Interest Check -- Pathfinder CORE Campaign --Series of Classic Module Conversions (U1-U3, A1-A4, ??)

Recruitment

51 to 93 of 93 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Hmm, how did I miss this one?
Hey there, GM tribute, or shall I say Chainmail/Gnobby/Samduc!!!

Podo!! where have you been ? Tarmin misses you :)

Whelp , a couple of weeks gives me some breathing room to get a concept together.

Can't resist the U-series and the possiblity of the A-series....classics all!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Okay, I have friends in town.

DM Jelani has a superb posting history and a great character outline that ties to the Greyhawk World.
Nightfalcon has stepped up and made a great background, going the extra step. I consider these submissions to be quite good and an example of what I am looking for.

Recruiting will close April 8, Final Decisions will be made by Monday April 11.

Do I need to know a lot about Greyhawk to make a good background?

No. Greyhawk has the standard elven communities in the woods, dwarven communities in the mountains, pirates, assassins, thieves, etc. Should not take long to pick a place to build from and add a little color.

I will try to put together the standard recruiting list as we near the deadline. And remember, the U doesn't stand for underwater, but swimming will be useful.

Hey! Can I bring this lady back into your game recruitment?

She'll need to be dialed back to level one, but the warrioress of the D&D Basic Box Set desires to go a-hunting again!

Sovereign Court

Huh. I would be interested except... I have run U1-3 and it's one of my favorites. (I probably know it too well.)

Here is Roycilo's submission. She isn't quite complete, but will be soon.

A Halfling cleric of Geshtai, raised among the Tiger Nomads.

Here's the start of my character. Will still need to equip and clean up my sheet. I will create an alias if picked.

Background/Description/Outline:

Background

Caelryl is the youngest child of Corryl and Baelrae and grew up in Dreadwood. His father, a ranger, worked to clear the forest of evil creatures while his mother, a druid, cared for the animals. His parents taught him how to track and hunt, as well as how to communicate with wild animals. While his older brother joined in the protection of the forest, his sister had a gift for healing and used that to help the warriors.

When Caelryl became old enough, he too joined in the defense of the forest but quickly became disillusioned as there seemed to be an unending supply of creatures entering from the marshes. He urged the leaders to send forces into the marsh to find the source, but they were too concerned that it could be seen as an act of aggression against the neighboring kingdoms. When he learned of the haunted manor in Saltmarsh, he knew it was his chance to help cleanse the area for good. He resigned his position and set out to find his destiny.

Description

Caelryl is of average height for an elf. However, being a little stronger than average, he looks stockier and is slightly heavier than typical for his height. His brownish-green skin is offset by his tan hair and emerald green eyes.

He is fiercely independent, but is extremely loyal to his friends. He will not hesitate to come to the aid of an ally.

Character Outline

Mechanically, he will be an elf ranger focused on archery but carrying an elven curve blade for melee (once he can afford one). He will also eventually have an animal companion.

Posting history:

I am generally able to post daily during the week and at least once over the weekend. Some of the games I am currently in are rather slow, so take that into consideration if viewing just my posts and not the game thread. I typically wait for a response from the GM before posting again, which has caused some gaps in my posting if there is a delay in the GM's posting. However, I will post daily in your game regardless, based on the preferences that you indicated in your Giantslayer game I was in (I was Tegnar).

Been casting about different ideas, but one keeps sticking.

A female Suel monk. Her 'granny' is an outcast Scarlet Brotherhood, whose visions of Suel superiority irritated even that organization. Physically and emotionally beaten down and molded back up in the discipine of the Brotherhood's methods, but with nice dose of crazy 'granny' mixed in.

'Granny' took the girl all over south west Flannaes so the girl was exposed to many different cultures. No a stupid girl, she could plainly see that her 'granny's opinions were mostly false, peoples of all descent proved themselft capable of extraordinary feats of craft and creation.

With the bony hag finally expiring on a hot day in Nothern Keoland, the girl found herself alone for the first time, the girl..no, now a young woman, set off to find a destiny of her own, bereft of her 'granny's toxic worldview and determined to never succumb to similar prejudices.

Consider recruiting closed--anyone posting before now can get a character ready. Finish up those that have posted before.

I will try to look over submissions this week and get some maps up and get the campaign thread ready.

Soon it will be time to explore the haunted house.

Since the Vall Woodshadow alias was taken, I transferred the stats to another character that I'd created, Nyther Darken, originally a burglar archetype, now cleaned up to only use CRB.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
Elven Immunities (Ex) Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Elven Magic (Ex) Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft skill checks made to identify the properties of magic items.

