good set of rules, gives the right sort of feel while still providing them with limitations.

A level 20 Mythic Rank 10 character with three instances of Divine Source (to get 4 domains and 4 subdomains) is *almost* a demigod.

A demigod must be able to grant 4 domains, 4 subdomains, and must be at least CR25 as a general rule.

The above mythic character hits CR24 and nearly meets the requirements. It's reasonable that post-campaign, such a character could cross over into CR25 territory and self-actualize into becoming a deity (as my Wrath of the Righteous Hellknight character is working towards.)

Certainly they'd be able to take the Test of the Starstone, which raises a character directly into becoming a demigod - after that, it just takes a few millenia and a strong enough portfolio/worshipper base to raise themselves up to full-on deity. (Lore-wise, the other Ascended passed the Test with much less, whereas Irori and Nethys likely took the Level 20/Mythic 10 route.)

All that said, once hitting demigod status, your character goes straight to being an NPC.

Even so, it's a classic and excellent character motive. You might be interested in the following trait for excellent flavor to back up your character's goals:

Self-Actualization

This is actually really awesome.

One important point to know (though this might vary in your home game) is that, in Golarion canon (unlike, say, Forgotten Realms), deities don't gain/lose any direct power through worship.

Nonetheless, the most important thing is to work with your GM.

Thanks.

But how did you do that? What the BB code to get proper links in this forum?

You do [ url=http://blah.blah.org ]stuff[ /url ] but without the spaces by the brackets.

See the "how to format your text" button underneath the post submission area for other exciting options :)

(Also, if you click Reply to somebody's post you'll get to see what they actually typed, so you can duplicate their tricks. Then you just cancel the supposed reply.)

Thanks.

PC wealth is +1 CR. Alternately there are templates (e.g. lichdom) that will increase CR, and frankly speaking with respect to WotR, the PCs are given so much treasure, extra boosts, artifacts, and similar benefits, that they're easily +2 CR anyway.
