28,000 new PDF or physical Beginner Boxes and counting have gone out with the Humble Bundle. If you're new to the Box or Pathfinder in general, say hi!

The Beginner Box has been out since 2011, and there are quite a few folks who've been playing it all along. And there are lots of resources out there if you want to tweak or expand your game!

If you have questions about playing or running the Beginner Box, this forum's a great place to ask!

Hi - at moment I havent put a lot into humble bundle, but end of month does that, so I'm a budget beginner till monday.

I played last year with a close nit but friendly group till they left our regular because some wargaming miniature players got upset we were having more fun than them. Since then I've been searching on how to start at my local uni lot, This looks like the best way for now :D

Welcome! The Box is a great way to get people playing quickly. In addition to what I posted up above, the official Beginner Box Bash demos (this one too) are great single-encounter demos designed to work with the bundled characters. They take about a minute to set up and can be played through in about 10-15 minutes each.

The Paizo Store adventure finder also has some third-party adventures that are compatible with the Box by 0one Games, Adventure-A-Week, Fat Goblin Games, and Legendary Games if you want something meatier. 0one's and AAW's adventures even build out miniature campaigns that can bring a party up to the Box's level cap.

Garrett has linked to some great resources. I'll add that Paizo has also published 10 additional Beginner Box adventures—all free to download—beyond what you'll find in the box. Check out:

  • The Beginner Box GM Kit, which contains a continuation of Blackfang's Dungeon
  • The Beginner Box Bash, which contains four short adventures for 1st-level characters.
  • The Beginner Box Bash 2, which contains five short adventures for 3rd-level characters.
  • Beginner Box Pathfinder Society Character Creation Guide, which helps you adapt Beginner Box characters for use in the Pathfinder Society organized play campaign—join a community of tens of thousands, and continue the adventure with about 200 additional adventures.

I have been looking for some pre-made stuff to try out. Is there anything that you can play alone or maybe with one friend, like the Skeleton's Crypt from the beginners box, that doesn't require a real GM?

    Thanks in advance

Adaram, check out Kobold Press's Party of One series:

While they don't explicitly say "compatible with the Beginner Box", that's due to a licensing/copyright quirk that prevents third-party publishers from using the term "Beginner Box". They're all designed to be compatible with the Beginner Box rules. (And should probably be added to the Beginner Box adventure finder!)

Hey everyone. I'm totally new to tabletop games but I've wanted to play them for quite a while. Snatched up what I could on humble bundle immediately. I have a couple friends I might be able to play with in the future, but I'm gonna look for more people to play with on the message boards as well.
Probably my only concern is bogging a group down with my inexperience.

Hey Durdrik! I hope you jump right into the Beginner Box, because it's designed for players with no experience. For players in particular, the solo adventure in the Hero's Handbook introduces most of the concepts they'll need to know to play and doesn't require a GM (or anyone else) to walk through it with them.

    Good luck!

Welcome, everyone! We're really glad you're here! Woo~!

I've just picked up the Beginner Box and Core rules as part of the fantastic Humble Bundle deal and I am planning on using it to introduce my 9 year old son to a full scale RPG (we have played Dungeon Saga a little already and he regularly plays Minecraft and Teraria on his XBox) as well as running the game on a pbp forum soon.

At first glance the box and all of the other published guides look to be of a very high standard. I am looking forward to playing.

@silverfoxdmt73 I started my oldest on RPGs at 9 using the Beginner Box and it worked out great. It's a really well put together set for new players. Don't forget to grab the free add-on downloads posted above.

It's a great way to learn.

The adventure is great hack and slash too. If you want more social interaction it takes a bit more work.

Check out Fangs from the Past for a great Beginner Box adventure with more social stuff.

That's great to get so many resources!

    Hi guys.
First things first, excuse my french : i am not a native english speaker and i hope my post will be understandable.

I'm a french player and i'm really into the Pathfinder Beginner Box right now, trying to customise it into a complete game, E6 style.

I have a few questions for you, fellow pathfinder players : by the book it seems to me that Battle Rage and Strenght Surge (gorum's special powers) are really, really weak, especially compared with Desna's Bit of Luck or Sarenrae's sun blessing.

Same Logic : after level 4, Sarenrae's rebuke death seems completely outclassed by Erastil's Calming Touch (from the Player Pack).

Shouldn't those three powers be free actions instead of standard actions, especially from a i-wanna-play-a-gorum-cleric players perspective ? This God really seems to be the "bad choice" at every stage of the game.

    Cheers :-)
