1-6A: Champions of the Horn -- How did you do?

This is a tough scenario. I thought I had barely pulled out a solo win with CD Harsk, CD Kyra and Radillo, only to realize, after I packed up the game, that Radillo had temp-closed a location for the final villain encounter and the scenario doesn't allow that.

For my Wednesday night group, I think my friend who complained SotR isn't hard enough has finally gotten his wish. We'll see how our Zarlova, Flenta, CD Merisiel and WotR Kyra group does. This is an anti-WotR Kyra scenario, with the two-check non-Demon/Undead henchmen and the villain who disables your powers. (I'm seriously bummed by the lack of Demon/Undead henchmen in OP adventure 6).

How did people fare with this scenario?

We had to use like 6 die bumps for it.

That's all I have to say about it.

Flenta, Zarlova, WotR Kyra and CD Merisiel survived 1-6A while spending only two die bumps.

We got lucky with the villain placement. He was in the last place we looked, in the Molten Pool (with the added advantage of not having to take the damage to close it).

Flenta ran into the Unstable Accelerant early on at the Cavern. I hate this card, but it didn't cause too much trouble for Flenta. We basically gave her a lot of dice, and she rolled more evens than odds. Her fights would have sucked the weapons out of Merisiel's hand if Merisiel didn't have the power feat "□ When you would discard a weapon, you may perform the action with a blessing (X or any card) instead."

Flenta ended up taking out 3 Hungers That Move. She was the all-star in the scenario.

For future reference, I believe there's errata for that power such that you have to play the weapon to substitute for it.

(If I'm misunderstanding what your characters were doing, my apologies. Silly pronouns and scenarios I haven't played. :)

Merisiel was playing her weapon. Flenta played a weapon on her combat check. Unstable Accelerant forced everyone who could play a weapon to play a weapon. Merisiel had a weapon in hand that could be discarded to aid a combat check at another location. She played it, but due to her power could discard another card.

Checking in 2+ years late on this, so I'm sorry for being behind the curve, but after taking the L on this one, we were wondering HOW you're supposed to win it if locations can't be temporarily closed and the Abyssal Rift can't be permanently closed. Was there a ruling that villains can't escape to their own location or something? Either way, functionally is the only way to finish this one by closing everything BUT the Abyssal Rift and dragging the villain over there?

Are you certain you are using the correct locations?

I am looking at the original PDF, so it may have since been revised, but my version of PathfinderAdventureCardGuildAdventure1-6TheLastCrusadePDF.zip uses "Abyssal River", not "Abyssal Rift", for scenario 1-6A Champions of the Horn.

Definitely sounds like a mistake of using Abyssal Rift when the correct location is Abyssal River. Ouch!

Off-topic Abyssal Rift clarification:

Clarification of Abyssal Rift. The whole thread is a good read if you're trying to figure how Abyssal Rift works. My understanding is that if you encountered the villain and it escaped to the Rift, to win you would need to defeat the Villain while the Rift is on the "permanently closed" side. (and all other locations have been closed).

Yikes! There's egg on my ADHD-havin' face. While I'm embarrassed to have aired such an obvious error, I'm glad I did because there's no way I would've noticed it otherwise, so thanks for the corrections! I did think it was *really* weird that I couldn't find anything talking about this since it troubled us so much.

I don't suppose there might be any errata for how both runs we've tried at this scenario have included two copies of Maze and a Magic Ray Fusillade that neither Ramexes nor Brielle is equipped to deal with...?

...no? :<
