Torches Of Varying Sizes

Advice

Hello, I have a small question regarding a simple piece of adventure gear.

After seeing a feat (Torch Bearer), I noticed that torches have this line in their description:

Torch wrote:
If a torch is used in combat, treat it as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage.

The part that suddenly stood out to me was "of its size". Does this imply there are different sizes of torch? If so, are there mechanical variances for size like weight or range of effect, and what are they?

A lot of basic pieces of equipment have size-varying stats, such as small containers that weigh less but have less capacity. I haven't been able to find rules for different torch sizes, but if there aren't any wouldn't it just say "equal to that of a medium gauntlet" (or just "1d3 bludgeoning")?

Thanks for any help with this :D.

Standard torches are all the same, but when used in combat as improvised weapons, deal slightly different damage based on the gauntlet size of the wielder. If it wasn't for that line you've found, they'd probably do damage as a light club.

What it mean is if you are large, your torch weighs double (2 lb instead of 1) and deals 1d4 blunt +1 fire.

People usually only hold torches big enough for them.

Unless you think it means Fire giant's torch is same size but magically deals more damage.

SlimGauge: Do you mean that the damage is defined by the wielder, not the object? That doesn't seem to fit the phrasing, but I'd understand if that was the intent and it's just not worded clearly.

Starbuck_II: Actually I'm more interested in the possibilities of lighter torches for smaller characters. That's easy to house rule, but I hoped an official source existed somewhere to shed some light (so to speak).

Thank you both for the fast replies, it's encouraging :D.
