Burn Baby Burn!

Oh, wait, I'm not playing a goblin PC. Yet. :)

Are we still talking trash about 2016? :D

Does the nationality uses the ein or der, or none of those articles?

Beats me. Like I mentioned, I know no German. Those phrases were culled from the dubious depths of the Interwebz...

2 am. WHOI bound. Rainy night in 2017.

Darkness enfolds me
Velvety night caresses
I walk empty streets

Another dawn. This one fraught with moisture ..

I recall that you have dual citizenship. Is there a requirement for a Canadian passport to travel abroad?

That's what I need to find out. Honestly I'd rather travel under a Canadian passport. Just because. I don't even know if I can hold two passports at one time.

You definitely can hold 2 passports, I've a couple of friends children that have UK & US passports.

I don't recall if I mentioned this, but I served in Germany with the 11th Armored Cavalry from '88 to '90. I can speak a little German, but not enough to hold a conversation.

For one thing, you get a lot less spit in your food when you eat out while travelling with a Canadian passport...or so I've been told.

Time to make some Chinese food

Ugh. Having a hard time waking up

How exactly would anyone serving you food know you had a Canadian passport? I mean, unless you have a big maple leaf embroidered on your backpack or something

I thought all Canadians had a big maple leaf tattooed across their forehead? Of course we could just blame Canada.

And the work begins. Again.

Really it just continues,............. ;P

New rules just came up in November.

Ah. I guess I'll take some time while I'm in Canada this summer and get one.

Chinese food achievement unlocked.

I found a really good Chicken finger recipe. The only down side was I got skittish about the color on the outside when they were frying. I pulled them a bit early. A minor boo boo, just would have had a bit better texture had they had a chance to cook a bit more.

The recipe I found for Beef and broccoli with Udon noodles was yum.

Your dinner last night looked delicious. I may have to fly into Boston someday...

...and on top of that I managed to pick up my first head cold on New Year's Day. So I don't think a flight to the East Coast is possible.

Damn tourists.

And right before CES too.

Up and after 2:00 A.M. ugh!

Need Breakfast, need food, need energy...

28 minutes later I still have no energy.

The Canadian flag embroidered on your backpack is a time honoured method of indicating our nationality. The passport can act as a backup in case someone suspects you of being an American trying to pass.

My only downfall will be my pronounced Bostonian accent. I'll need to work on my Maritime lilt, and remembering to call every strange male 'buddy'. Oh, and of course the ever-present 'eh'. Although that seems to be more of a Boomer generation thing.

I doubt that anyone except British (and possibly French who will assume that Canadian should speak with French accent) will notice. Maybe linguists and people who returned from a long stay in USA. Otherwise, don't expect European to discern between various American and Canadian accents.

Maybe if you tone down the spontaneous outbursts of "MURICA F~&! YEAH!!!" and such, you may be safe. :-)

Giving Patrick advice about traveling across Europe next year should be fun...

Heh. :)

Shifted some money around, sold a couple antiques, and drained my emergency fund, but... I'm back, and with a replacement computer. I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope that my medical bills stay low for the foreseeable future. It figures that the thing would die on New Year's Eve-- one final "f!&& you" from 2016.

Welcome back, David.

I started 2017 with illness...

Third year in a row the first week of January... Though in previous years it also downed me on the New Year's Eve, unlike this year.

I never had any trouble. All the times I've been to Italy, they all just assumed I was English because I was polite.

Speaking of world travel, I was texting Freehold pics of the Japanese area of Epcot yesterday, and I freaked out another friend with a picture in an English-style phone booth. I found the "world expo" part of Disney more enjoyable than I thought I would.

Also, we had dinner at the Biergarten in the German expo. Aeglos would be proud. I consumed my weight in pork schnitzel, sausages, roast pork, and spaetzel. Plus apple strudel and Black Forest cake for dessert!

Was the Doctor in when you were at the phone booth?

Yeah I should have the polite angle covered. It runs in the genes

Wow, what a day...

CES just ran me over and it officially starts tomorrow. Conventioneers are doing the last minute preps for their booths and McCarran has not finished unloading passengers as of 4:30. The taxi stands weere rolling non-stop as of 8:00 A.M. this morning.

My goose is cooked and my tail-feathers are matted then plucked

I'm going to scoop up my princess chihuahua and roll under some blankets.

Good night everybody.

Backing Battletech kickstarter at $275 tier gives a black or grey flight jacket with Battletech logo...

Anyone wants to buy a kidney?

Damn Kickstarters. So damn tempting

Rolling through Dune series on audiobooks ATM. Up to Dune Messiah. . I have to say the first one is the superior. The second one is supposedly only 12 years later but the scope of change in characters and culture seems artificially compressed.

I never got past God-Emporer of Dune back in the day. Has anyone else ever read Heretics of Dune or Chapterhouse Dune?

I'm not going any further than the original series. Too many books to read/listen to.

Pretty sure I read Heretics, but it's been a long time. Probably 10 years or so at least.

Yay! Pulled the trigger on reupping HBO! Westworld here I come!

No second book is as far as I got as I noticed the drop off in quality of writing like you have.

In 2018...

Agreed, great show, just binge watched it while I was laid up with that sprained ankle.
