Chronicle sheet loot: Tier played or Tier of Character?

Step 7: Cross out any treasure items the party didn’t find
in the scenario and mark any special boons the players
did or did not earn (U); additionally, if you’re running the
lower subtier, always cross out all of the items listed for the
higher subtier. Return the Chronicle sheet to the player.

Not that it usually matters, but I'm reading that as you get access to the chronicle loot of the tier the game was run in, rather than what level the character is correct ?

Are we talking about the players or the GM? The way I have always understood it, the players get the loot for the teir that it was ran as regardless of the character's level. However, the character that is assigned the credit receives the chronicle sheet as if it was ran for their tier.

Yes, players get what tier was played in, regardless of their level.

Not completely true. If they were out of tier, they get out of tier gold.

The question was about item access, though.

There have been a couple of GMs that have run tables I've been at that have looked at my 'playing up' character and crossed off the 'up' section, at which point a polite question was asked as to *why* when the table was played at the higher tier.

This has resulted in the GM changing the sheet they were going to issue themselves and handing it to me with an apology, which I eagerly and gladly accepted with no harm done.
