Greetings, I am building a Shaman for PFS play and wanted to create a familiar who would be useful as a thief. Concept: sneak into a camp and steal an item or 2.
I was originally thinking a monkey but was wondering if there is something better. Also, What about a good archetype? Pilferer? Infiltrator?

I would definitely reccomend the figment archetype for a familiar...
except if your GM says something like
The camp is located 101 feet away from you or something along those lines. I often have my players deliver messages to other towns or other PC's using their familiars.
I think pilferer is the way to go, just because it has the most bonuses for stealth.

I think you have mostly on the lockdown. Pilferer is ultra great for this, even though your familiar would have s$*&ty ass BAB (i.e. your BAB) for steal maneuvers.
I personally kind of like the Figment archetype for this, in case dude dies.
The 100ft. limit kinda nixes scout functionality, though- it can't sneak anywhere without you babysitting/sustaining its existence in the material realm.
Designer intent was that Shamans couldn't take the archetype for their familiars, but I think it's still okay by RAW.

Shamans have a better version of share spell. They can cast hexes through their familiar. This is best used to extend the range of hexes that buff and sour other casters. Fortune, cure, heavens leap. For this and for stealing you want something tiny and sneaky with the highest move speed possible. Special movement fly borrow etc will help to. Also, I find using something that is area appropriate helps. I had a bat and of it was lot are night no one would even question it's presence.
A bat my be good because it can fly and sneak well it also has blind sense so it can skulk around in the dark.
