6 custom characters in the works. Looking for balanced ideas.

Homebrew and House Rules

1 to 50 of 62 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

So I've decided to make me and my wife 3 characters each for when we finish playing wrath of the rightous.

Here's what we have come up with for classes(all of the character art was taken from paizo art or dnd art. Only making personal cards so no need to worry about copyrights..... I think.)

She is making:
Gold dragon
(I'll have to update it at a later time)

I am making:
Green dragon
Summoner/souleater Human
Druid Pack Leader or Shapeshifter Outsider

I'm thinking of making the characters and some cards for all 6 this way we can customize the characters a little with special items, allies, etc. The dragons will be getting cohort cards that have basic dragon abilities. And the species abilities for the color of the dragon will be on the character and role cards. The summoner/souleater will have a cohort that will need allies banished in order to use the powers. And the character will have abilities to pull allies from rhe box easily.I'm thinking of giving the shapeshifter maybe 3 cohort cards for the different things she can transform into. And the pack leader 1-3 cohorts based on the adventure deck they are in, to make the gathering of animal/monster allies possible based on the pack leaders abilities.

I'm looking for any ideas for anything that would work with these character concepts. Powers, skills or anything of the like. Maybe even some boons that might work well with the characters.

Okay, so let's nail down a bit more detail on how you'd like these to work:

You've got several good ideas on how to do the summoner/souleater, so let's look at the green dragon. What kinds of abilities do you imagine a green dragon having in this case?

-Obviously you'll want a power to let you ignore Acid damage and probably a "breath weapon" type power that DEALS acid damage. "You may recharge a card to reduce Acid damage dealt to you to 0." "For your combat check, discard a card to roll your Constitution skill + 1d10 with the Acid trait. ([ ] You may additionally bury a spell to add another 1d12 and the Magic trait; ignore a bane's immunity to Acid during this check.)"

-You'll want the ability to cast spells, since all dragons can do that. You shouldn't be able to use weapons without specifically training with them, but you'll want your Melee skill to be strong on its own (to represent your claws, tail, wings, etc.). Perhaps a d12 Strength with a +2 for Melee. I'm thinking the following starting card list:
Weapons: - [c] 1
Spells: 3 [c] 4 [c] 5
Armors: -
Items: 3 [c] 4 [c] 5
Allies: 5 [c] 6 [c] 7 [c] 8
Blessings: 4 [c] 5 [c] 6

-You'll want a flying ability. "After you defeat a monster, you may move ([ ] then you may recharge a card to explore your location).

Now, of course, these powers could be split across the character itself and a Cohort card, but I don't really see the necessity of the cohort card for the green dragon.

Now, the Shapeshifter is something I could definitely have fun designing. I like the idea of Cohort cards as the different things you can become. Perhaps you'd be able to choose a number of them equal to the adventure deck number (minimum 1) to have available to you at the start of the scenario, and they'd have to be things you expend the power of and have to fish back out of your deck. You'll want to have a theme to them that you can build on as you expand the character, especially if you want to use that character in multiple different base sets (example: if you wanna use it in Skull & Shackles, you'll want some aquatic-themed shapes).

-I'm thinking to get the Cohort cards into your deck, you could have an ability like this: "Before you draw your starting hand, choose a number of Cohort cards with the Shapeshifting trait equal to 1 + the adventure deck number (if any) from the box and shuffle them into your deck." and then your favored card type could be "Cohort with the Shapeshifting trait."

-You'll want the cohort cards to only be usable by your character or characters like him/her, so I'm thinking something like "If you have the Druid trait, display this card next to your character deck. While displayed, you may discard this card to [do XXXX power related to type of creature]." Then perhaps the first power of the character should be "If you would discard a cohort with the Shapeshifting trait for its power, you may recharge that card instead." which lets this specific Druid be better at using them than other Druids.

-You'd want to start with at least 3 or 4 Cohort cards that would have the "B" deck indicator, and then add maybe 2 of them per level as your character levels up, giving you access to more powerful shapes. Obviously the adventure deck 6 one would be a dragon of some type. :)

cartmanbeck is partially right about the Weapons - they shouldn't be able to use weapons ever. I don't know much about the regular PF rpg but I'm pretty sure dragons don't wield axes.
cartmanbeck is also right about the Breathe attack - you don't have to come up with totally novel mechanics. There's nothing wrong with taking what is essentially Seoni's ability and tweaking the flavor (Con instead of Cha). Take that into consideration when coming up with abilities. A good start is making a character by compiling abilities from various established characters and tweaking from there.

