Defense against ranged attacks

Advice

I'm in a game where I'm playing a barbarian that has just recently managed to get Come and Get Me, which has so far proven to be absolute murder for any enemies with melee attacks. I have no real idea of how to handle ranged attackers, though, aside from just trying to pick them off one by one. Are there any spells or effects that protect against ranged attacks well? Safe to assume enemies will be able to pierce DR/Magic.

Well, it is difficult to do it alone - if you team includes spellcasters, Wind Wall or Fickle Winds has you covered. I imagine your character does not use shield for the missile shield feat nor has two free feats for deflect arrows.

Are you using the unchained barbarian or the regular one, and what powers/ feats do you currently have?

Well, my first thought was to have our crafting person make a wondrous item with a spell on it, if there was some available one. Afraid that I don't really know all spells :(

Non-Unchained Barbarian, but using the Invulnerable Rager archetype.

Feats: Combat Reflexes, Dazing Assault, Extra Rage Power (Reckless Abandon), Power Attack, Raging Vitality, Stand Still

Rage Powers: Come and Get Me, Improved Damage Resistance (3), Superstition, Unexpected Strike

There are some rage powers like greater air totem, rolling dodge, spirit totem, and possibly a few others I am currently forgetting. Gloves of arrow snaring are pretty much a guaranteed protection against 2 arrows or similar projectiles per day. If your campaign has lots of firearms, an amulet of bullet protection is an option.

Still, in general people with medium armor and no shield are vulnerable to arrows. That´s the tradeoff from having a BFS :) .

It was mentioned above but Fickle winds is a great spell for defending against ranged attacks.

As for what you can do personally an adaptive longbow should help you take advantage of your strength when returning fire. At your level it is relatively cheap. Another tactic is closing the distance quickly. Consider potions of fly to deal with ranged atrackers in the air.

In the weapon masters handbook there are some feats that can help, martial focus lets you qualify for feats that require the fighters weapon training (it also gives you +1 damage) cut from the air lets you use an attack of opportunity to deflect a missile weapon, and finally smash from the air which can let you use an attack of opportunity to deflect Ray attacks

Combat reflexes helps with that feat chain a lot too!

Liberty's Edge

I'm with Declindgrunt on this one. If your group uses retraining, I would retrain extra rage power for martial focus, then take cut from the air at 11, and grab reckless abandon again at 12.

And try not to use come and get me if there are a lot of ranged enemies until then.
