Help picking an adventure path

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

First, this is probably a litte different type of request than normal and I am unsure if it should go here but it is worth a chance. I love playing Pathfinder and try to keep up to date as much as I can. I wish I could play more but between working full time, having 3 kids, and going to school for my PhD I have little time to actually play. I tried play by post and had a great group but it was too time consuming and my local group has petered out. With that said, I am looking for opinions on the "best" AP to make into a story. I use to write a lot when I was younger and want to get back into writing. My problem is I world build too much and never actually write. I am hoping by selecting an AP to write, for myself, that it will help motivate me. I am open to any AP, and I do not have any major requirements. With that said, my creative writing abilities are extremely limited as the last several years all my writing has been for school or professional use. Any suggestions would be greatly apperciated, and thanks for the help in advanced.

It really depends on several factors.

First, if you don't own any APs, then on a cost basis your best bet is the Anniversary Edition of Rise of the Runelords.

Second, if you have a number of APs, then what type of story do you want to tell? Several concise APs out there include Wrath of the Righteous (for some fun over-the-top heroism) and Hell's Rebels (for a more political story that allows for plenty of dialogue and the like). And of course, RotR is still a good choice.

If you want one that doesn't have a lot of fanfiction written on it... well I'm not really sure about the fanfic scene for Paizo products so... I can't help you there.

Between my friends and my local gaming group I can get access to most of the APs, with that said there is really no specific theme or anything I am looking for. Mostly something with a decent-good story that is fun to read through.

I have characters created for RotR, Wrath, Skulls and Shackles, Serpent's Skull, Reign of Winter, Kingmaker, Iron Gods, and Giant Slayer. I also contemplated Mummys Mask, but havn't got around to making characters for (I really like making characters). I have ruled out Kingmaker as I don't believe the mechanics of the kingdom building would fit into a story format. Where I am torn is mostly around my inability/fear to write about large cities that I am no super familiar with.

That could be considered a challenge to write for.

The problem being, you will encounter a large city in most of the APs at some point. Even Reign of Winter includes a large city though you remain in hiding for much of it. (Though I think Giant Slayer avoids larger cities for the most part.)

What are your comfort zones then? You can choose according to that.

I probably should of stated that differently, its not that I am trying to completely avoid large cities, but I dont want them as the key feature like in CoT. I havnt wrote in so many years that I suck at most and have no comfort zone :) lol. I guess really I am just hoping for a fun adventure path that I can enjoy reading it and writing on the side. It is more for a hobby, I just struggle with keeping interest if things get real boring.

Iron Gods really gets the creative juices flowing, I highly recommend it.

Thanks guys for your help!