I'm so happy someone has posted something with so many ideas.

I like the breath weapon idea. And the no weapons, I was planning on doing that anyway. I was planning on also making special blessings for the dragons. 5 of each being blessing tiamat and blessing of bahamut. I was also going to make them dragon only blessings and make it so that there is one of them available to the dragons at the start and the rest will be added in the corrisponding adventure decks. So 1,2,3,4. So if they by any chance find them they can have a full set by adventure deck 4.

Now on deck lists I'm thinking for the dragons having them start with 3 or 4 blessings (can always make each one somewhat different.). And ending with 5 max. Also was planning on giving them magic cards, item cards, armor and allies based on what type of dragon. Also including giving them all arcane or divine and some both. I'm working on making all 10 basic chromatic and metallic dragons at this point.

I'm hoping to give them a cohort either based on their dragon specific abilities or possibly give each of them a champion. Still may just skip this for the dragons.

The shapeshifter, I'm thinking of doing exactly what cartmanbeck was saying. Starting with like 3 ish forms and adding 2 per adventure deck and ending with 2 very powerful shapes at the 6th adventure deck.

The list of shapes I've been mulling over includes:
Bear
Panther
Eagle
Dragon
Basalisk
Hydra
Tiger
Hawk
Dolphin
Whale
Bunyip
And that's all I have thought of. For sure I'm going to need to make a longer list and then settle on the ones I think will work well with all the different adventure paths.

When it comes to the summoner/souleater all I really need to figure out are the abilities for his role card/s. I'm not sure where to go from what I already have. I need maybe more abilities that get allies in his deck and banish allies to do specific things, like attack, heal, help others maybe (but I'm thinking because of the sacrificial nature of the character he will be more of a loner with other characters.).

Not dead set on any of this just yet. I plan on making some very well balanced characters for me and my wife to play many times over if we want. So this will be in the making for many weeks maybe even months I'm thinking before I actually make and order the cards.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I'll keep watching, so feel free to ask about specific wording questions. I've done a lot of playtesting with the Paizo crew at this point and know a lot about the wording that works and what to stay away from because of certain corner cases. I'd be happy to help in a more serious capacity on the shapeshifter, as that's the kind of character I'd like to play, myself. :-D

Cool I'll for sure keep you in mind when things get further along. The thing I need most is a good list of thing the shapeshifter can turn into. That's probably were I'm lacking the most. The rest is just about doing some good old fashioned research.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Now that I can help with. I'll work on a list of other good animal/magical beast options, as well as a quick list of abilities that might make sense for those and the ones you already listed. :)

Fantastic thank you. Now I need to figure out everything else. SO MUCH FUN! Can't wait to get them finished and give them their first run.

So I was thinking of how to make the blessings of the two dragon dieties, and I was thinking how about make them help an arcane, divine or constitution check. But only get 2 dice if you have the dragon trait. I'm thinking maybe arcane and constitution for the blessing of tiamat. And divine and constitution for the blessing of bahamut. And then I was thinking of adding a special power like maybe something as simple as "if you would discard this card for a power and you have the dragon trait, recharge instead. I mean I feel like they will not be too overpowered but I need to give the dragons something that will be for only them considering they don't really have a class.

I'd also like to emphasize just how overloaded you get when there is one type of card your character doesn't get. for example, when i played seoni in Runelords, i never got weapons for her and just put deck points into blessings and allies. by the end of the campaign, i was way overstocked with allies in my hand. sure they're great for explores, but beyond that they were dead weight since most of them were for specific uses that don't come up that often.

i mention this because your dragons, without armors and weapons, is going to have A LOT of each other type of card so it might be prudent to have abilities that do something with them. i know you mentioned your summoner is going to use allies, which is fine, but i worry about your dragons.

I'm using a lot of "a card" abilities. This way they won't be forced to use specific cards, except for the breath weapons. And all the dragons are young so they won't be too over powered. The dice they will have is going to be a little more powerful than normal but only by 2 pips. So it's not a whole lot of differance.

