Digital Manuals?

Beginner Box

Hi, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'd recently bought the Humble Bundle for Pathfinder that included digital equivalents of everything that I could manage to get my hands on when it came to manuals, maps, etc.

I was wondering if anyone has found an ideal way to bring these digital files with them to a game? My girlfriend and I are going to try playing together once the physical beginner box comes in, and there's just so many PDFs and I want to see if there's a good way to maybe bring them with me on a tablet? I tried just putting the PDFs on my Nook Simple Touch but they crash the poor thing immediately. Thanks in advance!

Using a Kindle Fire (just the $50 version) with the Send-to-Kindle feature works pretty well for me - it's what I use for adventure path books when I GM. I haven't tried to put my entire collection on it yet, so I can't say for certain how the stability will hold up to that kind of volume, but on a file-by-file basis it seems to work fine. And Amazon stores your Send-to-Kindle files in the cloud, so you could theoretically just download what you need when you need it if you have Internet access.

You also might try storing the files on Google Drive - it makes you more dependent on getting Internet access, but it's usually pretty easy to access. (Kindle Fires are rubbish in that regard, though; they're terrible at accessing Google Drive, through the browser and through apps.)

I use them on my 9" Galaxy Tab. Works like a charm.

Are you using the Lite version of the rulebooks? It cuts down significantly on the size of the files, which could help depending on what kind of crash we're dealing with.

I haven't yet, but so far I'm only touching the Digital Beginner's Box until we figure out what we're doing, and that doesn't have a lite version (from what I can tell). What's the difference besides filesize?

Thanks a lot! I'm going to try putting the PDFs on my Nexus 7 and see if Aldiko reader works well with it!

Some of the aesthetics like background patterns on pages aren't in the lite version. They're nice in print but not really needed for a PDF.

Edit: and I should have realized that you were talking about BB from the forum. Happy gaming! :-)
