Again, hopefully simple.
Can my companion/familiar take the Day Job check in place of my Character? Or, Can they assist me in taking the Day Job check myself?
I know, they aren't my character, but they are a class feature of my character and some can be designed specifically to assist in the day job skills (like the Valet familiar archetype).

Previous threads here and here.
Maybe I'm wording it wrong. By assist, I don't necessarily mean the "aid another" action. I'm just asking if the character is allowed to benefit at all from their familiar/companion for day job checks.
The Valet familiar Archetype has Cooperative Crafting. There should be a few other feats.
The Racoon/Squirrel gives the master +3 slight of hand and the "Thieves guild" Prestige award permits slight of hand for day job checks. There are a ton of other prestige awards that alter the skills permited for dayjob checks to ones that familiars give bonuses to.
And their should be others I can't find at the moment.

In PFS a valet familiar doesn't get Cooperative Crafting, it retains alertness (ruling by Mike Brock).
If a familiar gives you a bonus to a skill by virtue of being your familiar, and you use that skill for your Day Job, then yes you use the skill with the familiar's bonus for your Day Job check.

The familiar gives the bonus by both being your familiar and by you being within a certain distance of the familiar. If the character is truly alone when checking for day jobs, it wouldn't apply.
Love that the valet retains alertness. I like that archetype much more, now.

It's a permanent bonus from a class feature. That it is connected to a thing called a familiar is not particularly relevant.
Edit: see the rules on Downtime from the Guide.

Lol...so the familiar's bonus is a permanent feature, but the familiar itself can't be used to aid on day job checks....Talk about inconsistencies.
Oh well, thanks for the help.

The Valet gets Alertness instead of Cooperative Crafting, and [link in a second...]
Edit: ninja'd
I'd never noticed that before. Damn. Now I have to follow it :-(.
I know that PFS is trying with its new document but I really, really, really hate that things like this are buried in messageboard posts. This seriously affects the flavour of one of my characters (he is completely optimized around being a Painter :-) :-))
