Den: About the big cat, I don't know. I'll have to research it. As for the trait, that should be fine.
Tangaroa, thank you clearing up that issue.
This seems to be a reoccurring question so I want to clarify here: Drawbacks.
I will roll the Drawback AFTER the character has been selected and the character is locked in. I want the drawback to actually mean something. If you made the super-duper bard with Diplo up the wazzo, then get the -2 to Diplo drawback, then gotta live with it. Kinda like Renée Zellweger's face.
Juraan |
@ Nebten:
Here is Khîrgaal for your consideration. He is a crossblooded sorcerer pretty much along the lines of Juraan here. I can make a new alias for him easily enough, if selected.
That meant giving up darkvision, ferocity and orc weapon proficiency. But those alternate racial traits will make up for the class drawbacks of a -2 WILL penalty, and a shortage of skill points. The lack of proficiency with Greataxes and Falchions isn't a bit deal either, since sorcerers are nigh on useless in melee anyway.
I also built him as taking the Human sorcerer FCB of an extra spell per level. Which will make up for the fact he gets 1 less spell per spell level than a normal sorcerer.
I also gave him two metamagic feats so he can make use of spell slots when he doesn't actually have spells in them. So, if he makes it to level 8, he would have no 4th level spells known. But, he still has four spell slots for fourth level spells. For example, he could Fireball using Elemental Spell (Acid), so it would use a 4th level spell slot. As well as becoming a fire ball that does 8d6+16 acid damage instead of 8d6 fire (muahahaha!)
Anyway, that's my rationale for building him as I've got him. I know a lot of players really don't like the crossblooded sorcerer archetype at all because of the penalties of fewer spells and -2 to WILL. But I think they can be pretty impressive blasters if put together right and proper.
No backstory as yet, but that shouldn't take too long. I also used the random trait chooser in Ultimate Campaign. I didn't have to, but I like using the random element for traits. Just because it individualizes a character a bit better.
If you want to pick a drawback at random for an extra trait, I'm cool with that too.

Something like
Str 13 , Dex 14 , Con 12 , Int 12, Wis 15 , Cha 8
Would serve you a lot better. Or maybe
Str 14 , Dex 14 , Con 12 , Int 10, Wis 15 , Cha 8
Remember, when you wildshape you get a boost to your physical stats to help in combat a bit. I approve of toughness.
The important bit is that the spell level you can cast is limited by Wis - 10. This adventure will net you 5th level spells (character level 9). So 15 is nice, and if you went for offensive magic, higher is better. Druids have lots of solid nonoffensive buffs, so you can survive. OTOH, you can also apply stat bumps at 4 or 8, or grab items.
Ouachitonian |
Well, your Wisdom is pretty low. Your spells are based off of that, and I would put down a spot on there where you have your spells currently prepared for the day. However, outside of that, your crunch is very well organized.
The AP goes to level 7, right? I figure I'd only be hitting 4th level spells at the very last level, so starting at 12 and bumping to 13 at level 5 would mean not losing out on any spells until the very end, and by then hopefully I could acquire a headband to finish out. I was thinking more of a companion/wildshape focus than casting anyway, so even if I lose that 1 4th level spell/day at level 7 it's not a huge loss.
Tangaroa |
You're right; this goes to 7th, not 9th. My mistake!
Still, spells are awesome. They're like superpowers, and IMHO rough to miss out or ignore.
If you are going to ignore them, I'm just going to throw this out as an option; it would be a pretty drastic rework of your character, though. You might want to consider switching to a hunter class from the ACG. More fighting ability, less magic.

@ Nebten:
Hi! I wasn't paying attention at all when I posted my submission for Khîrgaal.
I should have made it for a level 1 character, not 7!
I threw that profile together without nearly enough caffeine in my system.
Here is my submission, done right and proper, for level one this time:
Still a crossblooded Half-Orc sorcerer with the Draconic (Copper) & Primal (Earth) bloodlines:
Khîrgaal
Male half-orc sorcerer (crossblooded, wildblooded) 1 (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Magic 69, 70)
CN Medium humanoid (human, orc)
Init +2; Senses Perception +4

RANDOM ULTIMATE CAMPAIGN BACKGROUND (to pick two random traits)
Race: Half-Orc
Class: Sorcerer
Homeland: Subterranean. Scrapper race or Surface Stranger regional traits
Parents: Both are dead; Orphaned social trait
Siblings: None.
Birth, Bastard Born: Bastard social trait
Family upbringing, Yeomen: Savanna Child regional trait
Childhood Event, Competition Champion: Influence (Diplomacy) social trait
Adolescence, Unharmed: You were exposed to something dangerous, but survived entirely unscathed. Unscathed magic trait.
Influence, The Relative: Oathbound faith trait.
• Sacred Tattoos to make up a bit for the -2 to WILL that crossblooded sorcerers are stuck with
• Chain fighter because he would be useless with greataxes or falchions with his STR of 12
• Acid splash will be a mainstay low level weapon (+3 to hit 1d3+3 damage, with inexhaustible ammunition)
• Colour Spray is an awesome low level spell
I made the profile with Hero Labs. I skipped Player Companion and Adventure Path materials, to avoid anything obscure you won't want.
Anyone's input (read: constructive criticism) would be welcome too.
Thanks!