Also the summoner using allies is because he is a soul Eater also so he will be constantly banishing and aquire ng allies.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Here are a bunch of options for Shapeshifting along with a suggested power or two for the card. We need another "B" and another "5" probably.

Wolf - B (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 1d8. Discard this card to add 1d6 to your Survival or Perception check.)
Hawk - B (Discard this card to add 1d10 to your Perception check. Discard this card to move; if it is your turn, you may then explore your location.)

Bear - 1 ([Veteran] For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 1d10 + the adventure deck number of the current scenario.)
Dolphin - 1 (Discard this card to examine the bottom card of your location deck, then you may place that card on the top of your location deck. Discard this card this card to add 2d8 to your check against a bane with the Aquatic trait.)
Horse - 1 (During another character’s exploration at your location, discard this card to move that character and yourself to another location; if this is that character’s first exploration of her turn, add 1d8 to her combat checks during this explration.)

Panther - 2 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Dexterity skill + 1d10 with the Slashing trait. Discard this card to add 1d8 to your Stealth check.)
Bunyip - 2 (Discard this card to add 1d8 and the Sonic trait to a combat check at your location. Discard this card to examine your location deck until you find a non-villain, non-henchman monster; you may encounter that card.)

Eagle - 3 (When a character at another location encounters a monster, discard this card to move to that location; that character evades the bane and you may encounter it or evade it. Discard this card to add 1d10 to your Perception check or your check required to move.)
Tiger - 3 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 2d10 with the Slashing trait. Discard this card to add 2d8 to your Survival or Stealth check.)

Basalisk - 4 (Recharge this card to evade a bane and place it on the bottom of the location deck. Disard this card to reduce the difficulty of a check against a monster at another location by 1d6.)
Hydra - 4 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 3d6 with the Magic and Piercing traits. You may use this result on any additional combat checks against the same bane. At the end of your turn, reveal this card to recharge one random card from your discard pile.)

Whale - 5 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 4d8 with the Bludgeoning trait. Discard this card to add 3d8 to a check against a bane with the Aquatic trait at your location.)

Dragon - 6 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Wisdom skill + 3d8 with the Magic trait and the Acid, Cold, Electricity or Fire trait. Discard this card to reduce all Acid, Cold, Electricity or Fire damage dealt to you or another character at your location to 0.)
Wendigo - 6 (For your combat check, discard this card to roll your Strength skill + 3d12 and the Cold trait. Reveal this card to reduce all Cold damage dealt to you to 0. Discard this card to add 2d12 and the Mental and Sonic traits to a combat check at another location.

The only thing I'm not liking is that all of them are discard this card for something very simple like combat. I feel like they shouldn't have to get rid of the shape to fight with it. I mean a shapeshifter should be able to stay in one shape for quite a bit. I'm thinking maybe some should be recharge a card and discard a card, but not the shape card. The other abilities I think should be discard ones though considering they help special situations.

And I'm thinking they should all say something like, "if you play another shape card recharge this one. Something like that. But either way I like all of them and wow that was really fast. I really appreciate all the help.

Grand Lodge

cmb, what if they're displays but you can only have one with the Shapeshift trait out there.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Well, what I'm thinking is you could have the character's power change them from a discard to a recharge or something of that nature. I was feeling like these could be more generally made for Druids but this specific character could be much better at using them.

That's a good idea. Give the character the ability to keep them out and use them repeatedly. I would like to bounce all my ideas off you. I have some really good ones I haven't even listed yet. Lol.

I just don't want to put all of them up yet. Not until I get them a little more hashed out. Don't care if people use them just don't want to give all of them out until I've made them I guess, or at least some.

Theryon, that's the plan. Cohorts that have display so the shapeshifter can keep using them.

Grand Lodge

I think you need to decide if this is a shapeshifter and can shift to different aspects based on the cards you have out, how many aspects can they use? Only one? Two? I think more than two is pretty powerful.

What you might also think about is that these aspects have their own skills besides powers. So once you assume an aspect, you don't have your base skills, you have the ones from the aspect. For instance, you might not have Stealth or Disable but your Weasel aspect does. Or maybe the aspect just replaces a skill and brings other skills with it.

You might have Dexterity d6 []+1. But your Weasel aspect replaces it with Dexterity d10; Disable: Dexterity +3; Stealth: Dexterity +4. Plus powers.

