By the ways people in the USA talk about leaving if X, Y, Z or T get elected as president, it should either barely have a population in the 4 digits, or be empty of "white" people.

Exaggerations and words twisting can be fun, even if misinforming, sometimes.

You understand I'm not trying to support the exaggerations, but rather observing that that is what they must surely be, right?

I'm in Auckland, New Zealand Middle Earth.

At this point, we should probably just change the name officially. We're voting on a new flag at the moment anyway, may as well stick Bilbo on it and call it a day.

Scarab Sages

And your new Official National Greeting should be comprised of a vigorous handshake and "[insert name here], at your service!"

And your Prime Minister's official badge of office must, of course, be a gold ring.

That's OK. The fact that Icyshadow is Finnish is not something we hold against all citizens of that fine if somewhat depressingly dark country.

And the description of Finland in Scandinavia and the World is very stereotypical. =)

Hey now, I wanna visit Finland... by all accounts, it sounds a lot like Alaska, but with, you know, efforts at maintaining infrastructure...

I lived for quite awhile in a shithole of a Midwestern town, whose motto was "we'll bring you back!"

I make it a point never to return. :-)

I don't remember, I haven't been back in over 15 years, which felt GREAT typing that just now. :-)

Was it in Wisconsin? My mom kept dragging me to that state many times over the years. Because why not drag your teenage daughter to a dull state to look at buildings and places which mean absolutely nothing to her and then get angry because she is bored... On a bright note I did discover beer there and fell in love with the strange way they serve chili.

It was in Wisconsin, Monroe, Wi.

A great place for old Swiss people to visit, a terrible, horrible place to be a teenager. :-)

I seem to suddenly live in Rotterdam....bit too expensive for my income.

Spijkenisse is the home turf.

I'm Hiding In Your Closet, we're thankfully not that dead of a people.
Though i did like to play Necropolis, in response to your link.

Houston, Texas, USA.
I sometimes think about going back to Bavaria, especially every U.S. election year, but Texas is home now.

Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, UK.

Beautiful rolling scenery, as chosen for the 2014 UK leg of the Tour de France (and now to be its own race).
Hills so steep, the Industrial Revolution cottages, along the Calder Valley, look like a scene from 'Gormenghast'.

If anyone's been watching the BBC's 'Happy Valley', that's about 8 miles west of me.

Sovereign Court

Glad to see some fellow Canadians on here already :D

Ajax, Ontario, Canada

Basically a place people live to commute to Toronto to work

Bavaria is a beer brand, in the Netherlands.

A decent one, might i add.
It beats Heineken, imho.

Ugh. NOT a fan of either one. "Heineken: The American Beer of Amsterdam!" How a country that borders both Belgium and Germany can have such lousy beer is totally beyond me.

Anyway, "Bavaria," for whatever reason, is the English transliteration for Bayern, Deutschland.

It's not just the Anglo-Saxons, we're calling the place 'Bawaria'. Also, we're calling Aachen 'Akwizgran' and Koeln is 'Kolonia' while Kiel is 'Kilonia', because we could.

My reaction was careful awkwardness in case Finns do begin flocking the thread now :'D

I suspect it is retaliation for what Germans did with our own names...

Great metal bands occasionally visit Finland, too.

Because the region is called after what the Romans called the tribe the found there: the Baiuvarii.

I reckon it's for the export market. ;)

Cousin Rutger steered me well clear of it during my time there...

Shouldn't we break the UK down into whisky producing regions and the shoddy everything else? ;-)
