DM Guild hits 1000 products milestone (also, Ravenloft)

4th Edition

Today, the Dungeon Masters Guild hit a milestone: 1000 original 5e products!

Also, WotC has updated things to allow Dungeon Masters Guild products for Ravenloft, and released their own guide to writing in Ravenloft for DMG authors. In the past couple of days, a Ravenloft product has become the #1 DMG product on the hottest sellers. I'm hoping the other WotC-owned campaign worlds will follow....

Hopefully with the influx of all this Ravenloft stuff people have made, it will convince Wizards of the Coast that their other settings are loved, and not just the damned Forgotten Realms.

And now the dmsguild has hit over 2000 products!

I think they DO know that, but the reality is that publishing multiple campaign worlds ends up as competing with yourself (not the smartest business decision) most of the time. If you are going to use just one world, go with the one that sells the most. If you want to add more, add in ones that are obviously different in theme from the first.

Of course, seeing the first foray outside of FR take off so well might tell them exactly what you are saying. (It helps, in my mind, that Ravenloft IS pretty different in feel from FR, yet close enough you can easily port a module in without too much trouble).

Well, I just found out that you can't publish anything other than forgotten realms or ravenloft (or "no setting").

My Planescape adventure conversion was removed from the GM guild for exactly that reason (wasn't one of those three).

That's a pity, Bookrat. I haven't had the chance to play it yet at the table, but it looks good.

I'm sorry you went to that effort to no avail, but I must admit I've been a little surprised at the number of non-Realms, non-Ravenloft, non-generic products around. By the sounds of it they are probably being taken down shortly after listing - I had just assumed it was a condition they'd decided not to enforce.

The conversion guide is now up on google docs, link available in my profile.

I've also sent an email to WotC requesting for it to come back under the provision of a classic adventure converted wth bare bones mechanical conversions, which is listed as one way to post an adventure that does not fall under one of those settings.

Liberty's Edge

Yep, I came to ask if you had the Dead Gods and Modron March conversions up, and, you are. Nabbed those before they were pulled; very, very good work. Hopefully when they release PS you can add them again. In the meanwhile, look over there, isn't that the Infinite Staircase? ;-)

Good news! They reinstated the Dead Gods 5e conversion on the DM Guild!

They said that it comes very close to the line, but technically fits the rules listed in the FAQ. They asked me to be very mindful of this with any future conversions I do, which to me means that they're politely requesting that I no longer publish Planescape stuff on their site until WotC says it's ok (likely when they publish a Manual of the Planes).

I feel like they just said, "We'll allow it since you were polite and asked nicely, but don't push it."

Sovereign Court

It's good to see that they listen to reason, at least.
