A lot depends on how close your GM sticks to the AP as a whole.
Having GM'd the campaign myself, I can say that a trap-monkey is not really needed. There are a couple here and there, but this AP doesn't feature deathtrap dungeons.
What it does feature is a lot of:
- Social scenes
- Charisma based mechanics (especially for campaign resolution
- Combat against humans (mostly) and tieflings (to a lesser extent). Seriously. Masses, and masses of unfriendly humans.
- Despite the "Shadow Curse"... not actually much that's shadowy.
- Bonuses for taking some adversaries alive. I'd strongly recommend investing in merciful weapons as soon as possible.
- A lot of extra damage / nastiness against humans
- Some devils and DR/good and/or silver things. Mostly later on.
- Perform (act). Seriously.
A CRB rogue? I'd suggest not, really. Your party is lacking flanking buddies and frontliners, meaning combat will be decidedly unpleasant.
A paladin would be decidedly potent in this AP, but it will shape how certain things go. Book 5 is unlikely to go the "expected" route if there's a paladin in the party... which isn't really a problem, to be frank.
A melee fighter would work well too.
Honestly though... I'd actually suggest a strength based bard, as it will not only make the ranger weep tears of joy, but the campaign benefits a lot from a high charisma character and someone with Perform (act). Going either combat reflexes with a longspear or dipping Barbarian or Fighter for martial weapons and a greatsword or falchion works nicely, as does great cleave as there are a lot of encounters against groups of lower level enemies.
No. Really.
A significant amount of XP and campaign outcome is tied up with Charisma, Perform and social skill checks...

Some additional notes:
Tieflings: While the alternate tiefling traits aren't CRB, they are part of the AP and published in the back of Bastards of Erebus (the first book). If your GM permits, a Demon-Spawn tiefling gets +2 Str, +2 Cha and -2 Int, which is awesome for bards or paladins. There are also a whole pile of options to replace the darkness SLA ability. Bards in particular work well, as you get disguise self to be able to move around a bit easier.
As tieflings do not have a level adjustment in Pathfinder, and present some interesting hooks for the campaign, it's definitely something to consider.
Rebelling against Thrune: Generally speaking this is not what the AP is about (despite the opening speech), and the AP as a whole really doesn't support it. If you want to take part in a revolution, ask your GM to run Hell's Rebels. Council of Thieves isn't that AP unless the GM puts a TON of work into it. Just thought I'd point that out.