Keen Senses (Ex) Elves receive a +2 bonus on Perception skill checks.

Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Sneak Attack (Ex) If you can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from your attack, you can strike a vital spot for extra damage. Your attack deals 1d6 points of extra damage anytime your target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC, or when you flank your target. Should you score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage, you can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. You cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual -4 penalty. You must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. You cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.

Trapfinding (Ex) You add +1 to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks. You can use the Disable Device skill to disarm magical traps.

Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word "elven" in its name as a martial weapon.

Description and Background:

Description
Nyther is tall with olive skin, green eyes and a shock of long, silver hair. He dresses plainly, so as to not bring attention to himself, and is careful to conceal his possessions as best he can.

Background
Nyther Darken and his parents were exiled from the elven lands when he was just a child, due to his father's penchant for theft and fraud. They moved around to various cities, often leaving in a hurry after his father's activities were discovered. Then his mother died tragically during violent storm as they were crossing the Inner Sea. Nyther's father was imprisoned a few years later when his grifting had finally caught up with him. He taught Nyther how to steal from an early age. Life taught Nyther to look out for himself, because nobody else would. Learning from his father's mistakes (or some would say, failing to learn), Nyther became a professional burglar and gambler. He commits burglary for high commissions and commits petty theft for his own amusement. Feeling he has little to live for except the thrill of his plunders, he goes off in search of more adventure and excitement.

Posting History:

The current game I'm playing as Fyfe Holme is only once per 1-2 days. I can easily do once per day.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am intimately familiar with U1 and I have run U2 and U3 (and indeed most of the older modules, though it was several years ago), but I am very capable of separating player knowledge from character knowledge and will happily do so if chosen.

Morgan is dialed back to level one. She has everything except her equipment.

Okay, I haven't forgot you guys. Just caught up in XCOM2 a bit. Quite a good sequel.

Try to get some feedback soon.

Still very interested thanks

Still interested, also.

FYI my posting history.

I just realized that you wanted to to know about people's posting history.

On this board, I have virtually none. I've been rolling dice since before AD&D existed (1st edition) as I started with a little white box set.

I've been doing Pbem since the mid 90's mostly on yahoo group boards. As is often the case, these game over the years have died and more often then not the boards are gone. With one exception these were free form games and not tied to a gaming system.

If you need a writing sample let me know and I'll get you one.

My posting history hereon is pretty firm, and I've been playing for 35+ years. I have been on PBEM.com, Macray's Keep, and another the name of which escapes me.

Liberty's Edge

Are you still taking players DM Tribute? I would love to get into another game with you DMing! And classic AD&D modules played with 5th edition characters would be wonderful!!!

Just letting you guys know I am still here.

XCOM2 has consumed my time. Starting a new campaign will be done when I can finish my obsessive need to save the world from alien control and get you one quality post a weekday to keep things going. I realize I have slipped my normal timeline.

I have barely managed to keep up my other two games I DM and post in all my active games due to XCOM2. Sorry, you will get the feedback you deserve on your characters and a game that is memorable will ensue!!

This was not one of those false flag recruitments, we will be adventuring soon!!

** spoiler omitted **...

I've been accepted for a PbP 5e campaign playing The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, so I respectfully withdraw myself from consideration for this campaign.

I hope everyone who gets in has fun with this.

Still waiting.

Still here too!

As am I.

Still here!

Sovereign Court

Good campaign ideas never die. :)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

::taps microphone::

Hello? Am I the only one left?

I'm still checking in from time to time to see if the game is moving forward.

As am I. I want to play in these modules but....

Ditto

Sovereign Court

Likewise. I just want to watch the game unfold as I've run Saltmarsh so many times!

Still living the dream

Plenty of people are checking in, that's a good problem to have.

Is recruitment closed or is it open still. I read the cut off was April 8th but still seeing post in the recruitment section. If open I am interested.

XCOM2.. That's how I missed this. Shame! Shame, I say, for not having any Barbarian love!
*pokes thread, and leaves an inquiry sign behind*

Sovereign Court

The DM seems to have disappeared.

Dark Archive

Well, I can't speak for GM Tribute, but I am working on a similar campaign that takes us back to the days of B2 Keep on the Borderlands and other familiar oldies. I'm not quite ready to accept players yet, but keep a watch out for a recruitment thread in the next month or so.

Sovereign Court

Good to hear WhtKnt.

Well I will keep an eye out for that...

Sounds good. I look forward to it.

I have been asked to step into another long running game so must with much reluctance set the dream aside for this game and move on. Thank you
