Warpriest: To select a blessing, a warpriest must worship a deity that offers the domain of the same name.

So I assume this means that for PFS a Warpriest may not opt out of worshiping a specific deity. Is that correct?

That is correct; the relevant rules are in the PFS Guide:

Quote:
Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, and samurai of the order of the star must choose a deity as all classes in Golarion that receive spells and abilities from a specific divine source receive their powers from a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. The list is not exhaustive, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources will be required to choose a deity unless otherwise specified.

Warpriests aren't on the list of exceptions, so must worship a deity.

Totally forgot that was there. Thanks!

This does lead to some interesting blessing combinations, depending on which deities you go for. Earth, fire, luck, artifice, law, liberation, protection, and good all look like useful L1 blessings to have.

I have been having fun tinkering with my 'Paladin' of Asmodeus, ever since the ACG came out...

Also... damn, Matt is fast...

Paladin of Asmodeus ... fire and law blessings?

The 'Paladin' of Asmodeus bit is poking fun at a little issue in one of the books, taking about "Paladins" of Asmodeus...

(RAW: The alignment rules keep that from happening.)

Some of us have been wanting to make one since then...

The Warpriest should do fine to make the 'Paladin'...

I'm stil working on it, but it will be Fire and something...
