Best arcane shapeshifter?

Advice

What class would you choose if you want to build an arcane shapeshifter with abilities like a druids wildshape? Duration and times a day as much as possible.

An option is a multiclass druid... But i hope to find a class who won't lose levels for his spell progression...

My inspiration is based on the wizard chick from dragon age orgins (morrigan) :-)

Scarab Sages

A Sorcerer of the Aberrant Bloodline sounds a lot like what you want.

Alternatively, there's the Totemic Skald?

Another option would be Brown Fur Transmuter Arcanist (ACG) with the Altered Shifting and Lepidstadt Shifter exploits from Advanced Class Origins. This would allow you to change what you were polymorphed into, cast spells while polymorphed, and get more power from any polymorph via the archetype's Powerful Change ability.

If you specifically want wildshape, then totemic skald is one of the best options.

If you want the widest range of possible shapes, along with some ability in combat (BAB), then ranger (wild hunter) 1/wizard (Transmutation/Shapechange school) 5/eldritch knight 10/wizard +4 is one option. BAB +15 and only lose two levels of spell progression (the CL hit is countered by Magical Knack); spells are minutes/level (instead of hours per level with wildshape) but the character can take the Multimorph arcane discovery to switch forms during a polymorph spell duration and use Extend Spell metamagic.

Alternately, for more of an archer/shapeshifter switch-hitter, ranger 1/wizard 6/eldritch knight 2/arcane archer 3/eldritch knight +8 gains BAB +17 and loses three levels of spell progression.

For a bit more melee combat ability/focus on dragons, ranger 1/bard (arcane duelist) 1/wizard 4/dragon disciple (advance wizard spellcasting) 4/eldritch knight 10 gains BAB +16, +4 Str, +3 natural armor, and loses four levels of spell progression.

Personally? The Shifter class, from Spheres of Power. XD Shapeshifting is kind of its thing, and it does it very well.

I choose you, witchomon!

To be more precisely, I'd go for witch's archetype synergist (not to be confused with synthesist). In some ways it's superior to druid's wildshape (beast shape powers at will, combine with your own natural weapons, qualifies for Arcane Strike), in others it's inferior though (flight comes later, Beast Shape upgrades come later, weaker BAB and HD).

As I interpret the rules, you can make it to a crazy amount of permanent natural attacks at level 14. Get gore and 2 hooves from ragebred (wereboar-kin), hair and 2 claws from witch hexes, pick a harbinger familiar with its 3 body blades, and upgrade it with 4 tentacles and pounce - via Evolved Familiar. You have to expend most of your feats and remaining hexes on it, but you make it to 13 natural attacks (4 primary, 9 secondary) at level 14, including pounce and Arcane Strike.
