Silver Crusade 4/5

So I played (and loved!) the scenario with the intelligent sword on the chronicle sheet, and I've been wanting to GM that one for a while. I even know what PC I want to put the chronicle on, since he has the right alignment and uses that type of weapon already, anyway.

Here's my question: The weapon is broken, and I seem to recall back when this adventure was new that there was no way to ever repair it. Thus, it would be a pretty subpar choice compared to the normal progression of getting a magic sword and upgrading it as you level up. Which sucks, since it's such a flavorful choice.

Is there any way to repair and/or upgrade that sword these days? Or is it still just a broken sword that can't be fixed, making it a downgrade to the +1 sword my PC already has?

I believe there is a season 6 scenario involving a smith...

Can someone PM me the first scenario in the series for scheduling purposes? I would like to put the second part on the calendar, but I know a lot of my players have not played the first part.

Thanks guys. PM received.

Ok, those were some pretty obvious hints. Of course, I already had another PC that I wanted to run through that adventure, since she's a native to that part of Qadira (sylph who grew up in one of those genie-kin communities). She's only level 3 right now, though, so I was waiting to play it until I reach level 5 with her.

So I'd probably want to GM it with my sword wielding nagaji battle oracle after playing it with the sylph. Of course, that's after GMing the first scenario to get the sword for my oracle, which I haven't done yet, and he's already level 5.

Are you suggesting that they are Gamin the system? ;)

Verily, I have no idea why I had him refitted.

He...I mean, it does not shut up. We are on a mission, about to do something clandestine and making introductions with a contact and this...hunk of slag naively toots about his old master. Yes, what a great Pathfinder that ol' pal was. But what about being INCOGNITO you scrap iron monstrosity!?

It's hard being benevolent sometimes.

If you haven't already read Liar's Blade and Liar's Island, I strongly encourage you to take a look and enjoy the banter of another snarky swordsman and his talking blade. Your character sounds like a lot of fun.

Aside from that specific adventure, you could perhaps play a Bladebound Magus and adopt Gamin as your black blade. Among other things, black blades become specifically immune to the 'broken' condition.

You can't make Gamin your blackblade. The blackblade is not like an arcane bonded weapon where you can swap in different items. The blackblade is a specific class feature that only has the abilities detailed under it's description.

Something I probably should have thought of sooner: My PC who I'm planning to get the sword with is an oracle with the tongues curse. Just checked the chronicle from the PC I played with this, and Gamin only speaks Common. That could be entertaining in a fight.

Precisely. You would use the stats given by the Bladebound archetype, and the personality given by Gamin in the adventure you got him from. I don't see a problem with that.

Fromper, at least your oracle is not DEAF.

I thought about GMing that chronicle to get the sword on Lyric and then realized that she would have no way to communcate with Gamin, in battle or out. Because Gamin doesn't have lips...

A shame really. I was thinking of teaching him to sing!

That Could be fun, she wouldn't even realize her sword was talking !

You know.... it could be hilarious if the sword and I were singing different tunes, but I had no idea. It could be horribly off-key as well and Lyric would never KNOW.

I hear you. It's sometimes annoying when he tries to get me to charge into battle. Nevermind that I have a negative strength modifier and the blackened curse while wielding a broken weapon I'm not proficient in. I'm not charging anywhere.

Okay, a better question.

How many people are picking up a broken sword because their characters are broken in some way, and it helps make a nice synergistic narrative?

When I GMed the scenario, that was exactly why one character (a tiefling paladin of Vildeis, no less) was so enthralled by the sword.

Here's a strange thought...Has anyone ever picked up that sword for their character and then subsequently played another scenario with someone else who also picked up the sword. Did the two swords get along?

If they were mass produced it would explain a lot...

My paladin is also a cleric with the Friendship subdomain, so he took Gamin along as a new friend. Gamin is now serving on the board of directors of that paladin's international restaurant chain.

Thanks!

I'm trying to get all the intelligent items available in PFS onto the same char. Loved the 2000 AD comic Rogue Trooper tons and it'd be fun to have a talking inventory.

Bonus: Cassisian familiar in helmet form.

Keep in mind that intelligent items don't play nice together.

All magic items with personalities desire to play an important role in whatever activity is under way, particularly combat. Such items are natural rivals, even with others of the same alignment. No intelligent item wants to share its wielder with others. An intelligent item is aware of the presence of any other intelligent item within 60 feet, and most intelligent items try their best to mislead or distract their host so that she ignores or destroys the rival. Of course, alignment might change this sort of behavior.

I'll get to that. First is buying.

Man, is the ring expensive or what...

Question - is the character a Bladebound Magus? There is another intelligent magic item for you.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I've considered that. The familiar's much more useful tho.