Hello there friends.
I hope everybody had a good weekend and those lucky few who have an extended one, enjoy it. From a brief glance, there are a lot of excellent submissions. I'll be crunching numbers here over the next two days. If anybody is using Hero Lab, if you could send me the file of your PC that would make life easier. Email is my screen name @ yahoo.com. Yah, I really own up to the name =vD.
Unless a flurry of further interest develops soon, I'll probably select the party and get the game rolling this week.
PS: I'll probably add this in case it makes a difference to those wanting to join. While there is no lack of treasure in this adventure, you really won't be able to liquidate all of it for coin so that you can custom create your magic items. Its not that "I" won't let you, the nearest town just isn't that big to doll out the coin to cover big ticket items or have the ability to create a +1 adamantine keen giant-bane falchion. So this adventure gives a bit of old school flavor with using what you have creatively.

Siblings?
Did we want to have the kin guardian trait initially as an alternative trait.
For crunch that is what I have done so far, listing it and another trait depending on the outcome of recruitment.
I have also selected a non-teamwork feat initially and held off on a teamwork feat until third level....otherwise we are making a bad assumption that we are all in the game.
Plus it gives us more time to determine which feat or feats we want to get. If there is an us left to decide anything!
Damn DCFS!

Cougar it is then. I did wonder about the thylacine which I've met in Kingmaker.
Thylacine would be kinda fun and freaky- scoobyRoo! he could carry his own snacks in his pouch : )
Siblings? Did we want to have the kin guardian trait initially as an alternative trait.
I took the community domain which allows me to cure nonlethal, fatigued, shaken and sickened conditions of members of my little 'caravan' (party). There's a cooperation subdomain under that which allows me to share my teamwork feats, but with a cleric's limited number of feats, and maybe needing one of those for an item creation feat, prob won't be able to take a teamwork feat*
*should Xylas be chosen, of course.

I went ahead and took kin guardian and a teamwork trait (I can certainly change it if you guys prefer another). I figured that if we aren't together, Nebten would let me change them.

Hello, I have had some experience with Pathfinder and have written a few short stories here and there, and I would like to try PbP.
I was thinking about playing a Chaotic Neutral Half-Elf or Human Magus with the Eldritch Archer archetype. A rough construction of the concept can be found here under the name Jacqueline Grimshaw

Jur, Jas & Cal, emails received. Thank you. Of course, I don't know why Juraan keeps trying to sell me Viagra now and Calli wants me to go to her webcam show. Maybe when I have time. Will there be magic or kittens there? Honestly, the internet is made of kitten videos.
Now this is just me thinking out loud.
Not that this is a bad thing, but I'm seeing a lot of half-orc submissions. Typically H'orcs are not a popular race. Am I missing something? Are they suddenly the OP CharOp OMGWTFBBQroxxors race now? The only thing I remember worth while about orc blood was some spell that allowed people to rage and then sack HP to do massive amounts of damage.
Oh and a clarification: divine casters not only need to worship a deity but the PC's alignment needs to be within one step of the deity's alignment. Example: Estril is LG, so casters need to be either LG, LN or NG.
OK, back into the dungeon. Manilow, take me away...

nice job on the linked list!
Yeah, the number of half-ELF characters submitted is really surprising. I almost never see elves or half-elves. I don't think H'elves rate favorably compared to humans at all- same ability boost, but no bonus feat or skill rank...
I suppose it just comes down to character concept or maybe there's a really lusty elf luring all the women folk away.

Not sure why so many half orcs. I really like half orcs. Dark vision, ferocity, flexible stat can even go into charisma....
Maybe Manilow is a half orc bard????

I don't necessarily 'love' humans but in the grand scheme of things I've found that most of my general character concepts can be executed just fine with humans. By concept I don't necessarily mean in a mechanics sense, but more in the, 'Is this character being <insertracechoicehere> vital to their background/personality/outlook or will the idea work just as well as a standard human?'
Flavor-wise, I do like Halflings and Half-Elves from the Core races, the planetouched (Ifrit, Sylph, etc.), Changelings, Catfolk, Aasimars and Tieflings...huh, come to think of it, most of my other race preferences are largely human-like in appearance if not culture/outlook...

I feel that system doesn't fall within the guidelines I provided.
Recruitment Closed for New Applicants
I'm in a toss up right now for the last slot. You guys aren't making it easy on me. I'll have the final party announced either tonight or in the morning. Important decisions shouldn't be made on an empty stomach.
And I like the idea of a thylacine for an animal companion, but I believe they are more canine then feline.

Thylacine description (potato/potartoe)
I'll look for an animal companion version because it is more Golarion-ish and I prefer that too.
Cheers
P.S. I've enjoyed this process - but I'm no fan of pub roleplay. Just my 2 pence worth now that the game is closed.
EDIT: Thylacine tracked, hunted and snagged!
