Travel Sites

For those that have booked their flights, or are getting ready to ... any thoughts on the best place to book? One of the commercial sites (Travelocity etc)? Book directly through a specific airline?

This will likely depend on where you're flying from, but I found Alaska Airlines to be substantially cheaper than the other airlines that I checked. I actually got my flight for less than I had budgeted!

I travel semi-frequently. I prefer Kayak, which generally gives a decent view of all rates, and generally choose the rate that lets me book directly from the airline even if it's slightly higher. I avoid the rates that show up from random travel sites. (Although all the major travel sites are owned by two or three companies anyway.)