I actually have been thinking about that. I'm thinking that he shouldn't have any weapons and just have cohorts and those will basically be his weapons.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Alright let's try this a slightly different way.
The character's first power would be: "If you would discard a card with the Shapeshifting trait because of its power, recharge it instead."

Then each of the Cohort cards will have the Shapeshifting trait and this as a first power: "If you have the Druid trait, you may display this card next to your deck. If you play another card with the Shapeshifting trait, discard this card."

And then they would have these as subsequent powers:

Wolf Shape - B (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 1d8 with the Piercing trait; you may additionally discard this card to add another 1d8. Discard this card to add 1d6 to your Survival or Perception check.)
Hawk Shape - B (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Dexterity skill + 1d4 with the Slashing trait; you may additionally discard this card to add another 2d4. Discard this card to add 1d10 to your Perception check. Discard this card to move; if it is your turn, you may then explore your location.)

Bear Shape - 1 ([Veteran] While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 1d10 with the Piercine trait; you may additionally discard this card to add the adventure deck number of the current scenario.)
Dolphin Shape - 1 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 1d6 with the Bludgeoning trait. Discard this card to examine the bottom card of your location deck, then you may place that card on the top of your location deck. Discard this card this card to add 2d8 to your check against a bane with the Aquatic trait.)
Horse Shape - 1 (While displayed during another character’s exploration at your location, discard this card to move that character and yourself to another location; if this is that character’s first exploration of her turn, add 1d8 to her combat checks during this exploration.)

Panther Shape - 2 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Dexterity skill + 1d10 with the Slashing trait. Discard this card to add 1d8 to your Stealth check.)
Bunyip Shape - 2 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 1d8. Discard this card to add 1d8 and the Sonic trait to a combat check at your location. Discard this card to examine your location deck until you find a non-villain, non-henchman monster; you may encounter that card.)

Eagle Shape - 3 (While displayed, when a character at another location encounters a monster, discard this card to move to that location; that character evades the bane and you may encounter it; for your combat check against that bane, you may roll your Dexterity skill + 2d4 with the Slashing trait. Discard this card to add 1d10 to your Perception check or your check required to move.)
Tiger Shape - 3 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 2d10 with the Slashing trait; you may additionally discard this card to add an additional 3d4. Discard this card to add 2d8 to your Survival or Stealth check.)

Basilisk Shape - 4 (While displayed, recharge this card to evade a bane and place it on the bottom of the location deck. Discard this card to reduce the difficulty of a check against a monster at another location by 1d6.)
Mastodon Shape - 4 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 3d8 with the Bludgeoning or Piercing trait. When a character at another location encounters a monster, discard this card to move to that location and add 3d8 with the Bludgeoning or Piercing trait to that character’s combat check; you may also move after the encounter is resolved.)

Whale Shape - 5 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 4d8 with the Bludgeoning trait. Discard this card to add 3d8 to a check against a bane with the Aquatic trait at your location.)
Hydra Shape - 5 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 3d6 with the Magic and Piercing traits; you may use this result on any additional combat checks against the same bane. While displayed at the end of your turn, recharge one random card from your discard pile.)

Dragon Shape - 6 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Wisdom skill + 3d8 with the Magic trait and the Acid, Cold, Electricity or Fire trait; you may additionally discard this card to add another 2d8. Discard this card to reduce all Acid, Cold, Electricity or Fire damage dealt to you or another character at your location to 0.)
Wendigo Shape - 6 (While displayed, for your combat check, you may roll your Strength skill + 3d12 and the Cold trait. Reveal this card to reduce all Cold damage dealt to you to 0. Discard this card to add 2d12 and the Mental and Sonic traits to a combat check.)

So now many of these can be used just as a weapon would be, but they also have discard powers so that you can cycle in your other shapes without having to just discard the previous one for no benefit.

And then I can imagine expanding these powers to let other characters use them as well... for example, you could make a Transmutation-focused Wizard who has the following power: "For the purposes of playing cards with the Shapeshifting trait, you are treated as if you have the Druid trait."

These are fantastic. This is exactly what I was looking for. You have now cut out so much work and wording for my shapeshifter I'll be able to make it any day now. Thank you so much I'll post the character card info in the next few hours if I can finish them and hopefully you can look them over and tell me what you think.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Hmm... Yeah I think "While displayed" will have to be at the beginning of every ability, if you don't want them to be used at all from the hand.

