Silver Crusade

My shrimp dip and my pineapple upside-down cake were big hits at the Superbowl party yesterday. Yum.

Hmmm......... so need a bit of advice. The situation is the PCs are in a city that has just been besieged and is currently basically destroyed, and full of demons and baddies and we just had PC death. I am going to encounter the new PC in the road just finishing a fight. ( the next encounter is slightly tough and the PCs are battered). Is it fair to have the new PC roll a % dice to see what health they are at as they have been in the fight for the city?

Or would you prefer warmer weather? I understand if you would prefer warmer weather.

I'd recommend using a range of, say, 30-80 (since the assumption is that the new PC has taken some damage, but you don't want the PC to be at death's door). Then you can roll a 10d6 and add it to 20 (or 1d6, multiplied by 10, and added to 20).

Lol. Melville actually discusses hunting narwhals in Moby Dick . He actually goes into great lengths about whaling, whalers, and whales. He's the master of the tangent.

Well, the snow seems to have slackened. I am stuck until such time as the plow guy shows up. Missed an opportunity to work tonight because I can't get out because of this white Hell powder. Ah well, Spring will be here soon enough, and who needs groceries?

What class would one make Ichabod Crane?

Probably some manner of bard with Perform (oratory), going by the Disney short. Pity there aren't any spell-less bard archetypes.

Maybe he swapped out all his major spells for Masterpieces?

Liberty's Edge

Oh. Shoot. The Sportsball thing was yesterday.

that's a lot of sand!

Archeologist doesn't use performance.

It's not easy... Occultist can be pretty creepy, or possibly Spiritualist.

Performance is fine for Ichabod, though. It's technically magic, but not too overtly. Ichabod's skill with words could easily substitute. Spells are trickier.

I could see Ichabod as a rogue. He doesn't know much about the spiritual or magical, but is deeply superstitious. He's nimble and clever, but cowardly and selfish.

Liberty's Edge

For the longest time, I thought Freehold DM had an underscore in his name.

Expert.

RPG Superstar 2012

He seems more like an NPC class to me.

NPC classes bore me, I don't even use them for NPCs. :-D

Liberty's Edge

Experts proved invaluable to that one game were we became the Orc Mongols.

I do not.

I also have an outie bellybutton.

Liberty's Edge

...you enjoy that...

Glad to be of assistance.

I didn't mean to offend, just mostly trying to be silly, sorry!

Just bored and the kids made me watch all these Halloween cartoons and movies, and then it's so cold. :-)

RPG Superstar 2012

Nah. I didn't think you were trying to offend.

I also happen to agree that NPC classes can be spiced up and keep them behind PC classes power-wise.

New Venture Brothers. With Trainspotting hommage. Beautiful

Oh good, sadly Pea Bear is lazing through school (again!) so all further campaigns with kids are out on hold until she can get her s*!& together (again!) And start putting more effort into it.

It's only been for the last month or two, so hopefully spring arriving will do some of the heavy lifting.

Ichabod Crane was a teacher. So Expert would work for me. But I'm a Washington Irving traditionalist guy

If you haven't seen the episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Mac and Dennis move to the suburbs, you simply must, one of their best!

Peter White as the Pink Pilgrim. Gods just hilarious

RPG Superstar 2012

I worked on a project where I designed nifty NPC classes (niftier than the existing ones, at any rate), but it's kind of in limbo.

what?

there are lots of people with outie bellybuttons. We are normal folk, just like you innies!

So what if we outies crave unusual snacks, like toenail clippings, eggshells, or grave dirt? Or howl at the moon? Or make sacrifices to unknowable forces? We're normal folk! We even have a town up in new England populated entirely by folks with outies, but they got so into it they starTed inbreeding and...well...things got bad.

Anything would be better than the disposable napkins most NPCs end up

I'm left-handed, talk about weirdos!

Ah, the town of Outtsmouth

I'm wrestling with photoshop. It's a pain. Plus when you don't turn a computer on for four years there are a lot of updates to process

Is there a plug-in blank form for monster creation somewhere? I am in the mood for some monster creation. The Krakeloid must swim!

Blank monster template for Here Be Monsters 2 contest

If it would be hell-related you have time until Thursday to submit.

Hmmm. The hell you say....

Hell Krakeloid with shell of iridescent pearl, barbed tentacles laced with dream poison, and ink prized by wizards for spellcraft. Within its flesh pearls of magnificent purple hue are found, perfect for magic crafting ioun stones, pearls of power, or fireball necklaces.

Watching this new Colony show. Looks interesting. Anyone been following it?

I've been watching Fargo (ITunes) and Battlestar Galactica.

As someone that's never had cable, ever, I'd like to say what a huge fan I am of streaming and ITunes.

Nice!

I for one would like to see the stats for the creature that the Nautiloid ships come from in the original Spelljammer world! ;)

Or did they already have those? And I just missed it? :(

(Yes I have the original Spelljammer box set. I have a lot of old junk I refuse to toss.) :)

If I recall correctly the Nautiloid ships were simply built to resemble a nautilus, not actually a creature. However, it's funny you should mention that. I am in the rough stages of developing a Spelljammer-esque campaign based on Larry Niven's book The Integral Trees. One feature would be living spaceships bred to carry passengers. I was looking into nautiloid as the base creature. The ships are bred by a race of elephantine humanoids called the Yih that I once developed for a project that fizzled a while ago. I still liked the concept though.

SPELLJAMMERESQUE STUFF FOR LIFE!

Hmm. Interesting development. It seems you can no longer leave a simple 'Ayup' post on the Untitled thread. I wonder what the change is about? Spam protection? BP managed one in January but I can't do one now. Interesting

They put in a handful of new anti-spam effects, among them that you can't repeat another post on the same page word-for-word, and I think there's now a minimum character count to make a post, which is probably what's causing your problem.

I figured as much. Ah well, C'est la vie.

Yeah, they make it hard to do a good "Bohemian Rhapsody" when you can't type a few Galileos.
