I just hope the Queen's Physicians are Vivisectionists. That Archetype might as well have been made for them.
As with Runelords, one of my overriding philosophies in the update is to not change what wasn't broken. Bulking out NPCs with archetypes or new classes just because they're new isn't really the way I approach these projects, and in fact, I tend to avoid using much archetypes at ALL in adventures for NPCs. I kinda feel that archetypes are best when used on a player character, since they help a player to hyper-specialize and personalize a single character that'll be on stage in every scene. That kind of attention isn't really worth it for the vast majority of NPCs who are only gonna be on stage a relatively short time.

Oh, them still being Rogues is fine. I was more going with the 'if converting them to Alchemists...' line of reasoning.
Just for the record.

I hope this is the start of each AP eventually getting a hardcover edition. I am a subscriber and I will still pay to get a hardcover edition for all the APs. It is just far more convenient when running a game to have it one book.
I guarantee you it is not, unless we use a very liberal definition of "eventually".
At best, we can expect one of these every five years, and then only for a very limited selection of APs. The 3.5 ones are the most likely, and they've already done the two popular ones. (The only PFRPG one that has any groundswell of support is Kingmaker.)
Sorry to be such a spoilsport, but I'd rather keep people from getting their hopes up.

I doubt that will ever happen. Still, would be nice to have all 3.5 updated to current rulesets at least.
Or at least Second Darkness as hardcover, because aren't original three APs the ones that makes most sense to happen before other APs?
Either way, I'm super happy with Crimson Throne getting hardcover treatment because it means I'm set for next year in what I want to run :D

Look at Kalindlara, doing the lords work. ;)
Even if we get Second Darkness eventually (which JJ has listed as a desire and something of a passion project), I doubt they will ever do Legacy of Fire and would jump straight from SD to Kingmaker if they continued them. Although by that point it might be a moot point as it would likely be middle 2020's and we'd probably be in Pathfinder 2E. Not that Legacy of Fire is a bad campaign mind you, I just dont think its very popular, it doesn't get a lot of press around here.

Why would they make hardcover update of Kingmaker anyway? I mean, Council of Thieves is before Kingmaker and from what I understand, that one also has weird things in it due to being first AP to use current rules?
(Also, why is everyone so convinced that they WILL do second edition eventually? I guess it makes sense in that customers seem to want one so paizo will eventually deliver what they are asking for, but I don't really see why they would need to do second edition. To fix some really minor stuff? .-. If they did do second edition, I'd be like "Whelp, can't use my old material" since I don't like doing conversions. <_< So I'd probably just keep buying old stuff instead of new stuff since its not like they can convert everything to second edition at once.)

I was only thinking about Blackjack being a vigilante. Seems about the only thing that would change besides stat blocks.

It's interesting to hear that about NPCs and archetypes, given that some archetypes seem to be designed exclusively for NPC use.

If 10 years from now Paizo is still on the same iteration of the game released in 2009, I will be rather surprised.
I'm surprised you don't consider the current state of the game a new iteration already, but that's a discussion for a different time.

Blackjack as a vigilante is a very compelling change, and yes indeed he'll be a vigilante. There is another in the AP that's even MORE compelling—Sial has levels in a prestige class that doesn't even exist in our game, but that is more or less duplicated by the summoner class, so you can expect a change to him as well...

This is true but not the norm. And keep in mind that archetypes designed mostly for NPC use are INCREDIBLY limited int he points where they'll see play. Not only do they only work for one of 40 some classes, but even then they're only appropriate if that 1 in 40 chance to appear is on theme. So it still won't happen that often.

I hope kingmaker doesnt get a hardcover, I just want another Kingmaker-esque AP based in Taldor and Casmaron.

I'm going to spoiler my entire reply to Shivok, because I just realized it's not at all about CotCT.

Oooohh, yes. But learn lessons from the Kingmaker AP:
- Having a cook give a quest for ingredients for 100 GP is fine at level 1; having a cook give a quest for ingredients for 3000 GP at level 13 is not fine, not sensible.
- Repeating the same mechanic (hexploration) all the way through even to high levels becomes monotonous and boring.
- Having the payoff for filling out monthly kingdom building sheets be so far removed from the starting point means that some players suffer burnout before ever getting to see the fruits of their labor.
- Avoiding politics and intrigue in an AP that sets up a possible civil war? That's rough, man. My players kept asking and never got what they hoped for. ("We're fetching food, again? We're powerful and own huge tracts of land. Doesn't Brevoy want us to step in on some negotiations or something?")