Once you get your ideas all put together, I'd be happy to help you find usable art as well. That's one of the hardest part of making cards on Drivethru... you gotta find art that is freely available to be used.

I fully plan to build on this concept and make more characters of my own, so I'm happy to help :)

Also there is a problem, we are unable to cutom type in traits on cohorts. There for I will need a way to keep track of that. I'm thinking of putting that somewhere in the powers section. Maybe at the top. Or maybe I was thinking of putting it in the name.

So something along these lines, "Shapeshift-Dragon Form"

Let me know what you think cartmanbeck. I can imagine you may have a pretty good idea of how to fix this situation.

Also I realized we will be needing more B shapes. I don't expect you to make the abilities but most of what I had on my list was used when you made the awesome cohort cards. And I'm thinking of more aquatic shapes for things like Skulls and Shackles and some more demonic type shapes for other adventure paths, or maybe some outsider or abyssal characters. What ever ideas you may have would be a great help.

Unfortunatly I didn't play much of the pathfinder rpg so I don't have much knowledge of the world and what sort of things would work well.

Also after rereading your post I do like the ability to use them from hand by the Druid sort of like a short term transformation. The weapon type abilities are only available when displayed so it works out well. But maybe also I'll throw a negative at the bottom for people maybe trying to use them without the shapeshifting trait. Like after using this card if you don't have the Druid trait banish this card. Something like that maybe.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Let me look at the Cohorts cards. Haven't tried to make any yet, so it might be something to ask for them to add. Let me see what I can do.

EDIT: You can do custom Traits. I was able to add Shapeshifting as an option. You just type it in to the box and hit enter.

I am definitely planning to make a couple more B shapes, just was having fun with some of the higher-level ones :)

ANOTHER EDIT: Made a Wolf Shape card to show off what I imagine them looking like. What do you think?

Ok I'll try that. I didn't realize you could just type anything in. Hopefully this turns out as good as its seeming.

Also just to add because I couldn't remember when I originally posted but the other 2 characters my wife was making are,

A blood mage and a barbarian archtype. They are still sort of under discussion, and not fully decided on but either way I think what ever is decided on will end up being totally amazing.

And it looks amazing. Now to look for images I want to use.

Your not kidding when you want to gey something done. This is amazing how fast you have come up with all of these.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

I love doing this kinda stuff :)

Grand Lodge

Yeah, he does. I've bounced some tweaks off of cmb. I'll let him run with them.

Oh I have way more ideas. I've been planning making characters for awhile now. Just never wanted to go through with it until the opened the character cards.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Hey Brend! I've been going through Paizo's Blog images to come up with a few options for the shapeshifter character. Let me know which one you like, and what you might name him/her:
Female Hobgoblin
Female Human
Male Human
Another Female Human
Awakened Gorilla

Any of those could make for a good shapeshifter character, and a couple of them might fit your Barbarian character as well. I'll go looking for some possibilities for those other character concepts as well. Blood Mage, and Souleater Summoner, right? :)

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Here's a good possibility for the Souleater Summoner: Lucanis

I love the souleater picture but I am using the one from levitate. That one I'm making just for me. I liked the mini so I bought it and extracted the pick from one of the books. The others though for the Druid I love I haven't decided on one yet so they are all in the selection now. I just really want a miniature with the character art is my only big issue. Me and my wife use the minis when we play so.

You could do this one: Elf Druid
Along with this mini from Reaper: Mini

Here's the full text of the character card that I'm hoping to make. My thought is to make it a feral character who eats animals to gain power. Not a nice lady. I really like the female hobgoblin druid image a saw earlier, so I'm thinking that one.

<SHAPESHIFTER DRUID>
Traits: Female Hobgoblin Druid
Skills:
Strength: d6 [c] +1 [c] +2 [c] +3
Dexterity: d8 [c] +1 [c] +2
Constitution: d6 [c] +1 [c] +2 [c] +3
Intelligence: d4 [c] +1
Wisdom: d10 [c] +1 [c] +2 [c] +3 [c] +4
Charisma: d8 [c] +1 [c] +2
Acrobatics: Dexterity +1
Divine: Wisdom +1
Perception: Wisdom +2
Survival: Wisdom +2

Powers:
Hand size: 5 [c] 6
Proficiencies: Light Armors
If you would discard a card with the Shapeshifting trait because of its power, you may recharge it instead.
You may banish ([c] or bury) an ally with the Animal trait to shuffle 1d4+1 ([c] +2) cards from your discard pile into your deck.
[c] During your exploration, you may recharge a spell to gain the skill Melee: Wisdom +1 until the end of the exploration.

