This one fulfills Patrick's request for a water-stealing monster, more or less.

If only we could load up some wide-bodied military cargo jets full of "stubbies" and air-drop them on Hurricane Matthew.

Edit: Nekkid stubbies?!

I hope you have been relatively safe from the storm.

Why won't my pumpkins inflate? WHY?!?

My pumpkins inflated just fine when I was 12-13. No problem since then.

I've managed to snag a bit of good karma this week, including some good road karma.

My Karma ran over my Dogma.

I think my next day off is Thanksgiving? :/

Maybe Halloween,...

Time to break out the wet suit, Patrick.

I think the main reason most people stopped posting in the Things In Life That Suck thread is that every other thread on the forums just kind of became it.

As for the Good Things thread, I think that The Menzingers have that one covered pretty well.

Ah, Black Sam Bellamy, our hometown pirate. His mistress was our local witch, Maria Hallet. A fun story, especially the one about Maria's cauldron. It was a giant kettle stolen from the local Quaker community who cursed it, saying it would never provide wholesome food again. Which it didn't, so instead the theives cooked mash in it to make liquor, thus sidestepping the curse.

Yeeks 17 hours on the road. But, a young woman was accepted into college, and is thrilled to be going and escaping the pernicious trap of Cape Cod poverty
Life is a wonderful thing sometimes

Weren't they mentioned in your fragment of short story on your blog? Or was that another pirate with witch mistress?

My story is based loosely on the actual story, but with a Lovecraftian twist. Basically a journalist tasked to write a 'puff' piece about an old witch story finding out that in the less-traveled corners of Cape Cod there is more to the story than first imagined...

Witch reminds me (Witch, lol grammar puns) I need to continue writing that piece.

The good news is that with you working so much, you shouldn't NEED to go to places to exercise! :)

(That's MY story, and I'm stickin' to it!) ;P

I still have my regular gym. I just can't do everything I was with three jobs and school. Something had to give

A little lesson in historical perspective.

The convention is over.

Im sorry I have been so quiet over the last few days. Will update and share good news with everyone. But for now, sleep.

~tired sigh~ So tired and I have to work until at least 7 am, maybe later. Good news is both my house and my Mom's are ok. No damage to either. We do not have power to either house. Bad news is both of us have trees down or trying to get down. The house next door had a tree that totally took out the power lines. I have a tree leaning towards one of my neighbor's corner of their house but another tree is holding it up. Our seven indoor cats are ok and three of the four outdoor cats showed up. The little bit of Savannah that I was able to see is a mess. The City has been doing their best to remove trees and get power back up, but it is a lot of work to do. My guess is that we will be out of power for at least three more days, maybe even a week. Financially this has really hurt us. I am using bill money to pay for the hotel, food, and other stuff. Not happy about that! On the plus side, I had charged up my battery backup for my computer before I left and then unplugged it. When we got back, we used that to power the Litter Robots and get rid of the cat crap. The house now smells a lot better. Both dogs were amazing in the car and at the hotel room. They may become travel dogs. I was upset leaving the cats, but for the most part they are starting to forgive me (not the wife who they do not blame at all, but me who they blame for EVERYTHING!!!). Their attitude improved a bit, especially after I did my servant's duty and made sure the litter was clean and they had more food. Three of the cats are still avoiding me. I guess three days alone without power will do that. To err is human, but never expect a cat to forgive. I am sorry that I was not able to meet up with TGTG. I think we both were at the same FLGS at different times.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to get that off my chest. I hope everyone is ok and I am glad that we got lucky and avoided most of the mess. Glad to be back.

OH NO!!! Tomorrow is 10-10-2016!!! How horrible! That means we are getting way too close to 10-10-10100!!! RUN!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! ~runs in circles screaming~

Addendum - My brother does have some damage to his house and my sister-in-law's grandmother had a tree fall on her roof. My Mom and her boyfriend went to a state park and then to a shelter. One of his dogs almost died from heat stroke due to being in the car. My wife pulled off a miracle and got them a pet friendly hotel room less than an hour away from the shelter. We gave them directions and the got there after a bit (of way too much drama for me!!!). The boyfriend was wanting to come back to his house today, but the wife and I convinced him and my Mom to wait another day. My Mom's boyfriend and I will be having a little talk soon. I will not stand for too much more of this from him, no matter how much I like him. OTOH being in the hotel room cooled off their tempers and put them in a better mood! Thank you Honey for doing such a good job and going above and beyond the wifey duties!!!

Sorry about whining! I know that there are lots of people who are MUCH WORSE OFF THAN ME!!! so I need to ease off on my whining a bit.

I'm glad you don't have a whole bunch to whine about.

We are getting the ragged leftovers right now up here. Noting too stressful, just torrential rain and 25-35mph winds. It's been since last night. I'd like it to go away

Man, it's going to take a while to get my finances straight. I got a nice chunk of pay this week and *poof*. Plus, there isn't enough to pay my cable. Lousy grifters.

I should probably go to bed instead of sitting whole night listening to music I haven't listened to in ages, bumping between things kept in YT favorites and things that I haven't added there. There is no real pattern, a lot of songs I like, love even, I haven't added to favorites tab. Also TvTropes.

And now is 8 am and the adjacent neighbor goes back to the repairs of his flat... Not to mention more sounds outside.

Also, I still love Avril.

Reminds me of a story....

.....Back in the day, family members evacuated to Texas for Hurricane Katrina. In the group were my parents, my younger brother and his wife, my mother's two sisters, and my paternal grandparents. Tempers would flare occasionally, and at one point my brother sarcastically noted that the majority of the people in the room were ones he stood to inherit from.

As a follow up and general note - for those who might be inexperienced at Devastating Hurricane aftermaths. Beware the sudden influx of contractors looking to fix damaged houses. Many will come from out of state and screw people over like there's no tomorrow. Also, learn who to contact to report price gouging - it will happen.

As an exmple, let us once again travel to the misty past of Katrina's aftermath. My in-laws got a pine tree through the middle of their house. My father-in-law went through, if I recall correctly, 8 different contractors before he found one that wasn't trying to screw him over royally. He also turned in two differnt hardware stores for price gouging.

May all those affected by Matthew find their possessions intact and their contractors honest!

Cooking Canadian Thanksgiving today. I love Thanksgiving..