Cards:
Weapon: -
Spell: 4 [c] 5 [c] 6 [c] 7
Armor: - [c] 1
Item: 2 [c] 3 [c] 4
Ally: 4 [c] 5 [c] 6
Blessing: 5 [c] 6 [c] 7
Favored Card: Cohort with the Shapeshifting trait
When starting a scenario, shuffle a number of cohorts with the Shapeshifting trait equal to the adventure deck number of the current scenario (minimum 1) into your deck.

The only problem I'm having with the whole cohort thing is that they will have more Hit Point/cards in their deck at the get go. So something needs to be put in place to counter act that.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Yeah that's a good point. I will have to think on that. Perhaps you have to trade out other types of cards for the cohorts? Allies or Blessings, perhaps?

"Before drawing your starting hand at the start of a scenario, replace a number of allies or blessings in your deck equal to the adventure deck number of the current scenario (minimum 1) with the same number of cohorts with the Shapeshifting trait."

I'm thinking allies.

Because blessings have multiple uses the only thing that allies have that the shapes won't is the discard to search your location. And most blessings have that.

Silver Crusade RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

The only reason I think we should give the option for Allies and Blessings both is that, if you don't take Ally as your card feat twice by the end of the campaign, you wouldn't actually have enough Allies to switch out for them. The other option is to give a minimum of 6 allies, which wouldn't be bad either.

Or we could make the shapes a little different. Instead of playing from hand have them all by available from the start of the scenario. But only one may be used at a time. It might work. Like display this card next to your character at the start of the scenario.

I do like the allies idea though. Just make it 6. And I'd say only 6.

[c] You may discard a card with the Shapeshifting trait to add 1d10 to your check against a barrier ([c] or any bane).

I like it very much. Did you see how the cohort text fit on the card. It may have to be a power. At least the stuff after cohort with the Shapeshifting trait.

Yeah I haven't checked that yet. I will do so right now.

EDIT: Looks like I won't right now, seems like there's an issue with the drivethrucards site at the moment.

Just the other day, I gave my GF a whole Witch Doctor-themed deck of cards (she's a Diablo fan, what can you do) and since he was very Ally-oriented, which sounds similar to your concept for the Souleater (in fact, one of the WD versions I had was exactly built around "soul eating" and sacrifice), I can pitch you an ability to get you going:

"Draw and acquire a random (with a Role upgrade for non-Basic, non-Elite) ally from the box to add 1 + its adventure deck number, if any, to a combat check at your location; after the encounter, banish the ally ([]or any ally ([]or any card) from your hand)."

A power of this kind has negligible benefit to combat at the start of adventure, but with its upgrades gives you the possibility to "cycle' through the allies in the box and get a better chance to access the 'good' allies quickly. On high levels, this ability could mean a substantial *free* bonus to combat, but the likelihood to have some banishable 'garbage' card in your fine-tuned deck is reduced so you have to time it around acquiring lame boons from locations (and that's still at odds with playing it off-turn).

Alright so I tested the card and it will work, though not be totally ideal. Basically, by typing the following into the "Cohort" section of the card, I get readable text, though two lines of it are below the actual Cohort line. "Before you begin a scenario, you may replace a number of allies up to the adventure deck number of the current scenario with cohorts that have the Shapeshifting trait."

So for the purposes of making a playable character, it'll work just fine. Unfortunately there's not enough room on the powers section of the card to move this ability there, so I think this is the best I'm gonna get. I'll put the card together once i come up with a good name for this lady hobgoblin druid. :)

Haven't had much time to play around with these in the last day or two, but I'm planning to finish the character tonight, as well as all of the Shape cards, and make them in DriveThru tonight or tomorrow. :)

Cool then I'll just copy them if it's ok with you. I want more pet finder oriented artwork so I'll have to make them for just me.
